A similar thought will work in almost everyone, a person who is rich or poor that doesn't matter. Everyone has to work hard to earn money so no one wants to lose that money easily.

Income levels are never the same so everyone should always watch the amount invested into gambling. I think the OP was simply pointing to this aspect of our societal reality in terms of wealth distribution.
