Did anyone any links to bitcoinservice on 4chan?

I just noticed how high the file number had got up to and found somebody uploaded lots of 4chan /s/tyle images on the 1st april. And they also uploaded a handy script to automate uploading of files (http://www.bitcoinservice.co.uk/files/688) Smiley

Wow!

Nice to see it talked about honestly and objectively.
Hope it works out well for them, perfect audience to promote btc.

Yeah, funny to see how positively anons react the Bitcoins, when supposedly 'intelligent' Slashdot is overly critical.

It kind of makes sense. More of the nature of slashdot to analyze it to death while anon uses it if it works. Anon is just looking at how it can affect them short term and in practical use while slash dot is looking at it as a whole. Really both are important though. I don't want btc to succeed for 6 months I want it to go mainstream.

I think it's more efficient for promotion to give the money to many different people instead of a lot of money to one person.

Maybe something like "5BTC for a picture of you holding a bitcoin sign!"

"First person to get triples gains x.xx BTC" is a bad idea.  People are apparently fascinated with getting those types of numbers, and so lots of people use scripts or programs that predict exactly when a specific post number will come up and submit at the appropriate time.  Thus, for someone actively trying to get the number, the chance is much higher than 1/1000.  Probably closer to 1/4 or 1/5, depending on how accurate the predicting script is.

Exactly, if you want to do something offer a bounty for something. Let them see how it's useful not how to get free coins =)

I like the idea though, nothing gets people interested like free money.

Could use a similar idea to get help identifying people/things/songs for BTC reward money. (eg. "5 btc to whoever tells me the name of the actor in this photo" *uploads random pic*).

"First person to get triples gains 200 BTC" (chance of triples = 1/1000 or 0.2 btc per person).

But I couldn't think of a way to stop the same person spamming all the posts. This way by posting images, there's a small amount of work involved.

Would be cool to offer mass-phonecalls/DoS for bitcoins. Then you go on 4chan and offer money per recorded prank. i.e be a pimp.

how fast do u generate bitcoins?
I enabled the "generate" Option and after 14 hours i still had 0,00.
All blocks are downloaded and i can see no progress in creating btc

this means, the coins i generate dont belong to me?

kthx for ur reply, i was kinda irritated coz ive read on the official page:
"Im Schnitt werden Sie (6 * 50) * (Ihre Rechenkapazität / Rechenkapazität aller Teilnehmer) Münzen pro Stunde erzeugen. Im Moment (Oktober 2009) könnten das zum Beispiel 500 Münzen pro Tag sein."

translated from german to english: Average of 500 coins generated per day!
but now i checked the english faq, it says 50 coins per year.

Yeah 4chan seems like the ideal place, they could profit a lot off their deeds. I imagine it could catch on quickly, especially if they know about coinpal.

http://boards.4chan.org/b/res/319116201

donated ~25 BTC to various people.

There's no better way to promote the concept  Cheesy

Agreed. I'm just have trouble thinking how I could pay and get semi-useful things in return.

Anyone wants to consider donating, 19K9PAANER8Qy2w8KeMop2YagbHPK5cU17
All of the donations I receive then I'll add 1/4 and do another 4chan rally.

Nice, I need to xfer some dollars to my wallet so I can buy some crap.

Yeah, threads on /b/ last for either mere minutes up to a max of a few hours.  Perhaps a screenshot should have been taken (I use the Screengrab Firefox addon).

Not much, from what I saw. About the same sort of thing you'd usually expect to see on 4chan.
