I am not much into gambling, but someone asked me to do some research on a blockchain-based lottery project and I would like to get some advice.
Experiencing the existing lottery site would be easier for you to answer your question or gather information about your research.

I played them all already. And I have a lot of questions about how they work and operate.

Seems like freebitco.in lottery works on ZKP principle. But I still have to figure out if so called "client seed" is sent to server before getting SHA256 of "server seed".
If any of y'all did or know of some research done on this lottery that would be fantastic.

Blockchain based lottery? Isn't it similar to the other existing projects cryptocurrency online gambling site similar to freebitco.in and the newest signature campaign above my reply which is Crypto Lotto?

Blockchain simply means that they are operating their gambling services using cryptocurrency is it not?

That is the only one which pops out of my mind when I hear about crypto lottery.
Freebitco.in.
I have tried it before while doing faucets.

It is actually difficult to make the project work.
That means a lot of gamblers on the gambling site to accumulate a larger pot for the prize money.
Which is also why we don't see many online lottery games.
This is expected since freebitco in is an existing crypto lottery site since it is one of the oldest crypto lottery out there.

Also, why not try other or new crypto lotto sites like in my signature, New sites do have promotions to attract customer.

I am not much into gambling, but someone asked me to do some research on a blockchain-based lottery project and I would like to get some advice.

What kind of advice do you want to get? Because it is like the same if you want to play gambling on the casino but the difference which is supported with the blockchain is the.

  • Fast transfer
  • Transparency
  • Secured
  • Flexible

This is bass on my experience in terms of using the blockchain and also they have a lot of more games which you can enjoy free and earn more profit as much as you want.

This has been discussed several times now and although there are some websites which implement it this has showed no real success.Companies or casinos offering this has not the same level of budget of casinos that have paid multimillion dollars jackpots already.

Also since this is for research purposes I think it will have no success because gamblers like more other kind of games rather than lotteries.

The suggestion for you will be maybe you can lower the bet because if you use $10 for one bet, that will be too big for people.

Good point, thank you.
But let me do the math.
Lets say out of each bet $10 we distribute:
1. Jackpot winner - at least 50% or more.
2. Secondary winners - 20% or more.
3. Network, (mining fees, gas price) - 10%.
4. What is left goes to organizers.

So not much left.
If one bet is equal $10, I think that will only give a chance to people who have a lot of money because as a small gambler, I don't have any choice to place that bet. Did you already try freebitco.in and buy the ticket for playing the lottery? In that site, you only need to use 1 satoshi to buy 1 ticket so that you can buy a lot of ticket with $10 Grin

But nevermind, you can still use $10, I only suggest to you  Grin

Btw, I am not good in math.

If we calculate, if 100 players buy the ticket for $10, there will be $1,000. Let say the first winner gets $500, and the second winner gets $250, the network fee is about $50. So the organizers will have $200. That is not small money for 1 round Grin

Hi everyone,

I know you have a lot of projects popping out here every day.

Sorry but what is the connection about the Lottery in topic and massive daily jackpot?lol jackpot cannot be even win in a year sometimes so there is no such thing like that mate sorry to say that.

and why only lottery?don't you wanna try poker and dice game?

Maybe he sees a few gambling websites which have the lottery gambling games in their site, so he decides to create the lottery games, but with a different idea.

There are definitely crypto based gambling tokens and blockchains centered around that. BTC owes alot of its success and history to gambling usage and traffic that helped raised its monetary velocity and still does I think.    Depends how strictly you mean lottery or just general gambling usage, Im not sure why'd it matter between the two.    To some extent involvement in crypto is a gamble anyhow, it can go down or up so not sure I want to raise too much risk on top of that.    To build a customer base takes time and trust and its not easy to do,  Freebitco has  been around years but I'd theres more then one site that'll be relevant.

I spoken to several hardcore players already. So every time they say "there is a lot of other blockchain lotteries".
There is a lot of project that claim blockchain lottery or blockchain gambling, but they are not, in fact, because they merely accept bets in crypto and this where their "blockchain" ends.
And I've seen good portion of such projects. Very few really do something on blockchain, meaning with smart contract or something similar. It is almost impossible to do Bitcoin-based lottery simply because Bitcoin scripting is very limited and you can't just do anything about it.
Ethereum, on the other hand, is very promising. One can actually program in smart contract accepting bets (ie token transfers), do the round/draw calculations including strong random, and do the payout of prizes.
It would be a pure distributed lottery on a blockchain.

Seen this common blockchain based lottery which had been done on ETH platform and yes smart contracts are indeed great into this field but still it do lacks out interest for people and
rather stick out to those Bitcoin-lottery instead.Dont know on why but people arent really that fan on other platforms.

Counting of the volume on how many people are interested generally with Lotteries then it isnt really that much thats why only a few or close to none doesnt really
plan on launching out their own lottery site due to lack of interest.

I understand that, but IMHO it worth a try.
In fact, I think it can be a major driver for global acceptance of cryptocurrency.
So whole community would benefit from it.

Because I have never won a lottery, so I am less interested in lottery projects. I think anyone who has luck can win the lottery,
it seems that luck has not on my side so i has never won the lottery. What I still remember a blockchain based lottery projects is
freebitco.in, it's a lottery place with quite a lot of users. So you can get what you need by trying to play lottery on freebitco.in.
There you can learn all of it.

most lottery projects here dont prosper because they cant sustain its presence. very hard to get loyal players for this game. players may try once or twice, but they will stop.  and im guessing the op is just checking the sentiments of the users here regarding crypto lotto sites because they have plans to put up one.

Same could be said for almost any crypto project. They forget that they depend on users so it needs to attract crypto people, not just with a massive prize but also with good promotions and great customer support. Something sadly lacking in many lottery projects.
Those gambling sites are just lack on promotions and having a not so good gambling site since gamblers will not leave if they really enjoyed the game and since the Lotto game is not that an active game, maybe this is also the reason why gamblers are not staying.

Base on my basic research, most of the lottery doesn't succeed in long term and I don't see that much lottery game as of posting, you can see it on unfamiliar gambling site and maybe you can check it out at your own risk.

Thats completely different point. The idea was exactly to make:
1. Provable and verifiable unbiased algorithm the does pure random winner selection.
2. Provable and verifiable payout mechanism.

So having that implemented, I wonder what would be the customer acquisition costs? Does it require licensing if whole logic is placed within a smart contract.

It probably won't last long. If, just if, you manage to successfully implement your idea, most would probably participate because of its innovativeness, but other than that, I doubt they'd actually last for you to actually make a profit. Other than that, others have already managed to try it, so the question is, how would you actually attract customers? It's not a matter of your system actually working and being fair since that's a given before you even start, but rather about how you would actually make your customers stay.

You should probably concentrate on actually making your lottery unique compared to others. Only then would it have any attractive value for players to actually play on. That is, on the grounds of your lottery being transparent on how it's winners are chosen as well as its fairness.

Hi everyone,

I know you have a lot of projects popping out here every day.
I am not much into gambling, but someone asked me to do some research on a blockchain-based lottery project and I would like to get some advice.

Ethex.bet
Their ANN thread - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ethex-whats-the-next-ether-block-hash-guess-and-get-paid-5120151

You can search up also here: https://dappradar.com/

If you are tending to play with Bitcoin stuff then Freebitco.in will also be on the list(this is not blockchain-based) but it do fits out
when it comes to massive prize.
