With the blocksize drama escalating we clearly see people flee to alternatives that offer a solution.

The current dip has nothing to do with the blocksize drama.

It has to do with impatient people who bought at 360 a few weeks ago hoping to sell at 420 but it didn't hit 420 and it is the end of the month and they have to pay bills so they have to sell now.

Exactly not so much a bad deal, there's not enough reason for the price to continue to climb with more altcoins out there with more features and can easily double the price but can also lose half of it. Altcoins can double its price in a day while bitcoin can't for now.

altcoins can halve their price in an hour too. It's happened to me, I no longer want anything to do with them until I find one that is really compelling. And to be really compelling, it can't just appeal to geeks, it has to have appeal for the masses that aren't geeks. None of them do, so all of them currently are really just an alternate form of gambling.

Basically its people panicking about the ragequit still......

Im gonna guess it motivates a few whales from the early days to sell some of their stash. Thats why we had a big crash in last week or so

However just give it time. In time more people will be buying thanks to the fed. Gold is also going up now so its not just BTC. The holders of bitcoin are rock solid now and will not sell. And there is enough support to keep the miners from selling.

Just be patient. We will hit 500 again soon. I cant see it going down more from here.

Kwuckduck is the Proudhon of his time. Thanks to Proudhon I sold hundreds of Bitcoins at the all time low from december 2011 to....well mid 2012. A lot of similarities: Even if Proudhon was onto something I wish I hadn't listen to him even a single bit.

People in general have a tendency to flee to other places, not to work things out. That is something that is quite frequent to see in other areas, and this is not different. But Bitcoin will survive.

I wonder if we will be able to maintain bitcoin as the number one crypto currency for much longer. Things are changing quickly and the downward spiral is going down faster and faster.
People seem more scared than ever before.

I feel sad that everyone is so scared and dumping. You're not helping the cause of what bitcoin aims to be.

Is this what we wanted? I think not. Let's change our mindset. Let's make this work instead of fleeing scared.

To tell the right I don't feel this fear for the moment. Even the reason that this situation exist or be created is concrete. For sure the division of the core developers and the creation of two kind of bitcoins will create confusion and maybe even fight between followers of every group or variant of bitcoin. For me is totally incomprehensible to be such big conflict only for 1MB difference on the size of the block. Anyhow, not being a developer maybe cannot be able to understand the importance of this 1 MB and being in wrong. But I know for sure something. This division for sure will harm bitcoin. And the situation mentioned by OP if don't exist already will be created for sure in the near future. And all our hope about the big future of this unique invention will be destroyed like one sandcastle.

Bitcoin is a free market, people can buy and sell at any time they want. It doesn't matter if it is panic selling because they shit their pants, or because they are securing their profits. It's all up to them. It keeps the market moving and allows other people to scoop up their coins. Smiley

It happens all time, a few will be there to give people some frustrating statements that makes users get panic. Even when users don't give shit to these statements nothing would happen, even two days back one core developer of bitcoin left but it was not made big, so none considered that for price staggering else some might have got panic it is on death path.

I don't recall ever seeing a finer Kwukduck post. Sometimes I fall into the trap of thinking that Kwukduck is serious, then a gem like this post comes along and all is well with the world. Genius - pure, unadulterated comedy genius.

not a planic selling again, this is a trap for fish like you that sold at 10, when they see a small dump on the market

keep feeding the whale that are playing only for accumulating and not for exiting the bitcoin game

If this goes on we'll be on a crisis, perhaps we'll even see new record lows.

a crisis is also a very good opportunity to buy and a new cycle will begin again..

i agree that there is a new wave of panic selling and most probably it is as the result of the block size but "downward spiral" nah, no way it is going to pass unless this block size drama gets worse which i don't see happening.

these weak hands are going to end and the upward motion is going to start again soon.

I never see this day would come (to see one of your post actually make sense  Wink ). Now to the topic itself, yes Your right and we have "Mike Hearn" to blame for this I guess since it all started after what he said about BTCitcoins and as result many got scared and jumped ship (at least for now).

You're right that some people are scared, it's what's causing the price to slowly decrease. Although, with Bitcoin, there's no reason to be scared - the price always goes back up.

I am glad to see people like you, kwukduck, turn positive for a change. Usually you're very negative in your postings saying "Bitcoin will crash" when, in reality, it is very strong and never actually does. It is those very topics that you post which ensue the very fear we are trying to avoid.

The Bitcoin reward halving is coming up and obviously that will cause nerves in the market. Nevertheless, people will soon understand that this halving will benefit Bitcoin in so many ways and increase the price to new highs and while doing so ending this constant turbulence.

Keep up the positivity  Cool
