But looking at the address he gave me (on BC.info), there are a TON of very small transactions that that BTC0.5 moved out of that address in, so it looks to me like a faucet service address. I'm only speculating on that though. It could have been a sockpuppet, Who knows?
If I took a loan out and had some problem repaying I'd be in constant contact with the lender. But that's because I'm not a scammer.
I agree! In fact, in the PM conversation, I explicitly told him to notify me ASAP if the bank was still closed and he couldn't get the verification taken care of by the time he said. It was New Years eve, so I wasn't sure of bank hours.

I wasn't going to create a big stink over $7! If it were a large loan, that would be a different story. That said, if a mod wanted to give out a tag, that's up to them, and I wouldn't be heartbroken if they did. After all, he is the one who screwed up the tx, and if it wasn't meant to be a scam initially (and just not paying because HE didn't receive the BTC.5) I really hope he learned his lesson about the care necessary when sending/receiving Bitcoin (Fast/non-reversable/unforgiving). I knew the risk, but figured for $7, I would give the benefit of the doubt and try to help.
