Id have to agree that those few with massive amounts of coin stored don't really want it to be known, or at least I wouldn't think so.

Yeah hence would need to be pseudonymous.

Nice idea:). However, I would not make it so that people paste how much they have, because some are going to lie, so you'll need to find a way to check. Also,  I'm pretty sure that putting your BTC address in the actual post is spam, keep it in the signature.

Thanks. I was thinking it would be like a online blockchain parser like blockchain.info, that way nobody could lie. Heck, the guys operating blockchain.info could easily implement it if they wanted to.

Sorry about the BTC address spam, I have now removed it, I didn't realize at first since I made the post before I had a signature Tongue

I thought about that too, then I realized he might have meant HE gets 1% of the profit.

Yeah that's what I meant, I would be content with 1% of the profits from my own idea if it was a billion dollar idea, anyway I think someone is allready working on a very similar idea, but it will be awhile till it launches I think.

I doubt any programmer works on a great idea for 1% of the profit. Usually, the value of an idea is overrated; there is a lot involved to make it work. In my opinion, maybe a good idea is worth 20% of the profit.

It's a fun concept but I do agree that people wouldn't want to make themselves known.

Presumably, people would need to make a small wallet payment to prove they are the owner of said wallet in order to associate ownership.

Oh, and vaguely related to the global rich list idea >  This is a pretty neat site: http://www.globalrichlist.com/

Something like this that compared your personal wallet holdings with the rest of the active wallets would be pretty cool.

A Bitcoin rich list would be great PR (perhaps we could get The Times to sponsor it).  However, are people really going to want to associate themselves publicly with BTC given the dubious nature of laws/regulation surrounding BTC at the moment?

Perhaps, with an anonymous way of associating yourself with wallets via a pseudonym of sorts (certainly possible) this idea could be fun, but again, nothing to stop me saying "I'm Bill Gates and I own this wallet"

Ergo, no way of proving claims one way or another.

The bitcoin richest could be a great fun, but it can be inaccurate. Many people uses multiple addresses/wallet to store their bitcoins (for anonymous or safety). So to compare an address against another address will just give you the ranking of how "rich" an address is.

Bitcoin Paranoid is a free Android app that tracks prices and has configurable alarms for fluctuations.

Since the price of BTC fluctuates greatly within a day, won't it be disturbing to receive sms notification every time the prices cross a certain level

If the spirit of Satoshi was not to let new ideas flourish, then what was it? Tongue
I wish I had the time and skills to work on my own ideas. I used to code back in college, but that's a long time ago, and skills are forgotten.

At least bitleif like my idea, thanks bitleif. Smiley
I just hope someone will take notice and exploit my ideas, I bet there is money to be made.

Like the first idea. Should be cheap to set up if you're able to do the coding yourself. Worth a shot, go for it Smiley

Hi, didn't get any response to my ideas after waiting for days, so gonna try a bump and hope for the best.

Also got a new billion dollar idea for those skilled programmers out there, but not giving that idea to just anyone. PM if you are such a programmer and I'll let you know the idea for a 1% commission of all future profits from that idea if you decide to go for it.

Hardly the spirit of Satoshi!

A poor idea, worked upon > a great idea left to die.
