It's true that the lack of phisycal money  is something different from fiat and difficult to assimilate for normal people, but I think bitcoin has a bunch of advantages over fiat

Well, one thing we got to understand is that bitcoin is just another form of money. A lot of the times that's not our first knowledge of bitcoin when we use it, but it's simply a more easier and digital money. I understand what you mean when you say you can't "smell" bitcoin, because not many consume or use it. It's just a matter of time before bitocoin goes bigger into the society where people are going to encounter bitcoin and have it just like a regular currency.

You can also print some paper wallets and smell on them Wink With the right printer you could also print them on the same paper as USD Cheesy
A paper wallet somewhat replaces the smell of cash.
Our cash is all plastice here anyway so not heaps of difference in our cash to a laminated paper wallet.

Exactly my thought, you can make paper wallets to look similar to money by design also, if you are such a fiat fan.
Claiming that this is a major flaw is dumb at the least.

cheers

Yea but bitcoin is not tangible, you can draw a 5 bitcoin note but that would not be bitcoin, just a simple drawing.

A lot of bank notes have traces of cocaine, what do you say to that? Grin
Quick ban this dirty fiat, people use it rolled up to snort cocaine, people buy drugs with dirty fiat (I'm being saracastic but this is similar idiocy to the type that people use to disgrace & be negative about bitcoin).
this is actually a major flaw for cocaine users. These people require a currency that also works as paraphernalia for their drug use. Someone needs to modify the Trezor.
That's great, i had never thought about the poor cocaine user, maybe my Mycelium entropy will become a collectors Item amongst cocaine users,   Cheesy

Money has a very distinctive smell.  A really good smell.  "The smell of money" - even sounds cool.

Bitcoin doesn't smell like anything.  Totally sterile.  That sucks.  This is what I see as the major flaw of Bitcoin.
You call this is a major flaw of bitcoin?
Sure bitcoin is not perfect, but this is not a matter. We should focus other thins.

The number of people that have taken your statement seriously in this thread is surprising.
You sir, are a funny bastard!
lol.  I am totally stunned at the level of stupidity in the Bitcoin community.  For this reason alone, I am slightly skeptical as to whether or not it will ultimately survive.  Bitcointalk is unbelievable in the sheer percentage of total garbage posted by morons.  lol.  But I am glad you enjoyed it.

Really, that's odd, because everytime I smell a PCB about to burn out or an overheated video card I think of Bitcoin.

yeah this. the acrid metallic twinge I whiffed right before my BFL 60Ghs miner gave up the ghost... combusting circuitry and burning dust. Like napalm in the morning.

fiat just smells like sweaty hands and desperation... unless you are sniffing a Canadian 100$ bill.. smells like maple syrup.

Hmm.. my bank account balance and statements don't smell either.

Neither does my credit card (well a little like plastic but not much.)

Those seem to survive

But you forget, bitcoin also lacks stripper juice, booger, pizza stains, and any number of other nasty things that can typically be found on your favorite fiat.  I guess there is a trade off to be considered.

To be fair, money smells like dirty clothes, so I'm glad Bitcoin is odorless.

It smells fishy for me... most likely because most of it, are being stuffed down strippers panties in Strip clubs.  Wink

I know when Ebola was a hot topic, some people switched to paying for everything with credit and debit cards. {They were too scared to handle fiat cash}

When I visit the African countries, it's quite common to see, African women hiding their money in their bra.

It's the dirtiest payment method on earth.  Shocked

Get a 1oz silver bitcoin made and it would smell like silver. Ofcourse bitcoin won't show you any promises. I mean just enjoy the flow of the bitcoin current. Ride on its high tide prices and drown on its down lows. I don't know for sure if bitcoin would still be a hit in the next 10-15 years or so but for now, let's just enjoy it.
