Thanks a lot for your thread. As I was reading the thread I got to know that I faced the scams you mentioned in the thread. Also is there any way to stop them from messaging us in telegram? If would be very thankful if you could give me some advice in that area.

You can block others from adding you to groups by changing your privacy settings. Whenever someone PMs you, just check to see which of the groups you have in common before responding to them.

The only way to properly identify those fake admins when the pm you on telegram is to check their username cos their username is quite different in spelling from the real admins. Remember admins don't pm first unless you did

Its simple-if "admin" PM you first, that is not an admin, simple as that.If anyone follows that rule, it won get scammed. But you can also always ask in main group, in case you have any doubts.

True. Some people fall for scammers substituting the letter l with I. Another method that can be done is to verify it on the main channel. Legit admins are usually quick to verify.

Don't forget to report those accounts as well as soon as you verified they are scams.

...this is one of the biggest reason telegram is not a good social platform

Every social platform is filled with scammers, that does not make one or the other bad.
Telegram has a good user protection policy, and has privacy specification to suit you.
Social platforms are made to connect people, and there are tons of scammers out there who would like to contact you.
Protect yourself, avoid financial offers from people you do not know, for doing close to nothing. It's highly unlikely someone in the other half of the globe would need your help to withdraw some bitcoins from a website.
Also avoid phishing links.

Good initiative to help newbies, nakamura12!

By the way, I thought your thread title is too general. It catches attention, but still to general. I think you can make it better by adding some keywords, such as phising, scam
There is a guide from admin: Topic title style guide
I suggested those key words because I found them in the OP.
Wordcount results:
- scam/ scammers: 20 times
- phising: I saw this word but wordcount does not work with it.

A suggested new title: A reminder to avoid phising/ scammers for newbies!

What to do to avoid phising sites

These scams aren't limited to PMs. Sometimes channels and group chats on telegram can have phishing links on them too.

Do you have any idea where these people got yoru telegram username from (that might be more interesting to warn people with)?
It would be great to know how they got my telegram username but I have a feeling that I know where they got my telegram username because I also join some telegram groups until to this day and I don't really care if someone got my telegram username or me receiving private messages from someone else that I don't even know except to those people whom I only trust.
Because we are joining different telegram groups and mostly they are from the airdrop group and other active groups.

I have also encountered the same as your problem a month ago, someone PM'ed me that he needed help because he can't withdraw his fund on the exchange due to his location and restricted with an exchange that he said and he wants me to make an account. First, I just ask my self if the link was given has infected with a possible malware virus. Instead, don't fool with them, because nowadays scammers are everywhere. You can see this photo how I troll back the account attempting to scam me.

To avoid automatic download phishing links from your telegram account you can customize the settings and click "advanced" and off autodownload files.

My suggestion is also to hide your phone number in Telegram to everyone except for people in your friend list.
Scammers use that info also, and in latest Telegram version, number is revealed by default.
I am also aware that you can hide your phone number in telegram and changing also to "my contacts" where only those people who have your number saved in their contacts will be able to see your phone number but scammers cannot.

As you can see, the thread name is a reminder to everyone especially newbies and to those who really didn't know about these traps/tactics using telegram and other social media that they can use to make it happen by sending random people (especially newbies or inexperience people or less knowledge about this kind of trap) a message to trap the person that they have sent the message. Most of the tactics start from telegram private messages, it may also start from other platforms that are commonly used by most people like Facebook and other social media platforms. Although, there are some tactics they have used but the tactics they have used are too obvious to believe that it's true but still we need to be vigilant from possible scammers. Below are the list of traps/tactics that a scammer will do to their victims whether if it's you or any person that will become victims from these tactics.

1.) https://medium.com/@TheGoldenOrder/stay-alert-for-this-new-type-of-scammers-in-telegram-6b970e240e8d
This kind of tactic is to make you believe that someone needs your help but the truth is, that the person who needs help have intention on taking your bitcoin.

2.)Telegram Scams thread created by: dasunlanka
This tactic is where the scammer is pretending to be someone else like an ICO founder, exchange site owner, fake admins, fake moderators and other person that they can impersonate.

3.) [Warning]: Another Electrum Phishing site on the loose and ⚠⚠️⚠~Beware on active phishing Electrum websites~⚠⚠️⚠
This tactic is where the scammer created a website the same as the original website or almost the same as the original website where your account information such as your username, email address, password, wallet address and also your private key will be seen or the scammer will be able to know your account credentials and will be able to steal your btc or eth if you have some stored in your wallet. This tactic is called Phishing Link or Phishing Site.

There are more tactics/traps that the scammers will do just to steal your money or your crypto. Here are the thread links about these scam tactis.

When someone you sent you a pm and you really didn't even know the person who sent you a private message (PM) on your telegram the same as the image below and the best thing to do is to block the telegram user or delete the message then leave it (don't entertain the telegram user at all). I really don't even know who they are and both of them sent me a message asking me a question. I did answer the question that this person is asking and I answered "NO" instead of answering yes. I answered NO is because I am thinking and also have questions in my mind like "what if that this person is a scammer and this person sent me a private message in telegram just to scam me and get my bitcoin?" so, that is why I didn't answer yes instead I answered NO. Later on, this person didn't send more messages again and few days later the account is now deleted as shown in the image below.

I also received a private message a few weeks ago (July 20, 2019) from someone I don't even know at all but what I did is I never reply to this pm sender. It's on you to decide whether to do nothing, delete the message or you can block this user by going to the message then tap/press the telegram users picture or profile then press the three dots on the upper right side of the screen then select "Block User" and done. See the message that this person sent. I cover the telegram user's name as I don't have proof to prove that this sender is a scammer so I had it covered up. See image below:
.

It is better to have information about these tactics scamming btc from people, so we will know what it is then we can avoid it and stay safe. With the help of other threads on spotting scam sites and more then this thread will also let us know the tactics that they will use to scam people and I know there are more ways that they can use to scam like Clipboard Hijacking and Ponzi/Pyramid scheme.

Take Note: The purpose of this thread I started is to remind us all not to fall in these kind of traps/tactics and my goal in this thread is to help. It depends on you on how you think of this thread. If you know some scam tactics, please do not hesitate to share it here, so that everyone (that includes me) will know about it. Let's make this thread into one thread that has a list of thread links about scam tactics that the scammer can use to scam. Thank You, I hope that this thread could help us.
