Yes, most probably as a bait. What is the use of higher prices when a new coin just promises only some anonymity where many coins has offered the same levels on it. Price of an altcoin may get dumped over night. An altcoin namely 42, hit cryptsy with the price of 2000BTC, but over days dumped to below 500 BTC.

But honestly I start to think that it is a ponzi scheme,there is no way that the mining costs are that high to produce a single Zcash.
I hope that the price will be stable soon,as I really like the idea of zcash

This is exactly what Zcash reminded me of. 42coin was a silly coin that had almost no real features and it was just worth a lot because the supply was so small (Just 42 coins)
Supposedly I think zcash has some new features in comparison to scrypt/bitcoin coins.

Expect the price to go in a similar fashion to 42coin; there's just not much else to do with it except for the enhanced security it has over bitcoin. If it even survives, which I doubt it will, the price will be around or lower than 1BTC.

I think it was a marketing move from Zcash team. I don't think people are that stupid to pay ridiculous amount of money to a trash. It's still way overpriced, it would down %10000 for next 7 days. When the hype is over only buyers will cry. Make money out of thin air, brilliant idea!

What does it matter what the per coin cost is ? It just means it will be broken down into smaller amounts. Though I do get that it is strange a coins is worth more then btc but it is probably more rare ? Or like the guy a few posts above said about how the price is for when a new console comes out.
