Looks like it is confirmed. The deposit is for staking. A Coinbase chart reveals a large uptick in staking coins. It looks like Tezos caused this uptick. Besides the dump should have happened by now. But it didn't so staking purposes it is.

i think this 500k will be use for staking because this is not good time to sell any altcoin. An investor with 500k tezos must know when is the best time to sell. I think this investor will stake and keep those coin on Binance for a good moment before selling all of them. Grin
that makes sense if we are seeing the holder is looking for the easiest way to get the staking reward and he can sell that instantly to the market. It looks like binance staking is really promising for some big holders consider about its liquidity.
if i have a lot of tezos and i could to the same but not for risking all of my money to the CEX.

^  Yup.  If I had 500k XTZ I'd stake them myself.  And it's been breaking out and what...  Doubled in like a month?  Uh oh...  Wink

Not saying I know for sure it's gonna go down.  Just saying, it's not a coincidence.

Edit:  And XTZ trending up with ATOM going over 3 billion USD in market cap at CMC could be a good thing.  Other alts could start doing their own moves too.  Grin  (I hope, I hope, I hope)

Well I just got of my coin check app and lo and behold, Tezos has done over 13 percent since this post. Obviously, all indicators now points to Staking. I personally doubt Tezos will risk the fame and position they have built over the year to be on top 10 coinmarketcap over a couple of million dollars
So you think that the team has moved a huge amount of coins to an exchange to earn the staking amount, it is really weird to consider that situation and even if an investor did that it is really risky to move a huge amount of coins to a third person site where you have no control over your coins and we know what happens when the site is hacked and we had that in the past, since the coins are not dumped in the market yet i still think that the coins are moved to dump the coins at a regular interval and not at once considering the halving it is highly likely someone is trying to get hold of bitcoin and disposing their other assets.

Considering the current market conditions, I think this transaction is probably done with the purpose of stake. However, it is true that this transaction may also be made for pre-sales preparation because at the end of this month, all investors have a downward expectation. For this reason, it is difficult to make a clear prediction yet, but as I mentioned in the first sentence, I think this is done for stake. Soon the news for what it's for is spread, and we're curious.

I think yeah, if it were meant for dumping it would have been done via multiple accounts and batches. With whale alerts and all that, you don't want to move that type of alt in that amount. Then again, people who dump don't really care.

And then again, why would you risk that big amount to stake on Binance?

yes absolutely right, Tezos can be higher than $ 1.5, at the beginning of 2018 able to $ 2 can even reach $ 5 more, the staking system offered on the Tezos platform also has a fairly high percentage, this makes whales and investors more happy to staking than sell it

A deposit into Binance may be an indicator of what’s to come. One user just deposited some 500,000 XTZ ($800k) into Binance from an unknown wallet. The deposit set off Whale Alert (@whale_alert), which notified its followers of the transfer earlier today.

I do not think this amount is deposited for the first time until now, perhaps we will not get a result as you think, or it is indeed deposited to influence the price. If there is another such drop in Binance after Matic, it will not be good for Binance. Actually, considering that tezos are used for staking, it is just an innocent investment.
The actions will take effect after the owner showed his real intention, once he dumped it completely then we can call it for such purpose but if he will keep  it and continue staking to earn more rewards then it will be good for Tezos investors. Right now whatever position you'll take its alarming if you have decent value of this coin inside your wallet, as you never know what to anticipate from this owner.

why they not staking tezos on coinbase ? as i know coinbase has given staking system to their user , well probably they not US citizen
and well, binance also have a same program , and also another staking system.
a few millions dollars worth of tezos just only for staking purpose?
You can be a delegate easily because it will bring you a lot of chance to be an endorser in the tezos blockchain and it's easy to do that

The fact that amounts already sent to the binance already dumped and if you are seeing the address that sent that tezos tokens have been dumping a lot of tezos coin in a few months ago too.

Who knows whether the team is behind this move, either way it is a huge amount of coins to be moved to an exchange considering the valuation of the coin. It is good to see that the wallets are monitored and i would like to know whether we will get to know about bitcoin and its fork coins if there is a huge valuation of coins been moved and if anyone knows any method to identify that it would be great.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
Although there is already a deposit of XTZ to Binance and it does not affect the price and there will not be a dump if it is transferred to Binance only for staking.
Tezos is currently up 6% and is likely to go up again if it's for staking at Binance.

Interesting. Wonder if whalealert takes the staking aspect into consideration when  sending out signals. I guess it sent sell alerts or something to many of its subscribers. And some may have acted on the signal and it got disappointed. I haven't tried the signal though, so I don’t know how it works exactly

It is not staking. The whale could have been staking in his own wallet prior to the move. There are only two scenarios here: One, he could be preparing to exit all his holdings. You could actually see it happen when resistance prices can't be broken in successive days. Second, he could be just trading it, providing liquidity to increase stash.

Dumping it seems unlikely, if i had this kind of money, i would definitely use it to scare people and manipulate markets, just by moving it, just like this.

Dumping is absolutely not the right thing to do now when the market conditions are very bad, and I think selling XTZ right now will not have a good price. So I think the number of XTZ transferred to that binance is for Staking.
I ask you now, why that whale was sending a lot of tezos coin in the past. If that whale has an intention to staking and why didn't he become a delegate as he was holding more than few million dollars worth of tezos coin.
that doesn't make sense to see that.
I guess with a lot of proof from the address we can take a conclusion about that. that whale is leaving the market right now.
I believe he was taking his profit.
Yes, maybe you was right, but many strong hands will buy when the market conditions are not as good as now, because they will have a good price. Then they will staking, waiting for the bull market to sell, both to gain in price and to profit from staking.

although we also saw a lot of big ETH transactions before because of hacking Upbit and bitcoin transactions at a low cost, nothing happened to the current price of bitcoin and ethereum, even if seen Binance is not a small exchange that is easily dumped, let alone a class of Tezos altcoin, but no one knows being careful might be better, i guess it might be staking

But let us all avoid jumping into conclusions immediately. People are already fond of tracking transfers or movements of large crypto amounts. All these are very normal. But people are really fond of creating a news out of it and then everyone else is free to speculate, create FUD, make conclusions, and so on that will affect the market but are actually baseless.
