This is a sad story and this must have been that the victim risked almost his life savings, however I wonder why someone will do such to the extent of taking his own life because of money, nothing worth to compare with life ,if there is life there is hope and he can even make more that money as life goes on ,this is why it's necessary we always stick to risking what you are capable of losing each time you are taking a risk in the gambling world. The victim took his case to extreme, if it were to be someone in this forum he would have come across a lot of post or thread talking about how to manage risk.
What I can feel is that people are very destitute and depressed when they lose their money, but when people are in a lot of debt and that debt is damaged, they feel extra stress and because of the extra stress, they take decisions like suicide. The person that OP shared the incident must have lost all his money and also he may have taken extra money loan to recover his money and the money he took loan may have damaged that is why he took such a big decision. He felt that he might never be able to pay off his debt and never earn the amount of money he had lost. From such thoughts he may have made death easier. When I hear such incidents, my heart shakes without knowing how people can give their lives.

This is the most ridiculous act and the worst decision a gambler has made, he has left a bad impression on gambling due to his decision to end his life. Family, relatives and people who live around where they live will view gambling as a dangerous and frightening activity because it can have fatal consequences for their mental health and family life.
Gambling is just a game, there is nothing dangerous that can result from gambling as long as the gambler is able to control himself or play responsibly. Wrong thinking when gambling can have bad consequences for the gambler's life, for example what happened to this young man.

We can say that, that person did not learned how to lose. I dont know why it is stressed that due to gambling he has decided to end his life, because in general he was emotionally unstable. It does not supposed to be exactly gambling that triggered his wish to leave this world. He might have similarly lost in a video game, lost his wallet, had a bad day, relationship might have ended. That last message with his plan to end his life, that he has left in social media shows his mental instability. People dont get such mentally unstable instantly. So it would be correct no to feel sorry about him, not to evaluate his decision, but to blame people who surrounded him, because they did not anything to help him.

The crazy part is that gambling addiction seems so harmless at first which for this business man may have been because your so blind to everything around you that all your focused on is trying to win big, double your money or trying to recover an earlier loss not knowing that everything around you is falling apart little by little it starts to affect your mood, your family and even your job and in this case here, your business. It’s a crazy world to live the gamblers life.
Someone who has the desire to win big will keep trying to gamble until he succeeds in getting it. But he doesn't realize that it will only make him develop a gambling addiction that he won't realize so his desire to win big will only make him lose even more money. He doesn't need to focus on winning big because gambling will not always give him a win, even if he can win. And someone who wants to double his money should give up because he will have difficulty doing it. There have been many victims of gambling addiction, some of whom ended their lives because they could not bear to see their huge losses.

It will be a cowardice behavior to take your life because you’ve lost some money to betting. It has been always said several times to use the money you can afford to lose while betting. If you are not convinced enough to make your mind feel so, then don’t even try to bet or even start that because the after effect is always worse than the initial effect.

If he has lost such amount to gambling and took his own life because of that then he has no regards for the precious life. Would they ever be anything in this world that is worth taking your life for? I don’t think there’s any and anyone that does that has no regards for their family and loved ones.

This should serve as lesson to other gamblers not to just gamble just because they see other people making it through gambling. It is a game of luck and uncertainty, if it goes well for you today and tomorrow, it doesn’t mean it will always go well in that matter continuously. It is good to take caution very early.
Every person has a different mental condition and it is true that suicidal behavior is a very stupid act. I have heard of various reasons why people commit suicide for different reasons, but the strongest is because of financial problem. Indeed, losing a lot of money makes our minds become confused. chaotic even for those who cannot control their emotions and there are also those who get depressed because they think too much about the money they lost and cannot recover their losses, indeed gamblers should be aware that if they bet with money they cannot afford to lose, they should avoid gambling because gambling is full of risky of defeat.

Of course this can be a lesson for gamblers as I said before, and yes gambling is a game of chance and not everyone experiences the same luck and achieves big results together so it's better to use gambling as best as possible and use as little as possible so that you don't experience too much disappointment when the money is lost.

I was coward to kill myself. No amount of money that I lost that will make me kill myself. If there is life there is hope.

This kind of problem starts from depression and hopelessness. He might thought there is no way out anymore. But this is wrong. He might be richer than what he thought he would have become if he has not killed himself.

It is painful to hear this kind of story.

When I was addicted to gambling, I lost huge amount of money and I was depressed and thought there is no future for me. But I saw more opportunities that I was not expecting after I thought all has ended.
It's true that there's no amount of money that it triggers you to kill yourself but that don't mean that you're a coward for doing that, tell that opinion to a person who lost their loved ones to suicide and then come back here and see if that's the truth, the Japanese don't even see suicide as cowardly sometimes because there are times when it's an honorable one. It is painful to hear that story but to start your post about cowardice is probably the most hypocritical that you can do, in fact whatever you're saying after that it's true.

I'm reading the replies in the thread and it sickens me that it seems that everyone here is soulless as I think they are and that you people are just here to fill your quotas in your signature campaigns, you might not know this people but the point of the news is that a person killed himself and it's probably not just because of the money that he's lost so stop saying stuff that are insensitive and keep that to yourself, it's weird that you criticize the person who killed himself and at the same time try to garner sympathy by saying fake stuff like you've experienced depression, you're not depressed trust me, you're just retarded and you know who you are and you are too many to mention.

I don't want to say this but it seems there's no other person to blame but the gambler himself. First, he knows that $3k is too much for him to lose, so why did he gamble it? What did he expect with gambling? That it was a sure win? I'm sure he wasn't forced to continue betting until all of the $3k was gone. It was definitely his personal decision. Second, why is suicide the way to deal with it? But this was also his personal decision. I'm sure nobody was pointing a gun at his head to commit suicide.

So all these are this man's free actions. He did all of them. Therefore they were all his fault.

First of all, allow me to tell you about something that happened in my environment.
With the existence of online gambling nowadays, many people know this and also do this and in my opinion this is the fact that many people gamble online to the point that their lives change drastically. I have neighbors who have children who are still young and quite mature, with their current social interactions, they are always updated on the internet and this makes them familiar with online gambling and this young man quickly understood it, one day he lost all the money he had and also his savings because he was gambling, and when this young man ran out of money he forced his parents to ask him for other reasons than to gamble, this was repeated many times so that his parents became suspicious of him, and finally his parents no longer gave him money. money to him and finally this young man took out an online loan where this young man applied for a loan which was not small in the agreed terms and would be returned at the specified time. Not long after, this young man again ran out of money where  the money from his initial loan had run out. used for gambling, it didn't stop him from making an online loan again but it was different from the first one, he used other access that was different from the first one, so everything kept repeating like this and left this young man in a lot of debt.

and one day this young man was approached by several people who said they were from an online loan company whose aim was to collect the debt that this young man had incurred, this family was disappointed, angry, sad because what this young man had done had made things difficult for him. all his family and this also happened many times because this young person took out loans not only from one company, and one time this young person had no news for a whole day and his parents were worried about their child because he had not been home for a whole day, and the next day This young man was found hanging himself in a garden not far from his house, but rarely did anyone pass by the garden so no one knew that this young man would commit suicide.
Suddenly my neighborhood was busy because of this incident, and from here I could see firsthand the dangerous impact of online gambling which could turn someone into trouble in all sorts of ways. It can also make them crazy or stressed if they don't have self-control. and also I think that this young man from my neighbor hanged himself because he was addicted to gambling, and took the wrong action by taking out a large loan and he couldn't pay off all his debts and maybe he became stressed and in the end he ended his life. So in my opinion, don't be careless with gambling, because the bad effects are enormous if we are addicted to gambling.

and in my opinion, if you really want to do gambling, just do it naturally don't expect more from gambling because this is just a game not a source of money. so don't do something too much because it can bring disaster later. enjoy gambling don't and overdo it.

So what was he thinking in the very beginning—that he would always win all the time—and what kind of confidence made him wager what he couldn't afford to lose up to the extent that the loss shocked him enough to take his life? Some people will never learn how gambling works; they think everything will just dance to their tune all the time.

I pity for him and I also stand to oppose any means of making or spending money that'd prolly push anyone into depression or homicide
Sandra 🧑‍🦰

Do you pity the dead? They don't have anything to lose again. Who I'm concerned about right now is the family of the deceased; the people who he has owed might be after the family; the burial expense is also on the family's head; and the money that he has lost, even if it's gathered together, won't be enough to solve the problem that he has brought to the family, so I don't even pity him at all.

Apparently this is a true live event happened in my State this week and almost everyone is talking about it. About a young man that killed himself after a gamble loss, he even left a message for his family and friends before taking his life.  But I wonder why should someone take his own life  just because he lost  #2.5 million to gambling an amount  equivalent to just about $3k. I can relate to his loss but taking your life is something unimaginable and unjustifiable to do. No matter the regrets suicide isn't an option to be taking as a solution , you are only leaving bigger pains  behind for your loved ones.

This is just another reminder to we all gamblers that no bet is sure and guaranteed, don't ever use an amount of money you are not comfortable to lose just because you feel convicted in your mind that the game will play as predicted. There's no such thing as sure bet in gambling.

Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?

If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.

No amount of money can make me commit a suicide. I'm gambling occasionally and purely for fun but even if I'd make a huge bet for some reason and lose, that won't make me take my own life. I mean it's just money It's not worth it.

This was the wrong thing to do. There are ups and downs in life and as for gambling too. Taking your life for some looses is far too unimaginable. I have seen many people losing thousands of thousands of dollars in an brink of an eye but never taking their life. Not just only with gambling but the other looses. But that doesn't mean there will always be looses. There can be no silver line without the clouds. So we should remind ourselves, suicide can never be an option.

Not only wrong but indeed I think they are stupid enough to give up their own lives just because they lose in gambling, I am sure that such people do not have an understanding or the intention is not to understand the actual concept that exists in gambling. The error  of thinking that makes them take their hopes too seriously is the main cause for a gambler to enter the addiction zone.

That is why you may often hear some advice from other people's ideas that we must be very careful in responding to gambling, there are many things there that can make you violate  the plan, especially the limits that you have built at the beginning, the weak application of self-control and boundaries makes them finally fall into the zone of addiction. In addition, the right understanding will make you a responsible gambler who can accept the risks at the end of the session. Basically, someone who has been dominated by lust will not be able to think clearly to make some considerations, all they think about is how they can gamble, the cycle of addiction creates a lot of pressure on gamblers who finally when depression and stress approach then it is not strange if they take unexpected actions such as suicide.

Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?
If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.

There are more reasons why this person died than this. As I read this in one of the country's new papers, the main reason this person took his own life was as a result of not using only his money to play this bet. But after a series of losses over the month, he finally saw a game he taught that would make him recover all that he had lost in the past, and wagering with just a small amount was not enough for him, so he insisted on taking loans from colleagues and friends, whose money he took from them was even higher than what he put in the game himself.

So what makes him take his life is not knowing how to repay back all this loan he took and the share of facing those who he has borrowed money from who know the excuse that he used to take that loan.

It's just a pity that someone will borrow to gamble and lose instead of looking for means necessary to repay, like selling property, pleading for extensions, or anything else, he decides to take his own life over money he can make within a year. Now he knows nothing about what the family is facing right now as a result of his selfish decision.

This exactly the reason why it's advised never to gamble with loan money or use gambling as a backup plan because you might just end up being disappointed and not everyone can be able to manage such a disappointment.

I understand what the fellow must have been through, but he's supposed to have truly understood the true nature of gambling, you can't completely rely on it to solve your immediate problem because you don't know luck will be on your side, it may fall on the day you least expect, if he had really understood this then he wouldn't have used gambling as a backup plan to raise money to repay his debt. But this still wasn't enough reason for him to take his life, several times we can find ourselves in situations that seems to be the end of the road for us but there always turns out to be a way out, I'm pretty sure if he had held on a while longer, he would've gotten a way out of his predicament rather than taking his own life.

Why would he run into a suicidal option just for losing to a casino?... Nobody asked him to wager on games innit; even though he made the worst decisions to do so, committing a suicide wasn't the best options to have taken at that point... I understand that sometimes, he's not even the rightful owner of money he spent; so at that point, karma cuts up with him and he starts getting the repercussions of his deeds right away - cus definitely, he's gonna think of means to pay back and sometimes, there are impossibilities to that...

I pity for him and I also stand to oppose any means of making or spending money that'd prolly push anyone into depression or suicide.

These things are real

  • A person can gamble with loan money with the aim of making profit so he'll pay back the loan. He might become depressed if he eventually loses everything. Suicide becomes an option inorder  to be free from his tormentor ( creditor)
  • A person can foolishly gamble with all he has got in the world,  hoping to double his wealth and live the kind of life he has always desired. If the outcome does not go as he expected, he might get depressed and frustrated. Making different thoughts (including suicide) run through his mind.
  • A person who got addicted might lose money, lose friends, lose family and even lose his mind. Loneliness and social isolation kills.

All these things are real and many people are suffering from problems they cannot tell anyone. Reason I will not stop advising people to gamble responsibly because the consequences and be very bad.[/list]

It is very sad, keeping in mind all the context. Even though I have read about stories like this one in the past, about people taking the wrong decision after losing money to a casino, what baffles me about this specific case is how much this person loss and which has pushed him to take his own life and leave his family and friends behind.
Granted, 3000$ is not pocket change and it can certainly be a small fortune in developing countries, but if we are realistic on this person's situation, I believe he would have gotten all that money back in a year or two by saving and investing responsibly part of his salary. It makes me believe that this person was not a simple problem gambler like other one can see in the street and in empoverished communities, this man probably suffered from very serious mental issues and complexes of inferiority, those could have led them to believe he was nothing if he did not have that money and continued to accumulate more.

I don't know what else to say... If he managed to confess to his family about his loss and the fact he was feeling suicidal, perhaps he could have found some support and avoided this destiny. That is one thing I have noticed from gamblers who decided to end it all, they do not talk about how they feel or the shame they have on their shoulders, just seek to end the pain.

may he rest in peace...

I think I read the story isn't completed, the guy was a regular sporty player, I saw some pictures of him holding a long bet slip from old games he won on Facebook. I think what happened was the guy borrowed money from a friend about ₦1.5M to add to his money ₦1 and all together sum it to ₦2.5M and he used it to bet but unfortunately, the bet didn't go well as he lose the money to the betting company and out shame and how to pay back the money, he drank insect popularly called Otapiapia in Nigeria and passed away leaving a note behind but if he has been winning money as they claim, is this amount worth taking life? That's something I'm yet to figure out.

No matter what happened in this life, taking life isn't worth it. This is why I like how I see warning here about taking loan money to bet, gambling is based on luck and you never know when it will go fine or go left, we just assume and believe it will go well but anything that comes after is not something we can control, that's why we should never gamblw with money that is not our own and also gamble responsibly.

We would be too careless if we thought that gambling was just fun. Because it is clear that when someone is not prepared for the defeat they experience, this gambling turns into something very painful.

And starting from someone the OP told. So, this is where it is important to always pay attention to the number of bets we place to gamble, we need a limit of a certain amount according to our ability to lose that money. And when the money is lost when we are gambling, which means we lose, don't ever hope that the money will come back soon. We must always pay attention to all the money that flows through the gambling we do, so that we do not use money that has a clear purpose, it is used for gambling. Because you think that later the money will be replaced immediately through a big win that you get.

Apart from good money management, we also need to reorganize the gambling activities we do, so that our daily lives are not just filled with gambling while we leave behind what we are responsible for. As much as possible, we only gamble when we have free time, such as on holidays. Because the longer we gamble, it will only bring us closer to loss and gambling addiction itself.

This has happened very often in my country, I see some comments saying that nothing justifies the behavior of this person who killed themselves, but I think that people don't understand how serious it is and how life can be much harder than they imagine or think, when someone borrows money and takes that money and puts it in the game and then loses everything in the game and that person has nowhere else to get money to pay back the loan, so that person starts to think: "the guy he borrowed from or the bank in which he borrowed will report him when he fails to repay the loan and he will be arrested, tried and sentenced to many years in prison."

when he thinks about going to jail, he starts to think that he will suffer a lot in jail, he starts to think about all the days of suffering he will spend in jail, so at that time he only sees one solution to his big mistake: "he immediately think about killing himself "because when he dies all his debts will end and his family will not pay anything for the mistakes he made, it is difficult for a person to make the decision to commit suicide when that person still has other options to solve his problems. unfortunately in this world, when people have money they always surround you, but when you don't have money and are involved in serious problems, people immediately move away from you and there is a feeling of disappointment that you feel knowing that people were only with you because you had money and power and when you have nothing they abandon you

because of this type of behavior that many people have had of just staying by other people because they have money and when they realize that the person who has money no longer has money and they abandon him, the number of suicide cases that could be avoided If relatives and friends had helped, it would have increased a lot. people faced with a problem and who are abandoned, make radical decisions such as committing suicide, unfortunately
