God dammit...

ICOs are not scam per se. It's a fairly unregulated crowdfunding method which allows you to provide your tokens on a big scale. If people are investing in coins/tokens which they are actually not a bit associated with, they shouldn't cry when it's not growing in value.

You don't get rich over night because you were so genius recognising the great potential of a project.

A business model usually takes time to be profitable and holding only is the dead for value. If everyone sees the great potential and invests, but nobody actually facilitates token flow, the project is doomed to fail.

Since last one year nearly 50% of ICO's became fake, how much this false trend is going to affect genuine projects/ICO's?  Huh
It really affects the appearnce of Icos on public and many investors afraid now on inveting on icos because of that, I think that's the one of reasons why in chine banned ico because of scammers and now investors are looking for their background and projects of icos before putting their money in and always check if it is legit and look for legit developers don't be get affected on hype.

ICO scams will stop when people stop throwing money and filling hard caps of millions and millions within 10 blocks on ethereum. Everyone is so busy trying to find a get rich quick scheme that they end up losing it all trying to chase "Moon coins" every single day.

Genuine ICOs will not be affected on teh long run - the product and tech speaks for itself when they're good.

Don't affect much. Even when market crashes,  genuine ICOs are raised sometimes they just don't reach their hard cap.

Get used to it because it do really works that way as of now and its a common situation do happening as of now.Talking on the percentage i do strongly believe that 50% is just too small maybe 75-80% of them are trash which they do pop out from nowhere and launching an ICO.If they do collect enough funds most of them do forget regarding on their roadmap later on and just letting those coins playing on exchanges without minding the true project that they propose to public.

With china banning all ICO,they soon will make a regulation regarding to start an ICO project, with this regulation i think new ICO will have less scam and investor don't have to worry for their money to lose

The problem with ICOs now is that they are massively hyped. If they hype too much then everyone invests into these massive or no-cap ICOs and dilute the tokens so much they become worthless. Then when they start to trade the tokens most just dump and people only lose money on ICOs

one has almost no more lust in ico to invest because one dei hitbtc and etherdelta everything cheaper can buy after ico
and before you never know whether the devs to ico are still there or run away with the money
almost all ico were at hitbtc or etherdelta after ico cheaper than the best ico price. so everyone has to decide for themselves what is right

I don't believe that 50% of ICO's are fake, where are you getting this stat?

Although there are a large amount of weak ICO's, investing in ICO's is just like any other investment. You need to do your research.

These are the qualities i look for before investing into an ICO:-

- Strong team - Both in development team and also the CEO's / marketing (People focus too much on the developers which is important but not everything. no point having a great team to create something, if nobody can advertise it and push the startup in the right direction.)
- Realistic vision - not aiming too high or if they do not reach their target everyone who invested will be disappointed
- Solid whitepaper - Well thought out, shows realistic goals, a strong good vision and a plan of action
- Strong social media presence - A social media that shows they are connected with everyone
- Good customer support - Shows they care, and they have invested time and money into making sure the average investor can ask questions
- Good website - A business who is willing to throw time and effort into a good website are less likely to be a scam
- finite supply - ICO's with no cap can be dangerous and can simply just damage their own coin by releasing more for more investment.
-Market they are getting involved with - Is this a new market? or a dying one? who controls the market?

Finally
- Good concept and catchy name - A good ethos and a name that makes them stand out. Personally i would avoid anything that is something "coin".

It's negative publicity for the genuine ones when ICOs are put on a wrong complexion in general. As I have read above, it's true that investors become more sophisticated in understanding what is a scam and what project just doesn't have a future after completing the ICO.

However, non-experts are being mislead 24/7 by pump&dumps, outrageous bonus structures and greatly advertised Offerings. The effect it has is that non-regular crypto investors lose trust after losing their money and only real experts are gaining the profits on that.

Actually nothing new...

People need to get their greed under control.

It has already started to affect genuine ICO's for translator bounty campaigns.
You can notice that people are not as "quick to the gun" to reserve translator spots in bounties, in fear of getting negative rep/banned.
If the ICO is fake and you are a thread moderator, you get equal treatment to the scammer.

I know a guy on skype that stopped translating because of this.

Not 50% of th ico became fake but the right thing that they are not delivering something to the investors. i mean they are still on the zero process to release the product. Because the main thing to run icos to develop the product and sold the product to the public.

Not much. Actually about 90% after the ico strongly lose in the price. Even if ico was a success and it stands a strong team (ico PLBT). But despite all this, the ico will still continue to invest. I have a feeling that it will never end  Grin

Unfortunately even teams that are promoted as being strong often have incompetent members. Team skill is more about marketing and not an indication of the success of a project. Just look at IOTA or who wrote the DAO smart contract. These guys are promoted as superheroes; but, in fact just ordinary in their capabilities.

This period of many scam ICOs will certainly come to an end someday but it will not be in the near future. It will end when there are regulations and laws regarding ICO's in many countries. This fake ICO's doesnt really affect genuine ICO's that much because people and investors nowadays are smart enough to choose the ICO they want to invest on their own the only effect is that fake ICO's attracts newbies' attention so investors are lessened on genuine ICOs because of scam ones.
Yes, I felt the same, because of these fake ICOs, genuine Projects/ICOs will not be able to collect more funds through investment.
