Sorry if it's been answered but I only skimmed through the first page. What were these coins sold for? Please tell me it's going to cover for the $300 difference.
It's probably sealed under secret, they aren't forced to disclose the price that the coins sold for.
why wont they disclose the price? That's the basic part of being transparent enough so that people can know that they didn't sell the coins for a low price. If the price doesn't get disclosed then the people who were incharge of the auction could earn a lot by taking money from the bidders and giving the coins to them for less price.

Well, I should think a degree of financial privacy would be accepted. Why do you have to declare your personal financial matters to everyone?

The only people who needs to know those details, would be the tax collector / government and your auditor doing your books.

I am sure, nobody wants to tell thiefs and hackers about the big stash of coins they bought from a auction, and being from a controversial origin {the coins} it might become a target in future.

I think, I would keep it a secret too...   Wink
Ahh fine.
If the tax collectors and the auditors know then its most probably fine.

Yes that is obvious but maybe the winners (or someone of him) will tweet something, as in the old auction. We have only to wait a couple of days and we will know the name of (at least) one of the auction's winner.

This just shows us that there is interest from the big players. I'd definitely bid on this myself if I had that kind of money to spare.

How much did the winning people bid on each coin? Was it less or more than the current price?
Couldn't find this anywhere even on Bloomberg :/

I think the decisions on that haven't come out yet. They should be out within this week. But it seems they were higher than the market price.
Don't think so. I read somewhere that someone didn't get them after putting a bid of 221$/coin. So it must have been a few more dollars that other would have bid to win the auction. I am merely speculating. Just wanted to know the exact price. Do post here when the actual figures come out.

Great! If this remains in the account without getting spent, means it is good. It will squashed all rumours about the coins getting dump which I think doesn't really make sense for someone who bought with such large quantity. And I see that going into one single account which the winner is only a person or a company?

Wow, to me it looks like two people teamed up and bought the lot, now that the deal is done, they seemed to have split the BTC. I am sure they will use a coin mixing service from here on in so people like us cannot track the BTC back to their owners. My guess is Tip Draper bought half of them and the remaining were purchased by the Twins. Can't say for sure though. Smiley

i seriously doubt if the buyer would dump all that coin though but if it is dumped the price is going to take a big hit. i am positioning myself again Cheesy (just in case)

I wish those were my address! Will be interesting to see what happens now. Will they be sold off or is whale gonna hodl?

It wouldn't make sense to dump all those coins.
The price would go down and the winner of the auction would result in a lose.

Nice finding. Still unconfirmed transaction, so fresh hehe.

As far as I know the name of the winner is not published? Or is it?

If the buyer was smart, they would not publish their name. Can't see any benefit in doing so, unless its a major company.

Definitely not, not voluntarily.

I meant does he have too? Is it a public auction?
As far as I know it's confidential.
