Really good info you compiled there mate.

Such things are needed much more for newbies and people already on this forums i think. I would suggest spread the text around outside this forum.

i have been mining for sometime now but sometimes i still miss something.. stumbled upon this.. and found interesting things..

thankyou for that.

Great tutorial-posing, it is a big help for a newbie who are able to start mining using windows10 operating system. And i think this's enough for starting. But maybe next post you can more add about comparison other OS. So we can decided who's better...

Thank you!

You wrote:

Temperature reference
0 to 70C - Perfect
70 to 75C - Okay
75 to 80C - Regular
80 to 85C - Assume long term damage and smaller lifespan
85 to 90C - Definitive long term damage and smaller lifespan
90C+ - Can you smell the burning?

It's all about GPU, Power or MEM temperatures?

Everything went perfectly up to the point where I put in the package removal code.... I got an error regarding:

AppxPackage with an exception from HRESULT: 0x80073CFA

PeopleExperienceHost could not be uninstalled

There's a bit more info, but that's the jist of it (can't figure out how to paste a screenshot here).

I did remember to run as admin, so I guess that's why everything else uninstalled fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

This is an awesome tutorial. Very detailed and itemized guide! I just wish I had seen this before I started to build my own mining rig.
I hope the author can continue updating. Too bad that I saw this too late, but it still helps.
Kudos to the author!

good tutorial... nice done Smiley

wow so much information, I had no idea this existed. well done!  So why aren't more people doing it? Is it ignorance? or apathy? I just can't believe word hasn't passed down. It shouldn't be kept a secret, and it won't be for long. So if you think someone is worthy give them a hand.

I think it needs to be updated though.

Add recommended new GPU's eg. nvidia 1080ti , 1070 etc and Vega, I don't know much about vega.

And the cost of the rig and its return should be updated. I got a couple of 1080ti's for about $960usd each. So 3k sounds a little rich , surely the rest of the PC can be less than $1080 usd . And also the return, I am getting roughly $15 usd per day for 2x 1080ti's.

I just use a windows software - awesome miner as its easy.

If anyone want's to ask me anything, feel free.

Really I'm searching something exactly like this. It's a very nice post with awesome descriptions. Is there any way to use Linux Operating system?

Some of the tools for flashing the cards are only available as a x64 executable, meaning you have to have a Windows running machine or run them inside Linux, which often doesn't work well. Maybe I will do a Linux version in the future, but primarily I want to have the Windows version finished.

Thank you very much.

This is insanely good work.

Thank you for doing the write up. I hope someone does similar work on -how to write and configure .bat files manually and what each option in the file stands for and means.

Btw I have a question.

I have a Regular gaming pc

I have these slots.

Slot 1: PCI-Express x16 Gen 3i
Slot 2: PCI-Express x4 Gen 2
Slot 3: PCI-Express x16 Gen 3i
Slot 4: PCI-Express x1 Gen 2
Slot 5: PCI-Express x16 Gen 3i

and 1500 watt PSU

Also, what's your recommendations as to - if I get 1 x 1080ti or dual 1070 ? considering 1070 is an year old and if currency goes down even more 1080ti will hold better value.

Hey, thank you very much.

I will do some improvements to the guide in the next few days. I will add instructions for the most famous windows miners, nvidia card recommendations, and nvidia overclocking guide for mining. Check back in a few days please. Smiley

About your last question, PCI bandwidth or version doesn't have a perceptible effect on mining (it has some 5% impact on gaming tho). If your mobo got 5 PCI slots, potentially you can mine 5 GPUs (if you are not using one of the PCI for a adapter, for instance), just buy some powered risers (usually they are PCIEx1, but take care with what you are buying). Also, check if your mobo got an extra molex connector to power the PCIE connectors, mining is pretty power intensive, and you will not want to power 5 power hungry gpus using just one molex connector because eventually your mobo will burn. I will add this to the guide, thank you.

The 1500 PSU is way more than you need even if you do not undervolt those cards, but ideally you will want to undervolt each of them to 100W area. I have added a PSU calculator to the resources area. Take a look please.

Nice guide.
I would recomend the following fans:
http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/fans/slip-stream-120-db.html
They are two times cheaper than Noctua with great MTTF 350000 Hrs and have the same efficiency and noise level as Noctua

Now what does this translate into? - How many cards I can run ? -only three right? since 1080ti runs on x16 ?

Nothing wrong with simple miner OS
Is it possible to dual mine already?
Thanks

Dual mining is a go for SMOS; however, its has no CCMiner implementation. Which leads to the biggest issue - you have to wait for the DEV to allow a miner. (full disclosure I still use SMOS on an nvidia rig to do ZEC)

Last time I checked it was not supported. I will give them a try.
Thank you very much.

Yes, I did. I tried Ubuntu and then EthOS, but I kept a Windows 10 Pro partition where I had the tools to mod the GPUs. The mining test on both OSs were pretty similar. I'm very sure professional miners do tweak the SO kernel in same way to obtain a small hashrate improvement per GPU, but for the average user like me it is just the same. A clean Windows 10 Pro is very stable, and at some point I had no reason to comeback to the linux partition.

I have not tried older Windows versions.

Thanks,
Best
