I'm not sure why people bother farming accounts, creating alt accounts etc. I can't be bothered and don't really have the time any way. If people are doing it to sell accounts why not just build up an account with good reputation & join a good signature campaign?

It's a lot more fulfilling to be a Legendary member or something & earn fairly well by making 50-60 posts a week. Legendary members can earn maybe over 4 bitcoins a year from a sig or avatar campaign.
It's not a huge amount but if you're working too it's a good little side earner .

If bitcoin goes to the moon those 3 or 4 bitcoins you're earning from a campaign simply for posting on a forum fairly regularly could buy you a new car or be a deposit on a house? It beats farming Full Member accounts for 0.2 bitcoin or something surely?
I mean how many is it possible to do at one time & is it financially rewarding enough to bother?
Just my personal opinion, obviously people are entitled to do what they want.

People don't just farm Full Members. You could farm Ledgendaries if you had enough dedication. And it can be worth it for all the reasons you just stated especially if people are willing to put in the time and effort and people can join the signature campaigns with multiple accounts rather than one and maximise their earnings.

it need a lot of dedication(which mean plenty of time, that can be used for posting with your main instead of wasting precious post on the offtopic board to increase your fresh newbie account), though, not many are doing it, otherwise no one will buy, this is certain

and if you are in a campaign with no limit, it makes less sense for you to have multiple account... actually it make no sense at all

also in the time required to build a legendary account, you can earn like 30 btc with signature campaign, at least, when with a mere legendary you could earn at best 1 btc(they are worth more but i think none right now is willing to pay 2 btc for it)

so basically you need to build 30 legendary at the same time to match one good hero, that is farming with one signature campaign only

I don't think it is worth to farm accounts here! You can just join signature campaign and earn more! I take exampe of coinut pay per post sig campaign (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closed-coinutcom-signature-campaign-pay-per-post-weekly-992660)! For full member, you post 100 times and get 0.09 BTC in one month! For farming an account to earn that amount of money, the account level should at least reach to full member and and all of posts should have quality! To reach this level , you need to take 4 months and post 120 times. Besides that , you should remember to post at least 1 between two weeks' time otherwise you take more time to reach that level!

Additional maybe when you want to do a post on a thread try not to get caught by the people here that you're farming an account here because the posting in same thread, this possible you will get banned from the forum

I didnt understand a thing of what you said but i assume you are referring to posting on the same thread with 2 different accounts which is not against the rules if your posts are contributing to the thread although im not sure if you have 2 accounts and you ask something in a thread and you answer to yourself with another account, probably thats considered against the rules

Account farming is not worth it, months of making a post a day to keep up with the potential activity and at the end of the day, all you end up with is a measly 0.5 at most
Nobody can give you a guarantee that they wont be banned but that is down to you. Make decent/relevant posts and you can have as many accounts as you wish either on signature campaigns or not, but if you make poor spammy posts you risk having them all banned. I wouldn't just make posts exclusively in off topic though either. If you want my opinion it's not really even worth the time and effort farming accounts now as you get so little for them in comparison. It would be best to just use them for signature campaigns instead.

what if the account is only made for games and rounds section? so the post can still be seen as spammy/insubstantial?
not spammy but insubstancial

i doubt it, how can someone make substantial post in giveaway threads?
the posts may be substantial but the account may be insubstantial in that it contributes absolutely nothing to the forum,

IMO to farm accounts you only need to post no more than 14 message every 2 weeks per account. it is not that much even if you make all of your post constructive.
so no need to spam short posts, just take part in discussions like normal.

you just need to post once every activity period, and your account is eligible for the the 14 activity for that period. even with just 20 posts, the account could have a potential activity of 280.

It's probably not really worth it now. It was when you could easily get 0.5+ for Seniors and 1.4btc for Heroes but now Snrs seem to struggle to get 0.2 and Heroes 0.4 and you have to spend 8-16 months doing it. Signature campaigns could be banned by then any way and then they'd likely be worth next to nothing.

You never know what the value does in the future. If bitcointalk remains one of the main hubs, hero and legendary accounts can hold quite some value when discussing ideas etc.

Of course the account only for off-topic is banned.
However, if you make two accounts and use them to interact (e.g. Account A had a question and Account B answer it), this may not be a good practice because it is just spamming the forum. Farming accounts need very high quality posts, or if one of them if found to be spamming, then most likely all of them will be banned, which is a high risk to the accounts. Make double, triple or 10x contribution to the forum if you wanted to farm accounts.

You dont need very high quality posts, you just need normal posts and why would an account be banned if it only posts on off-topic section? It wont be banned for posting only there, as far as i know you can post wherever you want.

AFAIK if you post too much on the off-topic section AND ONLY on the off-topic section you'll get banned.

I know badbear said something about only logging in to farm account by using the irrelevant threads on the off-topic section will get you banned... but I can't find that post

Well yeah i guess you still have to post something more than just 2 words or postin in the same off-topic thread, i stll feel farming accounts for selling them later is useless, it takes a good time to get to sr member and they are not sold fot that much, unless you are farming 30 accounts which i doubt anyone would do.

If you actually put some effort in to your posts and not just spammed the spammy threads like what drink have you just drunk with one word answers then you would probably be ok (but I still wouldn't recommend it and this is a bitcoin forum after all). There are some people that seemingly post almost entirely in Politics and Society with or without signatures and they're fine to do so, but most account farmers are lazy and think they can get away with just spamming crap in every thread in off topic and that isn't going to cut it.

You can have as many alt-accounts as you want, as long as you don't use it to deceive, spam, scam or send unsolicited messages.

Quote
Scenario:
Ben will just post in Off Topic Section Only
And if "Ben" is only posting in the off-topic section, he shouldn't be here.

It wont matter unless you spam or post crap, i have seen high ranked members that post mostly on off-topic. You can even scam, it wont matter since you dont get banned in this forum for scamming, so you can do whatever you want but dont spam
The difference is that you are linking your accounts up. If you post regularly on one account its somewhat okay but if you farm accounts solely on the intention of selling it, it would be bad. Especially if you are contributing nothing to the community at all.
