Does this mean that everyone who has participated in an airdrop will get temp or perma ban? Or airdrops or allowed in specific board? I am always confused with that discussion.

Quoting the answer mprep gave regarding the temp ban of users we've just talked about....

I usually ban users who participate in on-forum altcoin giveaways for 14 days. Considering that the thread was wrongfully posted in Games and Rounds (which doesn't change the fact that it's still against the rules), I can understand the ignorance of the rules related to the altcoin section but I cannot excuse it - hence a reduced ban duration for all participants. Unless there are circumstances I'm not aware of that would make this behavior not against (the spirit of) the rules, I do not intend to change my decision.

Hope that helps you

It's a locked thread, so I had to randomly choose a date on the quote

From what i can understand, if the giveaway is posted in the wrong board, participants will be banned?
You know what? This is horrible.
I can guess almost all users joined airdrops for free altcoins at least when as bigenners.

It's definately not that; participants of any ALTCOIN giveaway are to be banned; regardless of the board the thread is posted in. A little bit of research can save you a lot of trouble
Thank you csmiami for clearing this up. In fact, i read many replies from many threads regarding what recently happened. And as it's first time to highlight the rule with this kind of giveaways, the discussion is still opened as khaled proved above.

As my account has been temp-banned because of participating in a giveaway thread, I became a little bit too sensitive to this subject. I read the rules multiple times and I can say this topic doesn't violate them.

The member who created the topic didn't ask participants to reply to his thread. He is conducting the giveaway off-site.

Affirmative that is a giveaway thread, and any bounties with one time tasks like follow twitter or just join telegram those easy tasks are also considered as giveaway if those are posted on bounty thread be careful with that and don't ever join or report that thread. Giveaway is not allowed on bounty board. If it happens that you already join it is better to delete your application or else you will be banned.

--snip--
These users where banned because the airdrop was originally posted on the Bitcoin boards, and then moved to the Altcoin section, where users got banned because it was an altcoin airdrop. Nevertheless, most of those users got their bans lifted because of the confusion it generated.

It wasn't the only story till there.
It was initially a Bitcoin airdrop which is why it was in Games and Rounds section and they were incentivizing just to post in their thread (which meant that they wanted to remain on top by getting too many bumps due to users posting their usernames), but later they started doing altcoin giveaways in that area which was not allowed, as well as, even after moving it, asking for your username alone and giving no tasks to you increases the risk of getting the thread moved to trash and your" account getting banned.

* = Here, your was meant for everyone, including the participants.

I think airdrops are allowed:
For BTC alone in games and rounds, and that too if certain tasks are needed to get that airdrop.

this is a public forum

For starters, this is NOT a public forum. It is a forum, owned y someone, where you have to register and agree to follow some rules in order to use it.

Airdrops are not allowed on the Altcoin boards; this does not look like a "pure" airdrop, because not everyone is getting the shitcoin, but it could be considered as one....

But i recently remember a wave of temp bans happened with about 40 users who applied in a giveaway. Most of them are experienced reputable users. From what i can remember, the reason was that giveaways are only accepted if it's a bitcoin giveaway.

OP, in the fututre, when in doubt, click the report to moderator button and explain everything in the comments you can leave  Wink

Unfortunately, one of them was me too. It felt harsh at first but I never knew that I was breaking a forum rule until I saw that it was posted in the wrong section, huh my bad! Though, thanks to theymos for removing those bans and giving us a chance to post here again. I believe that if you are given any task rather than just asking your username and picking up random winners out of that only, then such threads and their owners are likely to be banned. So, it's better to stay away from such threads and never post there.

The rule written by administrator theymos says

"Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread."

Wemix did not ask the people who will join the giveaway to post in their thread.

I'm trying to explain how I understand the rule and if it applies to the giveaway thread but I can't be certain here,

this is a public forum and everyone is entitled to drop post depending on the section where it fits. personally, i can not trust any giveaway here. it is a 50-50 opportunity. it is either it pays or not.it is about choice. you either try and see if it pays or not. it is just the same as the others.
with the rate of scams been posted here. it is suspicious that it will pay or not.

1. Is this a giveaway thread?
2. What is the difference between a giveaway thread and an airdrop?
1. It is a giveaway but it is offsite because it does not encourage participants to post in the thread so it's not against the forum rules
2. There is no much difference. If you have noticed, Airdrops are just announced here, but they are done offsite and  don't encourage participants to post in the respective threads.

As far as I know. Only those giveaway thread that incentivize the participants to "visit our thread" and "post in our thread" are not allowed and will lead to being ban.

1. Yes.
2. They are very much similar. Giveaway should've been given away without any hard task while in airdrop, you have to carry out a task (not those two I mentioned above).

I'm not the one to talk about forum rules but I don't think the Wemix team violated the forum altcoin giveaway rule.

Here are the instructions in the link you gave
1. Join WEMIX Telegram Channel & Group
2. WEMIX Wallet Sign up
3. Write #WEMIX #JOINED WEMIX wallet ID in Telegram Group

The rule written by administrator theymos says

"Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. Wemix did not ask the people who will join the giveaway to post in their thread.

I'm trying to explain how I understand the rule and if it applies to the giveaway thread but I can't be certain here,

I know that giveaway threads are not allowed in alternate cryptocurrencies section.

Giveaway threads are not allowed

But I found a thread in alternate cryptocurrencies which offer $8,000 USDT GIVEAWAYS.

🌟[WEMIX] $8,000 USDT GIVEAWAYS FOR 200 RANDOM WINNERS🌟

1. Is this a giveaway thread?
2. What is the difference between a giveaway thread and an airdrop?
