Thinking cool. Money $ 500 is not much, if you could be patient you can keep the money into BTC for a long time, then you will get profit from BTC raising prices for sure. But if you want to multiple your money in the trading market, you will have much opportunity to earn more in a short time or lose a lot, because playing trading is risky but worth it.

My question is.. what do you think? Its a decent chunk of money for me to just hope something keeps rising, do you think I should "let it ride" or cash out and just be happy with ~$500?

Nah just do not do anything with that money, you have three options.

Withdraw it, and enjoy your money
Invest it, and stay months to earn a good money (500$ is nothing to invest)
Or just hold it.

as for me - I would better keep it in BTC.
But if you really need money now - than you need to cash it out

0.03 isn't that much right now. I would just keep it and forget about it and it will be worth a lot, lot more someday.

You can hold it or sell it to make some investments. But it is better to hold it because bitcoin is still growing and it can make you more money even it is just only 0.03 btc today.
You must keep it for a long period of time because it can give you a high profit that can be your source of income. Or hold it because the value is rising now so when you hold it you can have a lot of earning even its 0.03 right now.

If don't really need the money now, don't cash it out and wait for the money to grow since bitcoin prices nowadays are really fluctuating hard. If it does fluctuate up and you still have your 0.03, then you'll more than a $500 payout. Just check some exchanges and verify them first before diving in to exchange your bitcoins.

Do you badly need some cash right now that you have to convert your Bitcoin? I think there is no need to hurry converting your Bitcoin into cash if you do not have any urgent needs. Bitcoin is still growing and will continue to grow in the coming months. You still have the chance to get a more huge profit. Just be patient and continue to believe in the future of Bitcoin.

I think you should wait the right time and earn more bitcoin because its price are increasing day by day, if you know how to trade you can do trading, buying and selling coins buy low sell if high. If you go to trading? First you need to research a perfect coin that has a good movement in the exchange but don't dont use all your BTC in trading maybe .01 then the .02 keep it in your wallet.

You can cash out the money if it has something to do for you, but I will advise you not to cash out all of it. If you leave a little of it, the price will rise and give you some profits, but if you leave all of it, the price will rise higher than when you take out of it.
If you are broke, you can withdraw but not all.

0.03 Bitcoin is about $ 600. I really can not give you advice because your friend has given you a nice present and you do not know their talent. Since the price of bitcoin is quite high, I can not give investment advice either. I do not care about the Altcoins. But I think you can bet if you trust your luck.

If $500 isn't something you need right now and won't be too upset if it drops a bit, then you should hold. BTC seems to be in a bullish period right now, if you can then maybe hold for few weeks and get some extra bucks easily.

hey, it depends on you, $500 is enough to roll in btc, you can invest it all or maybe a portion of it, let say, 80% of it, or you can cash it out, as some experts say in investing, invest only what is not needed, meaning, you can invest some extra money that is meant to be stagnant for a little longer period of time.
