thanks for all the replies and comments, we already know what we are doing and are currently doing just that, I was asking what "your dream setups would be" not for any advice.

I know what our setup is and we know that it works for us.

Solar panels farming with the bitcoin mining antminer s9 is the good way to invest like giving electricity for the needy people like farmers is my dream project and doing all the works for it. Please understand that bitcoin is the biggest source for the users and makes life better with the bitcoins.
If you have your own dream project means try to implement it instead of commenting back no need of advice and lock as soon as possible.

Since you asked specifically about altcoin mining (as opposed to buying altcoins as some people have suggested) I've listed a couple things that I'd think about.

I think it depends on how much electricity costs in their area, and what specifically they'd like to mine.

For equihash type coins go NVidia. For ethash possibly AMD or get a mix of both and mine with nicehash for whatever is most profitable.

If electricity is expensive, possibly go for NVidia gtx 1060 or 1070's. They tend to use less electricity and you can power limit them pretty well without losing too much mining power.

They'll have to think about cooling and ventilation (keep dust away!) cable management, internet connectivity, software to use (prob go Linux based).

I would probably suggest to the person to spend enough to get one mining rig up and running, and then re-evaluate if he wants to drop the whole $450k.

You guys are too harsh.

it's a nice theoretical question to ask, and if someone is in the know it is useful for all to hear about suggestions.

The first few answers, concerning getting the room and environmental factors ready, is the best first steps to take. Second then look at what you wish to mine and with what devices.

With this amount, I should buy about 1000 GTX 1070 and the rigs associated.

It will need at least 150 kW.

thats what I am talking about a bit of light hearted ultimate fantasy wish listing, nothing serious.

Hi People I have a client that wants to embark into Altcoin mining and they have $450,000 USD to spend after the setup cost and rental.

what would be your dream hardware to put in a new centre?

If you had $450K to invest and had no clue what you are doing, I'd suggest putting in a much smaller amount to gain that valuable experience. Otherwise you'd be rinsed out of the market on the first negative move.

Does the fact that so far BTC  has increased in value by about 7X in CY2017 give you any ideas?

If it were me, I would only go in if there was a newer BTC ASIC miner coming on the market.

Bitcoin-z ? BTC-Z u be talking about??

or

Zencash, or zcash, or zerocash, all gpu equihash based

Surely, your not talking about the shit-coin BTG aka bitcoin-coin? BTG turns gold into shit, turns BTC's into alt-coins.

Advise your client to hire someone else who has some knowledge of the altcoin market. If it were me I️ would very wary of a financial adviser who got their info off a forum. Especially if I️ am spending upwards of half a million dollars. Seems like these post pop up every now and then and the people never come back with what their client set up. Which leads me to believe these are just spam posts from people who are bored or need to keep their post count going for a signature campaign.

When the shoe-shine boy is advising U to buy alt-coins, ...

$450k is NOT a lot of money, its chump change, somebody would be far better to sit on it, or buy gold, which isn't likely to go away

In a years time of these alt-coins will be gone

These day-traders and their penny-stocks, or their penny alt-coins, it comes around every decade, and it ALWAYS ends the same.

"Making money is easy, keeping it is hard" - JP Morgan
