this is why you shouldn't accept screen shots of things like wallets as they can easily be forged.
It was a joke.

Would you prefer 333.33 testnet coins, or a slip of paper with a random QR code that claims to have 333.33 BTC on mainnet?

Yup the section is just a joke these days. Bad scam attempts, they don't even really try these days.

What would be an example of a collateral?

An altcoin like Litecoin and Dogecoin that the lender considers stable enough to offset risk.

Not all users agree on how collateral should be handled; due to the pseudanonymous + no-chargeback nature of bitcoin which has never been seen, nobody knows the optimal parameters yet. Some believe it should cover less, such as 70%, while others may forgo it.

Bitcoin loans pretty much just don't work. I don't see how they ever will without a reputable company with trust and a license or insurance or something. I could ask for 1 BTC, say I will pay 10% interest, and then just disappear off these forums, and run away with my ~650$. There really is no guarantee that it will be paid back.

Collateral my friend. Thats how loans here can be secured.

The interesting part of it is that he actually contacted some people at the Bitcoin Foundation (the one we love to hate) and asked them for their support. Sometimes you have to got to bed with the devil to get your money back I guess  Tongue

Sometimes I am glad that I am poor. If I would by mistake send someone THAT amount of BTC my guilt would kill me. Literally.

Not if you have 8k BTC. Its all relative, if you send half of your money by mistake, even if it is a small amount it would still kill you.

Yes I would send it if I could since you seem like a good person and I'm sure you would send it back after a while.

Thought it was real for a second. That would have been the funniest thing if some rich guy send that for fun.

Well there are people who just send about 800 BTC to freaking Mark Karpeles magic mountain company whilst it is already in midst of bankruptcy! I'm still amazed that that guy got his BTC back!

Really? I would like to read some article about it..

Did he get it back? oh damm I never thought he would of. Although, he should really take that as a wake up call and shouldn't make silly mistakes again.

Didn't know he got it back. Quite lucky, but how stupid one can be to flippantly just send over 800 BTC.
