I can see that most of the coins being listed here are among the top 100. What about those below the hundred list, such as ETHLEND, MicroMoney, Change Bank and some others. I think these coins can spring surprises. Some coins in the ICO market currently also got potential.
For me, XVG, XRP, DGB, EBTC, and NEO will be the one I hodl.
Why is not anyone here talking about Aion? you do not see the prospects in this coin in 2018? look at their growth
My only choice is ethereum, bitquence, oyster, bitcoin cash and waves. That's a choice I think is good. If there is another good coin please let me know. I'll try to buy it.

LItecoins, Monero, Ethereum, Hempcoin and Waves are the best coins I will be holding throughout in 2018 to gain from the price increase. It has proven beyond reasonable doubt in 2017 that they are coins worthy of holding.
I agree, that altcoin is the best to hold in this coming 2018. Actually i don't have altcoin to hold for now because i just want to plan what is the best coin for me and that's 5 altcoin that you say is the best for me that's why i want to buy that sooner or later.
I suggest you as per best of my knowledge of 5 alt coins to hold in 2018 is ETH, XRP, BTCRED, BITB and XVG.
