I don't think I have seen any gambling platforms that's a scam, but I believe that the reason why we mainly think that some of the gambling platforms we use are scam is because of their rules, term and conditions, and most times I think KYC verifications.
Sometimes, gamblers don't read rules on the gambling platforms they use, and if they win they fine it very difficult to withdraw their money because they don't have the KYC requirements to very verify their account.

It's amazing how many gambling sites out there are scams, and how many of them at one point seem to be legitamate, but and up turning in to scams.

I have to admit that one of the sites I still use is Bovada, which I guess has ties to Calvin Ayres (maybe Craig Wright too?) but they use to be called "Bodog" and heard that it was a scam. I need to look further in to this, but curious if anyone else has?

The point OP is actually trying to make when comes to gambling and the risk which comes to the trust on casinos on the internet does not have anything to do with that you say. It is true, there are casino which are big, reliable, are fully licenses and one can trust with money, because they would not ruin their profitable business just to steal a bunch of dollars and ruin their reputation online.
The victims of this small or shady casinos are both yound and elder people who live in countries where the biggest casinos cannot operate, because of restrictions, so they pretend to be there to fill the hole of the market when in reality they have ulterior motives.

However, the point of him still stands, for every reliable and transparent casino one can bet and gamble in, there must be hundreds of thousands of casinos which are supposed to be avoided and never to deposit on.
As a rule of thumb, one is never to fully trust any entity on the internet who deals with other money, specially if one is using it for the first time.

I agree. We can give them a try but don't deposit the amount that we cannot afford to lose. I can only say that checking if casino is legitimate or not isnt a 100% solution, as licenses does not cost a fortune. Plus casinos can post fake or stolen info. Avoiding new casinos I consider also a 50/50 solution. You never know what you going to face, a scam casino or a new project by large investors with enticing bonuses. I fact, a lot of people determine scam casinos incorrectly. If they are asked for KYC = casino is scam. They have lost = casino is a scam. They violated rules and got punished = casino is a scam.

A scam tends to involve deception and malicious act. While there definitely will be actual scam "casinos" out there, which take your money without even giving you the ability to win or withdraw anything back, they don't last long or affect many people if you do the most basic of research on sites before you deposit. The reality is, casinos don't need to scam anyone - they are money generating machines for the owners who are completely honest about the odds involved. Sorry but I disagree with you, finding a good, reputable and well trusted gambling site is easy, even in the midst of several site that are not genuine, it's still easy to find sites that are trusted, how? It's simple, for gamblers that are familiar with this forum, or any other genuine forums where gambling is discussed out there, such forums are the best place to look out for good gambling site, using google or YouTube while in search of a good gambling site can be misleading at time or most of the time since most of this criminal sites engage in buying reviews and ratings, it make it hard to tell or diffrenciate a genuine review and rating from a fake one.

Well, I think while most individuals are gambling online instead of going to the casino is basically because technology has made it easier for most people to sit at home and carry our gambling activities instead of going there. You should consider cost of transportation, crowd, people with walking disabilities and other stuffs too. Why would someone living in a far distance pay their to the casino when they could create an account with an online casino and still carry out gambling activities.?
