Hey OP, since you've gotten every combination and permutation of the same answer from multiple members, why don't you do the forum a favor and lock this thread.

And by the way, if you'd bothered to read any of the introduction stuff (the thread _BlackStar linked to is stickied in Meta) you'd already have everything you need to understand how activity and posts are related.  Try to practice better forum etiquette in the future, please.

Post count and activity are two different things. You can make unlimited posts and increase your number but you can only get 14 activity points every 14 days. It starts from zero together but at one point your post count will pass your activity if you post regularly (If you make more than 1 post daily).

I think one of the reasons why this is constantly confused by new members may be that the post count is not shown by the forum when you first become a member. In fact, I've seen many members who have been on this forum for years and don't know how to open the post count.

Click Profile from the bar > Forum Profile Information

Have been wanting to ask  why is it that most users here their activity is different from their post count. For example you will see some user having the post count of 500 with activity of 125 why is it like that and what Is the course?
You can make many posts you want if you have time with small limitations on minimum waiting time between two posts. With higher forum ranks, you will have less limitation of waiting time (shorter waiting time).

However, limitations on maximum activity point for an account is the same for all ranks. Each account can have a maximum of 14 activity points within 14 days period. You can make 100 posts within 14 days period but you will gain only 14 activity points.

Difference you ask is from these limitations.

You can use the spreadsheet to see activity point updating time.

You can make 100 posts a week but still you won't get more than 14 activity points within 2 week even if you can make 200 posts within 2 weeks. Activity is somehow increases when you make around 14 posts within 2 weeks and that's an hard limit.

It won't increase more than that within 2 weeks, just keep in mind that you will get 14 activity points per 2 weeks and 28 per 4 weeks. Activity is needed to rank up on this forum and it's somehow dependent on someone's presence and active post making but it has some limits.

The ones who make 500 posts won't get 500 activity points because of the 2 week 14 activity limit. That's why the example you mentioned in your post had 500 posts while only 125 activity points. Activity points are needed to rank up but if someone earns 4000 activity points and no merits then still that user can't rank up.

-snip-
Because activity is calculated according to a certain formula, which takes into account "number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration". Therefore, the number of activity on the forum will always be less than the number of posts written. You can read more about it in this topic Activity & new membergroup limits.
Let me quote it for visibility - but OP also shouldn't ignore this thread to find out how it works: FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Rough summary of what this means: If you post once per day on average, then you will eventually get the maximum number of activity points that you can get. Posting more than once per day on average is useless for increasing activity. The maximum number of activity points you can get is 1 per day, but your activity score only updates every two weeks. Therefore, it will take about 100 days to get 100 activity if you post once per day on average.

Activity is updated every hour.

The new membergroup limits work like this: (Edit: Obsolete, do not use)
GroupRequirement
Brand New0 posts
Newbie(none)
Jr. Memberactivity: 30
Memberactivity: 60
Full Memberactivity: 120
Sr. Memberactivity: 240
Hero Memberactivity: 480
Legendaryoccurs randomly between 775 and 1030 activity

I'm not 100% sure that the membergroups work correctly. Tell me if you see any bugs.

OP - You need to read as often as possible the topics pinned to the top of all certain boards, they can help you know the rules or maybe important information. If you read - then you don't need a special thread to ask. Of course you can ask questions as long as you are still confused - but try to read first.

You can earn max 1 activity point daily. 1 written post brings 1 activity point, and everything is calculated for 14 days.
Potentially, a user can earn more than 1 activity point per day. If you make 6 posts in one day within an activity period you earn 6 activity points, but as you pointed out it is a maximum of 14 points in 14 days. The only outlier is when a new user opens an account close to the end of one activity period and can earn 28 points within the next 14 days + the number of days left for the activity period they joined in.

Let me simplify the math for you.
You can earn max 1 activity point daily. 1 written post brings 1 activity point, and everything is calculated for 14 days. So, a minimum of 14 posts in 14 days brings 14 activity points, while 14+ (22 for example) you will still get "only" +14 activity. This is where the difference arises in favour of the post count because many people write more than 14 posts bi-weekly.
There doesn't need to be one post per day, but the number of posts is counted within the 2 weekly calculations of activity.

Try to be more active and you will earn activity point.
Because post count does not mean count in activities, you will not earn activities just because you are posting .
