that's really sad especially for his family the hopes of his family returning him home alive is now banished yes he returned home but he is dead. anyways people always do anything for money and the fact that he's owner of online casino and huge bitcoin holder which makes it more likely a target so, for huge btc holders, keep your identities safe or else your life is in danger and you'll might end up like this guy

He was the owner and founder of the sportsbook site https://www.5dimes.eu/
William Sean dead body was found but no one is sure who actually killed him.  This is a sad demise for a person with good business and money. I wonder who will run the sportsbook now, maybe his wife ?

They demanded 5 Million dollar from his wife but she only paid 1 million dollar to the kidnappers. Maybe the kidnappers were not satisfied with the amount and they finally killed him after he was being missing for an year or so.
He was an amercian book maker and made a lot of money through betting and gambling.

1m usd is already a pretty huge amount of sums but why they dont accept that offer and insist to kill thier hostage ? hmmm , i think those kidnappers dont really want money or they are already rich  but i think they only hated the guy because i think his websites is a competitor to them  . like on other business this act also happen due to insecurities   .   or maybe the guy has a loan to these kidnappers  or to thier big boss and he cant pay it or he didnt pay it on time  so he will take his life in exchange  .

This probably an assassination/revenge attack or the abductors were afraid of being exposed. It is possible they kept him that long because he saw their faces.
We could only speculate but that's enough reason why they killed him, they know he has the resources and the connection and he can make a way to trace them.

We can only wonder at this point what would have happened if the full 5$ million ransom was paid in BITCOIN he still may be here today
But this TONY had a bad reputation as it is so sadly we can assume it was going to happen to him at some point if he made the wrong people mad

They are hardcore criminals they may want more after they pay $5 million ransom, the masterminds, and their cohorts have arrested but after that incident, many gambling operators will stop visiting that country or they might hide their identity before going to places that are known for kidnapping for fear of being kidnapped.
No what I am trying to say is maybe if they just paid up front the full 5$ million then may be they would have let him go
We need some more details why they only paid 20% of the ransom they asked when these 5 DIMES has so much $$$

Definitely a sad story to read, just goes to show that paying a ransom doesn't always go to plan, since most criminals realize that once they let their victim go they'll stand a higher chance of being caught than if they just kill them—sucks.

That must be why the police and governments of most countries refuse to negotiate with terrorists and hostage takers, since this is the kind of sh*t that can happen.
Wise thing to be done if we do try to think thoroughly.Better to kill the hostage and leave no trace than to let it go which would increase the chance for them to get caught.
Perhaps he really knows the identity of his kidnappers that's why he didn't gave him the chance to escape even if the $1 Million ransom money has been paid through bitcoin. They can easily hide and move around the money without a trace.

This is why we do commonly see hostage takings do end up on this way yet they don't have any choice if they don't like for themselves to get caught. They might able to
get away with authorities but their conscience will haunt them forever.
Privacy and security. He should have hire a body guard or really take care of himself not roaming a country which he is not accustomed to. Yeah, I do hope that the authorities (with the aid of US government (I'm assuming that they will investigate this since a US citizen is involved) will caught the perpetuators of this senseless killings.
If you are a businessman which holds or do have millions of net worth then its just normal to think regarding on your own safety.

Majority of them do neglect into those basic things without even realizing that danger is just lurking in the shadows and just waiting up for them to strike once
they do had the opportunity but sadly people are way too confident in terms of their own security. If I do have the money just like them then hiring personal guards would be a dime.

This is a very strange story, according to the article in January of this year police arrested 12 people suspected of being involved in the abduction, but only now that they found their body? The police had plenty of time to interrogate the 12 suspects and in all that time would be more than enough for at least some of those 12 suspects to confess where they hid the body. but only now that they found the body? this is very strange

I feel bad for them... Today, a lot of crimes are occurring around the world just for money. With his case, he became vulnerable for such crime because he's influential and has a lot of money. That's what criminals want, they're capable of doing anything for money. We cannot change what happened, but this would serve as a lesson to everyone as well, not to disclose every information about you. And always keep in private.
Well, just because there were always greed and lazy people out there. They want quick money and their target are those rich and having business people and it means the most influential and has a lot of money. But the worst thing is they use bitcoin in committing crimes which is give a bad effect on it. Well, truly it just serves as a lesson to those who have the owner of an online/offline gambling site that must do your security first. Indeed, Satoshi Nakamoto was right, be remain anonymously and you will be fine.

This is how risky for a popular gambling operator to travel to a place he is not familiar, he should employ a lot of bodyguards since he has a lot of  money, this is a warning to all gambling operator, they will not want to identify their real identity to any popular gambling site, for fear that this crime will also happen to them.
the criminals are very cruel they should have let him since he pays $1 million already, this is already a big amount in their currency.

The extortion cases with BTCitcoin is becoming a popular theme and we need more privacy if you are big shot or a business owner in this platform as criminals are targeting them for easy money and it is a worrying scene as i have seen many similar cases in the past and now the owner was murdered even after paying the ransom of one million dollars. The lessons learned after seeing all these cases are never to flaunt your wealth without any private security with you.

This is a sad news and it shows no one is safe especially when you have big money like 5Dimes founder.I think a capital punishment is needed in certain cases like these when the victim has been suffering a lot and is even killed after the suffering.I am really sorry for him but this has to serve as an example for many others to not dwelve alone but to get trusted bodyguards from relatives and safeguard themselves.

That’s awful, I guess it highlights the need for anonymity in under developed countries when you’re wealthy especially through crypto.

This is not entirely gambling-related but rather a concern worthy of being discussed in the Bitcoin Discussiom boards.

Yep, this is somewhat complex. If you run a business and nobody knows who you are, then the chance of you being a scammer is higher. On the other hand, if you publish who you are, things like kidnapping might happen quite often.

It's a dilemma if people thought you're the one who holds the money of the business. It's even more dangerous if the country you live in can't protect you that much. If this is the condition, then staying low might be a better choice while you'll need to use an escrow or something like that for your business (if you want to run it and not use it to scam people).

One of the many reasons why privacy is still a very important aspect nowadays in this world full of famewhores and wannabes. Who knows what the guy endured for a year before getting killed, and even with the ransom paid in full, they still killed him. It's really hard to make a footing in the crypto world and establish your business. Getting known publicly is a double-edged sword, and Creighton definitely suffered at the sharper end of it.

This is not entirely gambling-related but rather a concern worthy of being discussed in the Bitcoin Discussiom boards.

They are asking $5 million and they gave them $1 million, this could be the reason why they murder him, they want to extract more millions knowing their hostage is a multi-millionaire, this is one big reason why gambling operators chooses to run their gambling site without giving their real name as the owner.
So, in this case, we could not blame gambling operators here that being hide their real identity. They want of being anonymous because of they afraid to show their identity in public for the reason that they must have security. Sad to know this news and this could be alarming to those owners of gambling site who run by not hiding their real identity. But the saddest thing is that bitcoin is very well known to use payment in crimes such as killing, ransom or even buying drugs. I hope someday it will be known to donate in churches and charity program-related
