There will be more additions to the list of those who accepts crypto over fiat payments and especially we heard about btc or ETH payments only as they prefer to be safe to some extent and enjoy the profits in the long run. They take huge amount of funds in form of salary so just imagine how much they can make if they hold for only few years and that's why they suddenly become interested in accepting it.

Expected. But that's just 7 out of how many? Tom Brady has his purpose but if he can pull more NFL players into doing such a wild thing (for them) then it will all be good. Because next to it will be the fans who doesn't know about Bitcoin and will try to google what is it.
Some NBA players also did the same so I guess we will just need to wait for this to grow in numbers as time flies by. Good news, indeed.
They are still in small numbers who make decisions to adopt crypto but this will grow if the others see how good it was. They did this for some reason, one is to make additional income, 2nd is for promotion, and the last is adoption. As if they can prove that crypto is more beneficial with them than fiat, they will encourage others to do the same.

I see this as a stepping stone to make this crypto a currency alternative to fiat. It can never be widely used if nothing has to take the risk first and this group of people had made it right. What I'm just hoping for them is if they keep their crypto in a safe wallet.

Many people understand the value of cryptocurrencies, so they try to adopt them in their lives. Many celebrities get rid of salary in fiat in favor of crypto. Also there are many famous people who create their NFTs and sell them to fans, so we observe how crypto becomes more and more popular among celebrities that promote it as well.

NFT collectibles is now starting to be discovered by these athletes not only artists, as part of reaching out to their fans. Later on, many of these athletes will create their own NFT collectible series, which is a good way to earn income. We are going digital in terms of finding collectibles from our idols. And in terms of accepting salary in crypto, I believe the number will grow big in the next years to come. Now, that they are seeing the potential of btc or other crypto, they will be convinced on accepting it as alternative to fiat.

Some of the players who chose crypto over cash are:

1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Tom Brady
3. Odell Beckham Jr.
4. Trevor Lawrence
5. Saquon Barkley
6. Sean Culkin
7. Aaron Jones

Interestingly, Brady has a partnership with FTX to promote the exchange, and he earns crypto through this along with equity in the company. Others similarly are incentivized by various companies.

All will go to crypto in due course.  Grin
Believe me, this is still the smallest part that later in 2022 we hope not only from a handful of athletes. At least later a football club will set all players to be paid with crypto, especially Bitcoin. Doesn't this sound even more amazing? Besides, there may be other athletes who are not mentioned. In the future, it is certain that there will be more simultaneous requests for payments using Bitcoin.

Athletes and sports could be a logical market for crypto ventures to tap. Given Floyd Mayweather Jr's support of ICO start ups. And Mike Tyson owning bitcoin ATMs. It seems that the UFC and other sports have become involved with crypto.com and plaster their ads everywhere. I really hope its the beginning of a beautiful partnership, where everyone involved can benefit.

NFL players are a little late hopping on the crypto bandwagon but I am definitely glad they are taking the initiative. Hopefully they will make a lot of money and profit.

As a huge football fan I’ve been aware of these guys being in crypto for quite some tone now. Tom Brady has been the biggest cryptocurrency/ bitcoin supporter of them all. It’s pretty amazing to me seeing so many famous athletes find interest in bitcoin and backing it with such huge support !

I am not an expert on American Football by any means, but I am guessing that most of those men on the list made substantial amounts of money so far in their careers, and can afford to play around with putting all of their new earnings towards crypto, as an investment. I wouldn't make too much out of it, these are highly paid athletes that have enough to take extreme risks, not the norm. But, good for them for investing into crypto.

It's a wise choice. I've seen celebrities that have chosen to be paid in the stocks and later on made a lot after years of holding it. This is the same as what he's doing.
Choosing up stocks does have a bit of assurance but speaking with crypto then probabilities is there but to mind off about price swings then they could possibly also earn less compared on what they do have saved.

Its really good to look at that players are getting some interest or have recognized crypto existence and just like on what you said that if they do have huge fan base then it would
add up on the exposure which we do all we need.

Recognition is getting bigger as we do go ahead.
I'll choose crypto than the stock if I'll be given an option but it depends to the company that have offered you to get paid in stocks so you have no option and you're working for them.

This is the current generation's wise choice for these people. Choosing to get paid in stocks/crypto as they're all set for the long term and don't mind to be patient and wait until it grows.

IMO they're doing it for popularity and could become an ambassador like Brady to get paid more. Receiving salaries in crypto is bad because most of altcoins are pump and dump, it's just risky to get paid in crypto. However if they got paid in Bitcoin, it's better but if they're not comfortable of high volatility it's better if they still get paid in cash.

Only the first 2 I am familiar with but surely the others are more popular for American sporting fans.
We can only hope that more athletes from Americas will follow through in their footsteps and choose bitcoin instead of cash.

Yes, as crypto companies become the new blue chips, they will of course infiltrate sporting events and advertisements. Athletes like everyone else follow where the money is, so this type of sponsorship will only increase already fast growth. These athletes in turn will further speed up mainstream adoption with their influence.

They are not many people if you compare to other NFL players who prefer fiat over bitcoin, these players prefer bitcoin because they can have to invest in bitcoin whenever they receive their payments, there are many other companies that offer bitcoin and crypto payments to their employees, but still, I heard some of these companies feel regret of offering bitcoin payments because the bitcoin increasing it value during the last years. you mentioned 7 players and I know 2 of them but that's no proof to say only 7 players are interested in cryptocurrencies, there are many other NFL players who will invest in bitcoin by exchanging the money after they got it in cash.

Choosing cryptocurrency as the way to get paid is certainly a good news for all of us especially if we are talking here of famous people like sports and entertainment figures. And since these people can easily get the attention of the mainstream media, what they are doing can always be mentioned in the news. I am sure that they are looking on Bitcoin and other cryptos to be a good investment into the future and they are convinced that it got real, lucrative value so they are holding them for the next many years...rather than just saving their money in form of the usual fiat in banks which can be eaten in value by the ongoing inflation affecting the USA economy right now.

Good initiative from them, I hope that their fans would be doing the same for them to have a brighter future. This is actually a good thing when these players have a large fan base and they've heard that their idol is into crypto.

It seems you've missed Russell Okung [they've mentioned his name in Barkley's description]... According to "this [#2]" article, he's a free agent but last year, he received $6.5M in BTCitcoin!

I know Sean Culkin converted his entire salary to bitcoin which is more than the rest.
Small note: It's only for "this year", but still a bold move.

Nice, they are buying through the Strike app.
Let's hope they're storing it in a proper wallet, as opposed to keeping it in there:

  • we’ve partnered with Prime Trust, LLC, a state-regulated trust company, which holds your funds in custody and enables funds transfers.

Only a few of them really chose crypto over cash. I know Sean Culkin converted his entire salary to bitcoin which is more than the rest. Most of those guys put a small portion of their wealth into cryptocurrency. Notice I said cryptocurrency and not bitcoin. Sean was the only one to be full bitcoin. I believe Saquon is almost entirely bitcoin but he hinted on socials a while ago that he may have others as well.

These athletes though are somehow turning fans into Bitcoin believers which I guess is making the soundbite of getting into crypto over cash salaries and Bitcoin is the future just as they tweet. Snoopdog wasn't the first rapper who publicly says he is into NFT or cryptocurrency but sure their fans are also trying to understand this hype. Crytpocurrencies are just spreading through celebrities so we are just going to see more of them.
