sorry i can't post elsewhere than the newbie thread yet but speaking of ports is anyone else getting an invalid certificate error with the 443 https://www.abcpool.co address?

Yep. The same for me. Since yesterday. Of course, it may be legal server maintenance by it's admins, but it also could be famous 'man-in-the-middle' attack. So I switched my miners to another pool until we get some clarification.

Hi!

Have you guys thought on the possibility of supporting port 80 mining?

Cheers,

Hi Crosby,
It tells me " A donation of 2.1% covers our operational expenses. " when I try to set it to zero.
That message is always present, no matter what donation percentage you set.
Quote
Isn't a forced donation pretty much a fee ? In so. invalidating the "advantage" for the registrant thus nullifying trust.
The donation percentage is not forced at ABCPool. You should be able to set it to 0%. Did you include your PIN? What is the message that is displayed at the top of the page?

Do you offer merged mining?
Hi Element51,

The extra income from merged mining has been around ~5.0% lately, as can be calculated from difficulty levels and exchange rates. We do not offer merged mining rewards. We do have 0% fees, making our payout level about the same as BTCGuild. An extra advantage of mining at ABCPool is that you do not have to worry about managing an NMC wallet and exchanging the NMC for BTC: All your payouts are conveniently in BTC.

Thanks for your interest!

NEWS: NTime-Roll support slashes stale and invalid rates!
Abcpool has been running quite stable for a while now, and judging from the forum posts most people are mining with us without any issues.

Since scaling up our systems a few weeks back we've worked on an area that affects both performance and earnings: NTime-Roll support. This behavior ensures less system load and even quicker response times, especially when it matters most: when the countless Long Pollers trigger all at once. We've been watching the stale and invalid rates since we deployed this new version several hours ago, and we are pleasantly surprised the rates have dramatically improved:

Old stale rate: ~0.2% - ~0.6%
Old invalid rate: ~0.3% - ~0.8%
New stale rate: ~0.06%
New invalid rate: ~0.23%

That's right: on average, our members are now generating bitcoins with 0%-fee for 99.77% of their submitted shares. That's a number that is certainly among the best any pool has to offer, if not the best.

Thanks for your continued support, and happy mining everyone! Cheesy

MC

NB: If you are experiencing invalid rates higher than 0.5%, please make sure you are running the latest version of your miner software.

On a different note:  Are you guys tweaking the back end right now?  looking at my miners, they're reporting that I'm getting over 50% rejects today.  Switching over to my backup, they went down to <1% , so I don't think its on my side...

We indeed had some issues at our side. Everything should be ok now again. We are investigating the cause.

Chlorine - keeps your pool in top condition
One may have noticed that I am not the regular author of ABCPool forum posts. Normally I am working behind the scenes. As the pool grows and grows, MintCondition has asked me to be his first backup. For our miners nothing will change.

Happy mining!

A much more logical reason is that old work causes the pool to miss out on transaction fees. How is that? New transaction (and their fees) keep coming in over time, and make the next block more valuable with every second that passes since the previous block. If someone hands in work that is 120 seconds old, that solution will not contain the transactions from the last 120 seconds. Remember that there are on average only 600 seconds between blocks. This means that work that is 120 seconds old misses out on (on average) 20% of possible transaction fees. Those 20% are passed on to the finder of block n+2 however, so the effect cancels out. Unless there is some pool that decreases or increases its age-limit, because that will shift the fees in favor of one of the parties.

OK.. thats a much more logical explination than I've been able to find... thanks.
