When I tell people that Mexico is one of the next Bitcoin legalizers, then people start scoffing and rolling their eyes at me. But here we are, with definite proof that Mexico is headed towards a Bitcoin filled future. And the more people in Mexico adopt Bitcoin and start spreading the word about Bitcoin, the sooner that bright future will arrive. 100k is now a bearish estimate for 2022.

Lets go Bitcoin! Grin

It seems that Elektra is not going to be the only shopping center to accept bitcoin in Mexico: Gicsa Group has announced an Alliance with Bitso to extend the possibility of the locals to make payments with bitcoin, using Bitso Transfer.

They’re starting small, applying from tomorrow onwards to the Go Karts tracks of four shopping centers within the country, but plan on expanding the payment method to other businesses within these centers, and the scope of stores.

I’m still not sure if this is going to require the customers to make mandatory use of Bitso Transfer for BTC payments (I figure so, but still I’m not 100% certain), and it would be a shame if it payments with BTC were to be delimited in this manner. I guess we’ll see more on the matter in days to come ...

what is very good news for the survival of bitcoin if one of the supermarkets in Mexico processes transactions using bitcoin, we really hope this process is not too short and can be run for a long time so as to make bitcoin grow again and can reach the peak of its popularity as it used to be in the previous few years, this intimacy bitcoin really needed such things as for example several adoptions and transactions made by several companies including one of them is a supermarket in Mexico
That's right, bitcoin does need to continue to be given trust in any transaction needs in any form so that it can make trust in bitcoin continue to grow. because with many institutions or anything willing to accept payments with bitcoin, the level of trust will increasingly be able to make every investor excited again to save their funds in bitcoin. so there is a tradeoff to be received from this state of affairs for bitcoin.

Well --it will be fascinating to see if bitcoin can be utilized for everyday purchases. I wonder how Mexico implements bitcoin payments in their country and how it works. I hope that it will gradually become possible in various parts of the world, causing people to become more intrigued and will learn to adopt it. It's a fantastic step forward, and I'm hoping for a great outcome it could be the same in El Salvador that regulates bitcoin.
However, this could be a great step forward.

Of course today Many people want to use Bitcoin as a means of payment. But it seems to me that we should consider Bitcoin first of all as a protective asset for our savings, as well as a very expensive asset for accumulating our savings. but cryptocurrencies such as CRATD2C, and others, will be used in everyday life, not only as a means of payment, but also to facilitate business.

The good thing about Bitcoin is that it can be used as a store of value and also as a currency and medium of exchange.

I do not live in Mexico, but if the mentioned super store is a big one then it is a very good thing. I am sure by this announcement, the sale of this super market will increase and the other stores in Mexico may follow the same and allow bitcoins as a payment gateway.

If one business receives good numbers of users, it will affect other store to start embracing and adopting this system.

Like what you have said, the good thing here is there are other ways to use your Bitcoin aside from store of value
we can see adoptions and interest from institutional investors and businesses.

We might see more places to use this chain and be friendly with other valued cryptocurrencies..

I think a lot of other businesses will jump onto that bandwagon sooner or later. Considering how popular cryptos are, it is likely a matter of time.

Elektra supermarket in Mexico recently started accepting Bitcoin payments and is encouraging their clients to do so, as they offer a 20% discount when paying with it (until end of the year).

Here's the promo banner (in Spanish):

Now people in Mexico are able to buy groceries, and retail in general using Bitcoin directly.

An interesting thing to consider is that the parent company, Grupo Elektra, has operations in these countries: Mexico, US, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Panama, and El Salvador.

source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grupo_Elektra

That means that they already accept Bitcoin directly from at least 2 countries: Mexico, and El Salvador. Some of the other countries in that list could potentially be the next one.
Mexico is one country that still refuses to use bitcoin as a legal payment in that country, because as far as I remember June 2021, the richest person in Mexico Ricardo Salinas who is the owner of Banco Azteca wants to create the first bank that accepts cryptocurrency in Mexico, but it seems that Ricardo Salinas desire get a strong rejection from the financial authorities and also the mexican government, and I think from this refusal it seems that Ricardo Salinas will stop his desire to see bitcoin adoption in mexico, to be honest I'm very surprised apparently Ricardo Salinas still wants to develop the use of bitcoin in mexico, by accepting payment for goods using bitcoin at one of its retail businesses, namely elektra.

it is a very good thing where a supermarket in Mexico accepts bitcoin as a means of buying and selling transactions at the supermarket, we hope that acceptance of these transactions can continue in the long term considering that currently bitcoin really needs an adoption process or a transaction like that, we really I hope that the transactions carried out by the supermarket can at least make bitcoin better, especially in the process that bitcoin prices can return to being stable as before

Yup, the same is happening in a big chain of supermarkets (the biggest actually) in my country. But as I wrote in some other post on the forum, I always saw, and have seen people more knowledgeable than I refer to BTC as a store of value, more in line with gold. So As I see it, more people think of BTC as a long-term investment they don't want to touch. What would be a better option is allowing crypto payments in general (not all coins, just the biggest alt's). That way people would maybe treat does coin as a day-to-day exchanging option and just leave BTC to accumulate value as an investment. maybe ETH could be the one to break out that first barrier and then the rest would follow.
But, let's not forget that there are also people that hoard top alts more than they hoard bitcoin because top alts do also have a potential and they also follow the move of btc, when btc move up, so as them. You better say that they will add the altcoins that are not really that important such as meme coins like doge and shib because people wont mind spending lots of them as their future is not that bright enough.

Having an altcoins or tokens as a payment method is better than btc because another thing that stops people from using their btc is because of the high transaction fees and also the slow processing of the transactions.

Well, those who keep up with the times always win. If all competitors are still thinking about it, then someone is already implementing and getting additional profit not only from new customers, but also because the news itself has a good chance to increase demand in this supermarket! Until this becomes a mass phenomenon, those who are the first in their industries to be able to prepare such options for paying for goods and services will certainly defeat their competitors in the market!

this is a breath of fresh air for bitcoin with the transaction process carried out in one of the supermarkets in Mexico by accepting bitcoin payments as a legal transaction tool at the supermarket, at least it can revive the bitcoin price which is so plummeting at this time especially the acceptance made at one of the supermarkets. The supermarket is a form of achievement that is quite positive for bitcoin, so slowly bitcoin is starting to be accepted in various circles, bitcoin is starting to be accepted in various circles

We will hear more and more news about Bitcoin adoption, because the popularity of Bitcoin continues to increase, especially after El Salvador legalized
Bitcoin as a legal tender. Like giving some merchants the courage to accept Bitcoin payments, I have heard of several shops, hotels and restaurants
adopting Bitcoin. Now there are supermarkets that accept Bitcoin payments, of course will have a positive impact on Bitcoin. But unfortunately there are
still many countries that prohibit using Bitcoin as a means of payment, this prevents the Bitcoin adoption process from growing faster. I hope that
in the future the majority of countries in the world will allow Bitcoin as a payment alternative, if that happens, many big companies will start adopting Bitcoin.

This really sounds great! Hopefully in the coming years bitcoin will be accepted around the globe by all countries.

This is a vision which satoshi has given us that world should have a global currecny that is bitcoin. It is just a matter of time when everyone will think like this.

this is a very interesting topic where bitcoin can buy a variety of food utensils in one of the shops in Mexico, of course this can again increase public confidence in bitcoin that digital currency can also be done as a buying and selling transaction as well as existing in a shop in Mexico, we really hope that by accepting bitcoin as a transaction tool, we can directly increase the price of bitcoin on the stock market because it has started to be adopted in various circles.especially in Mexico.

This is another good news for the bitcoin lovers. Every now and then, we hear the bitcoin being used in shops and restaurants and this number is increasing every day. Currently bitcoin transcation time is a bit slow but with theintroduction of lighting network, this hindrance will be resolved also.

Yeah, it’s really nice to see a store that is accepting Bitcoin as a payment, as it is not every store that would be able to accept Bitcoin as a payment method because they know how hard it would likely be for them to be able to accept Bitcoin even after its existence for more than a decade.

I mean it’s not an easy thing to do because the volatile nature of Bitcoin is not easy to handle when you’re accepting it as a payment method from your customers, when you are not even sure about where the market would be going to next, and you don’t know if it would go down or up. So, it’s really good to see that there are so many businesses ready for it.

Really, is this for real? I mean, wow this is one of the achievements that the community of bitcoin in Mexico should be glad and in fact this is what I am looking forward too here in my country which I don't know if it would be possible in near future because our government bodies are still don't open for the possibility of legally adopted bitcoin as a legal tender. Truly, it is so good to know that despite of many negative news about crypto reading this kind of news can boost up the possibility that soon the world may adopt bitcoin wide arms.

When I said that Mexico is probably one of the next countries to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, I got laughed at. Well, not really laughed at but rather scoffed at....
If a supermarket can offer Bitcoin as a payment choice, and has absolutely to face zero legal repercussions, then thats a very good sign. And I think we will be seeing a very nice spread. This might be the 100k event we have been waiting for.

That being said, 20% bonus? That seems like a bit of overkill. Can they really afford such a large rebate for their business? Well, whatever. It definitely will make more bitcoiners. Win win.

this shows that bitcoin is starting to be accepted by various groups, although it has not yet been fully realized, of course, for a perfect adoption process, a very long process is needed, but what is one supermarket in Mexico doing about purchasing transactions using bitcoin in one of these supermarkets.this is an extraordinary thing considering that currently bitcoin is in dire need of adoption, for example, as happened today with the acceptance of bitcoin as a transaction at the supermarket, we hope that this can run in the long term
