I think this restriction does not solve the problem of shitposting, 1 Merit not enough. It only harms newcomers. I'm personally don't want to buy merit. Merit it's something that you need to earn. But in the situation what I see in local tread nobody want to share merit because in the black market it cost around 7-10$. I see now a lot of people who will just buy it from the high-rank sellers for their army of junior member. I personally saw a guy bought 60 merits for his farm in the telegram chat. So tell me is this new merit system solve the problem? I think no...
If we want to stop an army of Junior member bots, we need to add more restriction.
As I see the main problem is bounty campaign with encouraging people to make more post or bump ANN tread.

There a few solutions which I see:
1) Don't take Jr. Member in signature bounty only member+.
2) Too many messages with social reports and  "joined"? Encourage all bounty managers to use Google forms for weekly reports.

This forum definitely needs some rule to stop the army of bots and shitposting.   But in this war between forum admins and an army of bots there a  lot of victim from newcomers and usual people.

Because of the new merit system, the members from junior members will become newbie. They will have a hard time earning that merit for sure. I wish that the new system will only take effect for the newbie, not the former junior members.

actually this policy has benefits because it reduces the amount of spam in the bitcoin forum, but many people who receive the consequences of such actions, including me, I always post with applicable conditions and never out of topic, I always learn and find more info about bitcoin . so I ask you to give merit for my account. thank you

This is a good thing you do. I do not ask for merit, just want to say that it is good when high rank members think of how difficult it is now to get high ranks in this forum an take action.
That would be called imperialism, a form of centralization!
I think merit generosity is not about building an army for them. but you are for the people who deserve it. I'm glad you did it for the community

I wonder, buy a account with Member or higher rank is a good idea?
Just when account sales became under control...
@The Pharmacist as of the merit update, it seems you will be up for a lot more work. Good luck my friend.
The new merit system is a "newbies-racist system". Everyone look at me like a "merit hunter in covetousness"
That's all my opinion.
Newbies are not a race.

Do you:
- Believe in the core values of bitcoin in which this forum was founded upon?
- Facts should be taken into account when determining someones trust rating?
- Believe that there dictatorship is wrong and unfair on less powerful members of the forum?

You will most likely receive a merit if this is the case.

Enjoy!

First declare, I don't want your Merit, don't send it to me.

1. I certainly believe in the core values of the forum, which I think is decentralized, free, fair and equality.
2. The members I have seen as the Red Trust, have sufficient evidence to justify the negative trust.
3. Abuse of power is everywhere, but a reasonable system can put power into cages. I believe that even if it is a DT member, if the abuse of power occurs, it will be supervised by other members.

But you are marked because of the abuse of Merit, it seems that the evidence was sufficient.

Hi, I'm meriting all NON-NEGATIVE trust rated members. I will give you 1 merit if you give me a very good reason for me to give you one.

I currently have 69 spendable merits left. If you believe you have been wrong-done by the new merit rules and the higher powered individuals determining who is trustworthy and who is not via merit, post here.

You must provide a good reason why your account deserves to be ranked up. I will not rank up:
- shitposters
- scammers
- spammers
- anyone else who is widely believed to be legitimately untrustworthy

Okay, I will stand up not just for merit (not hypocrite I want to earn merit) but because I believe that I deserve to be rank as jr. member.
I'm not shitposter. Certainly not scammer. I'm not spammer. I'm trustworthy and have no plan to do anything stupid on this forum or in anywhere else...BUT I'm a bounty hunter and many think less of people like me and most thinking we're just shitting on BTT forum even though some of us trying to do good and contribute in our own way.

Do you:
- Believe in the core values of bitcoin in which this forum was founded upon?

Yes, I do. This forum is for people interested in bitcoin and want to learn;to speak freely and be able to hear from other people with same interest  about bitcoin and blockchain.

I agree. Every forum have spammer and shitposter, so why not just give them negative rating and when they reach the max negative rating they will be banned. Not just demolished and  demoted to newbie all those without merit.

Okay, I'm sorry I disagree with the word dictatorship but let's just say that this forum like blockchain and the idea behind bitcoin should be decentralized and egalitarian. All are fair and equal. Those with merit shouldn't be treated better it's like government official have more say than those private citizen or like financial institution monopolized economy.

I agree, I'm not good in conveying my thoughts and I only comment to those subject I know which those in higher ranks may not find interesting but hey I'm following rules and I think I deserve more than a newbie rank because I already earned the jr member rank.

2 merits. A lot of effort went into that post, merit deserved. I hope that you serve as a good member on the forum.

Hi, I'm meriting all NON-NEGATIVE trust rated members....

So you are saying I have no right to get merits (I have two red trust FYI) on my posts even if I create good posts? May be you are right or...?

I and other few members always consider merit should not have anything to do with trust by the way. Merit should be awarded to posts which worth receiving merit.
You're an anomaly. Good to see you embracing it.

None of newbies business, right?
First, I like the old rank system. Maybe I'll never reach Legendary rank, it's so hard today, but I can join a signature campaign.
"Why a signature campaign?" "You greed" "Explore the forum first, kid" blah blah - Sounds like I'm a dirty rat.
Then, practice in signature campaign, I read more, think more for every post, because "unmeaning, spam-post will not allowed", or face moderators by shitposts.
I've read a hundreds post per week, and try to reply them by my knowledge, in foreign language, that's my way to explore this forum and crypto. That's wrong way? Or I'll read a tons of post in silence like a ninja?
Back to main problem, while I learning about "how to be a legendary", someone takes off my chance to do anything. Now, every post from me will be accused of earn merit.
And yes,
- Believe that there dictatorship is wrong and unfair on less powerful members of the forum?
I wonder, buy a account with Member or higher rank is a good idea?

i think you do not need to do that, if the people want merit they need improve yourself, stop spaming, have knowledege about Crypto, get good or quality posts to construct the forum better .
they can talk a good thing abount them to get merit, and then who know what will happen , or they still spam to do signature campain in some bounty campain of ICOs.

About your question, in my opion the forum was founded as a place for people to discuss about bitcoin, altcoin and something about crypto. All people have trust about bitcoin and the future of them.

if the Facts will take into account of bitcointalk, this is a great idea.

i think admintrators want to construct the forum better, and each admin will have a different management.

I was negative trusted for awarding contributing members to my thread.

I am a newbie. Sorry for disturbing you guys. But I want a merit to be able to do my job.
(Believe that there dictatorship is wrong and unfair on less powerful members of the forum? )
I think in any forum this may have happened but in the case :
There are 2 cases :
1. Dictatorship if too strict, will result in the underpowered members being strictly controlled and will object to it being too tightly bound.
2.If the dictatorship is not tight, it will lead to low status of the members and will do things that are not beneficial to the community. (spam)

This is just the opinion of a newbie like me. Thank you

deeming people untrustworthy with quite literally no factual evidence other than some account links is absurdity.
No, it doesn't have anything to do with trust.  It has to do with the privilege of being able to use signature space for advertising, which has been woefully abused--especially by Jr. Members.  I don't know what sections of the forum you frequent, but take a look at Bitcoin/Altcoin Discussion and you'll see that it's unreadable because of all the signature spammers there.  There's an epidemic of people being referred to bitcointalk as a place of employment, and thus a lot of noobs generally have nothing to add.  They just crank out generic posts, and many of those are even plagiarized.

If you help noobs to rank up to Jr. Member and they really don't deserve it, you're not helping things here.  It's not that they're untrustworthy, it's that they're incentivized to crank out garbage.

You're free to do with your sMerits as you see fit.  I'm just advising you not to make things worse here out of some sense of perceived injustice.  This isn't a conspiracy.  It's a real problem.
I was negative trusted for awarding contributing members to my thread. These members turned out to be spammers, I was unaware...as a project owner, I don't really give a damn about who posts in my thread, I care about what they post. This now deems me untrustworthy in the eyes of those who have the power to deem me untrustworthy.

Fair? Definitely not.
Decentralized? Hardly!
Is it responsibility to moderate this forum as a project owner? Definitely not.

It takes two to tango.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not. I hope you are. This is no more than a scrapbook of links put together in the obvious attempt to get merit and does not share any of the values I specified in the OP.
