[1] What do you think about this?

Thanks you very much for bringing the earlier thread link which I didn't notice on time, though before I create this thread, I made small research on Google to know if such thread (s) has been created but I didn't see any from the search so that gave the moral to launch this thread and since there is another thread exist before mine, I have to Locke my thread so that the two threads will not clash. Though the contents are different but the ideas are one. Ones again thank you guys.

Clearly some people don't take religion seriously and this is evidence on its own that people are out their to prey on people's faith and I know for sure that mostly women are the usual target market as these are desperate for marriages, and God's intervention in their lives and will take taith which enriches these so called pastors.

With the pastors secret lifestyle exposed thanks to this big win, this will question if the clergy have other motives besides the church. Otherwise nice win Mr pastor.

What do you have to say on this issue? Pastor shuts down church after winning N100m sports bet
Well, I think it's fine that he ended it up rather than continue it with a lie on everything he says. The thing is that for only a small amount of money the pastor has changed inevitably but as I've said it's good that it was end so soon rather than to continue. I wish it's a good decision by the fake pastor and hope it will change his life with that winnings.

Help me digest this but is 2 grand that enough in Uganda to set someone for life?

Also, he may have gained enough money to set himself for life in Uganda but the angered church gatherers and those who followed him in his Pastor days will definitely get his ass someday. Props to being honest but that's never going to justify taking advantage of people who are probably impoverished themselves all because you can't find a good job to feed and support your family. This is scamming with extra levels if I do say so myself lmao.

Evangelists are definitely a different breed of scammers if I do say so myself, his is a very unique specimen. I hope he gets his retribution no matter how funny this story is. People's lives are deffo ruined after hearing the fact.

Fake Pastor
It is no longer a news in Africa in particular or the world at large in this week being 21st or there about to 24th of Match 2023 that a Pastor from Uganda, won a Sporting bet of #100 millions which is equivalent to $2171.65 and because of that he closed down his church, and making the members to confuse. When interviewed. He said he open the church because of poverty and hungry so he was using the church to get extra income to feed his family and since he has gotten what he was looking for, there is no need for to continue. He said, he was not called by God to launched the church but he was just giving fake prophecies to keep the church going.

It is not surprising to hear this kind of news.  There are lots of people pretending to be the messenger of God and creating their own sects and churches.  At least this guy still has a conscience and shuts down the church and admits that he is making fool of his followers after winning a huge amount.

I think the figure you stated is somehow wrong, the Pastor bet 1 million of his currency and the winning odd is 700x so isn't it 700m in total?  A mere $2,171.65  won't make the pastor go far so I think it is more than that amount that makes him decide to quit his fraud activity.  Now I wonder what would be the reaction of his followers when he shuts down the church and admits that he is lying to them.

F*ck him and feels bad for the member Sad

However, we all-know how the gambler ended. Even he win some money, 2000$+ is still small from my perspective and all the money win from gamble is always come back again for using the gamble.

If you win, you're not gonna to stop. If you lose, you're not gonna to stop because still currius and want to recovery your lost. Then, ended with debt for type person like this.

Indeed that is small so I think the fake pastor won more than that.

He was most likely also using their tithes and offerings to fund his gambling habits. Now that he has closed down the church, since he has won some money, he will be funding his habits with some of this money that he has won and soon go broke again if he does not make other solid investments from this winning. Some may argue that he will not gamble again, but I doubt that he will quit this habit since the mentality that he can win more will always be there.
That could be possible like he was also using them to provide for his family aside from gambling. If that’s his intention why he has built his church, then probably winning from gambling is a good sign that he will stop spreading the fake news since he’s not a real pastor after all. This is indeed a big sin using the church for his own desires, but it will be a lot bigger if he never win a huge amount and still continue to deceive the people. So maybe  winning from gambling may consider be a blessing in disguise for him.

But just to give my opinion on this, this is not new but every time there's a news like this that a pastor did something else aside from his church work, it's on a different level. They're not committed into taking care of their church member but I guess that's what a worker will do when he's out of budget.

What a sad thing on which someone do end up on becoming a fake pastor just for him to support his family which is something that not really good to do.Preaching out fake divine learnings or teachings just for your fake intent which i dont see for it to be that good no matter what angle you would really be looking. Also 2k amount isnt really that much but since we do talk about Africa which we know
a country which poverty rate is high and economical status isnt that great which these amounts is something that significant. If he decided to quit and close up the church then i do feel
sorry for those followers.

Many people believe that religions that demand money or other values from their followers are frauds. I'm not a religious person, so I can't speculate about whether this pastor did the right thing, but I have heard stories of highly religious people admitting that their church cheats people and they work there because they were once cheated.

Nothing to say but congrats Pastor, you did it!  Not everyone has this luck, he must be richer than the mayor of his town by now. 100M shillings is more than $700,000.

First, He will easily go broke for disclosing his jackpot win to his congregation. Nothing stops him from concealing his wins, and at same time shut down the church. Yet, I'd applaud him for opening up that he wasn't a chosen prophet and as well a deceit to people who trusted him. Second, if he doesn't have any other means of making money to train his family, that means all the money he earned will go back to the gambling house. As he'd be staking to earn more jackpots. However, congratulations to him for his big win.  Grin

He wasn't really a real REAL pastor, to begin with, which is maybe a good start for him to stop living the lie. I couldn't help but smile a bit for him.
