CBI Championship Schedule (CBS Sports):

The 7th Annual College Basketball Invitational (CBI) begins the "Best of 3 Championship Series" tonight with the hosting Fresno State Bulldogs (13-5 Home) and the Siena Saints (5-9 Away).  

Fresno State (20-16 overall), (9-9) Mountain West posted its first winning record in seven years.  Finishing the season strong, they are (3-0) thus far in CBI play with HOME wins over Old Dominion (71-64), Princeton (72-56), and an AWAY at UTEP (61-56).  

Siena (18-17 overall), (11-9) Metro Atlantic Athletic made its 12th postseason appearance and first since 2010 when it made its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.  With their new coach, the visiting team (3-0 CBI) earned a shot in the CBI championship with HOME wins over Illinois State (61-49), Penn State (54-52) and Stony Brook (66-55).  They are also (3-0 ATS) in these three wins.    


  
-Five of the previous six tournament Championship Series went the distance as Tulsa (2008), Oregon State (2009), Oregon (2011), Pittsburgh (2012), and Santa Clara (2013) won in three games.  In 2010, VCU became the only team to need two games to win the CBI Championship.  

-In the previous six Championship Series, the team that won the first game went on to win the Series four times.  With a win tonight at home, I anticipate Fresno State making it five times!  

Three teams (Oregon State 2009, VCU 2010, and Santa Clara 2013) won the CBI title on an opponent’s home floor.  I'm picking Fresno State to do the same in 2014!

Defending Champion #4 Louisville set to make its Sweet 16 return tonight against the upset minded #8 Kentucky Wildcats.  Since dominating the 2013 tournament by an average 16 point win margin, Coach Patino's squad has had little problems knocking off #5 St. Louis 66-51 and #13 Manhattan 71-64.  But with Coach Calipari's Wildcats coming off an upset win of tournament favored #1 Wichita State and all the motivation in the world, this one has all the makings of a classic.
