That's a good move for your business and it's a wise action to accept Bitcoin as a mode of payment. It will be convenient for your customers who are also into cryptocurrency. I'm also planning to do the same thing for our business and offer a good discount but I'm still in the process of surveying if there will be payers who would choose Bitcoin as a mode of payment in our place.
Not just convenient but it's also helpful for bitcoin to be promoted because newbies to the crypto space will be curious about this and in turn they themselves will explore it themselves and in the long-term the adoption increases.

The initiative you have taken will make Bitcoin more popular. You implement the initiative as soon as possible. With all these initiatives, the popularity of Bitcoin is increasing day by day Bitcoin will one day be so popular that people can imagine it if everyone takes the initiative. Bitcoin will be so popular at one time that people can imagine it.So I salute your initiative. Implement such an initiative as soon as possible.

this is a very happy thing and it is my pleasure to share this joy with you. You are a technology lover and know how to take advantage of the benefits of cryptocurrencies, there are many places that want to buy and pay with cryptocurrencies. but for any business in my country that doesn't have this kind of payment anywhere yet, I'm quite disappointed and hopeful that in the future in the country where I live will accept payment in electricity death.

The increasing popularity of bitcoin has a lot to do with the promotion of people who know bitcoin very early.

I wonder if the number of bitcoins is determined in advance? Because of volatility, the number of today and tomorrow is different. How do you solve this problem? Do you have any discounts for customers who pay with bitcoin?

I want to know the specific details. Maybe I will have a chance to follow suit in the future. Thank you and wish you all the best.

I'm really glad to hear from you. You are a first class fighter who is working directly on the spreading of Bitcoin. Thank you very much. If this kind of work could be done, it would be very easy to spread. But most of the countries are still restrict bitcoin. Hopefully soon Bitcoin is going to be the best currency in the world.

Im also glad to know there are business who will accept crypto so ere is no need to transfer or convert every now and then which is sometimes troublesome. Having bitcoin to use in transaction can help.

I don't know how the development of Bitcoin legality in Nigeria is, but as far as I know the government is starting to worry about crypto trends in society.  However, I'm sure OP understand better about it.  Because the business of a legitimate payment system must refer to the regulations of the government itself.

Thanks guys for the advice and contributions. I’m already acting and making changes to my business model, also implemented some of the suggestions here. I feel good about myself and know I’m doing something great even though it may not be visible now. I will be in touch on this thread and promise to give updates on how my decision to accept Bitcoin as payment has affected my business. Expect a continuation thread in two or three months!
This is not a one day process mate and the effect cannot be predicted instantly , just continue your legacy and surely in time you'll take fruits from this offering .

Remember that Bitcoin is the most promising digital currency in the whole world so what we are only waiting is the mass adoption and will see the benefits of all our effort in this market.

those who are laughing on us will soon reminded that time will end and our turn is near to come.

When we use bitcoin earlier we will be faster to achieve success, many people think that bitcoin can't be used for direct transactions, but we have a strong global community so we must give priority if there is a business related to bitcoin such as an online shop who accept bitcoin.

Just wish it's crypto business that are less dependent on the country you live or is independent the system. For businesses that are required to contribute to the government(in form of taxes, levies, etc) they will need to use wallets that are controlled by Just national laws. These are some of things I will consider before using crypto for businesses. Hope good decentralized platforms that support people/businesses that are dependent on countries could implement the tax and other ideas, and make the payment automatic... In the end, the Bitcoin principles/ideals are be preserved and users are satisfied.
Have a nice day.

Congratulations.

Understanding Bitcoin and its environment for the normal layman is quite tough and challenging. But still having willpower can make miracles.

Traditional and old businesses as well as a new business having the great idea to connect with a new audience by creating a new gateway for accepting payments in crypto.

All it requires is a wallet address to receive payment which can be verified on the blockchain explorer.

Rather for the interested user, you can offer exchange services or exchangers too, which can give you residual earning.

If a business is registered, you can contact any particular blockchain which is a much lower cost for the transfer, to give more power to users, by accepting specific cryptocurrencies such as Stellar or Tron or users choice, along with exchange services.

for your business I congratulate you because you are an innovative businessman. I think you have to really plan carefully if you want to use bitcoin because you have to prepare a lot, such as socialization to customers, customer security guarantees, attractive promos and others that customers don't get when using cash payments. it's a strategy and can attract customers using bitcoin

Biggest barrier that could affect the people's usage of bitcoin for day-to-day transactions would be its seemingly complex nature. The regular joe wouldn't spend an hour or two just trying to figure out how the payment system works, based from personal experience as a customer service representative in the past. There are user-friendly wallet options like Phoenix wallet that new users could take advantage of, but it would definitely take some time before a huge portion of the population accepts crypto as a day-to-day transaction tool.
I read a comment in a thread where he said that the time will come when banking will be an old method or tool when it comes to the financial aspect. Where I agree with this, because people can see that the inflation rate only eats up their money that they save. The same goes for every business, which no longer needs to open a bank account to receive payments especially in large amounts. While there have been great changes in crypto, one of them is having a high gas fee per transaction solution. That way its users will be comfortable.
People are becoming more and more intelligent, and a huge portion that causes this is of course the exponential development of technology. Now having that said, the thirst for innovation is becoming more and more apparent, and since fiat can only do so much and has offered the current generation so little, there is a really good possibility that as long as nothing too harsh happens, bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will replace the current financial system that we live in that severely favors the rich and leaves the poor hapless.

Thats good news I hope that one day Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will be widely accepted in most stores globally, by the way, here also in my place there's a number of food stores that were accepting crypto but not Bitcoin or Ethereum but it was XRP, and maybe soon they will accept Bitcoin and Ethereum but their argument was settled on the transaction fees. which is a big issue while paying using Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Actually, there are going to be stores that will accept cryptocurrency unless there's a government rule that forbids the acceptance of crypto as payment.

In this section of the forum recently I have read a thread of someone who has a shop and it's a clothing shop where they have started accepting 3 cryptos and it's going good for them, right now even if a handful of people are doing it then in future there are going to be more.

I have been in the forum for some time learning different aspects of bitcoin, now I want to be more practical about bitcoin as a currency. I introduced crypto payments for my business and have been making sales lately. I'm in the clothing industry and I believe in crypto. I have my wallet addresses and barcode printed at the door and pos! For now, I accept Bitcoin, usdt and Etheruem. These are 3 popular coins in my community.
So far customer feedback has been good. Some people are glad to be able to use bitcoin to actually pay for a service, Nigeria is a growing market you see. In addition it has also got my business attraction from customers who are in the crypto space. The challenge though is the issue of transaction fees, 8 out of 10 customers aren't exposed and only use the blockchain wallet. I try to educate them on other wallets with low transaction fees like electrum.
I feel good about this new development. I get to interact with customers about Bitcoin and share ideas

Wow I'm very happy for your new innovation in accepting cryptocurrency as a means of payment for your product which I believe will trigger more persons that are into cryptocurrency to follow your pattern and style of business. In fact cryptocurrency is a far easier means for payment of product or goods for a business that is universal. It is easier for people that is not in your country to pay for product they desire and willing to buy with low or not charges.

You certainly shouldn't propose electrum for mobile users and it would be way better if you'd offer Bitcoin via LN.
If other bussiness owners would want to accept Bitcoin as a great alternative I could give these reasons, for example:
- Accepting payments in bitcoin is as free as cash, but without the risk of counterfeiting and allows for perfect tracking as the law requires
- It has negligible management costs or binding contracts. This allows you to keep your cash outgoings down and be more competitive. In addition, the ratio between processed value, sending time and transaction cost in Bitcoin is better than the visa and mastercard payment network.
- With Bitcoin you can receive payments from anywhere in the world in just 10 minutes without letters of credit and endless banking processes. If you decide to convert your bitcoins immediately there's almost no exchange risk.

It's a good idea and I look forward to tapping into such, a time is coming when most business transactions will be on crypto. Through this, you're advertising yourself to your respective customers on crypto and with time you will get attracted to other people who are into crypto to patronize or partner with you.

You can as well canvas customers without access to Internet and crypto technical knowledge that they can invest their money and yet get some returns over it with time unlike the commercial banks, but you must have built a level of credible trust from the community around you before this can be achieved.

It's really brave of you to do this. Some people on this forum are more of sayers than doers.
I have to agree to this and we have also to agree on the fact that not all of us are planning to run our own business, not like what OP does. So this literally means that the majority will just say what they can picture on their minds what will happen later while helping these doers to think if they are right or wrong, /or if they will continue. feedback is very important and that is a need for OP to listen.

Gas fee will be a challenge anyways.
This will be a huge problem when accepting crypto. The fees will cost a lot, this could burden the customer and might decide to pay in fiat, not in crypto.

Does it will take too much fees for a clothing service sale for bitcoin payment ? i mean if your products is under 100$ price i think it's too much if you open the payment in bitcoin moreover if you charge the transaction fee to the buyer.
So i think you better open another cryptocurrency payment with lower fees, but the weakness of this strategy is not many people know about cryptocurrency besides bitcoin. Just a little suggestion from me.

Currently bitcoin is universal currency and everyone is interested to learn and understand more things concerning cryptocurrency but in generally bitcoin, any business you setup and demand payment with bitcoin i believe people Will be in line to patronize you due to they want to use the avenue to understand cryptocurrency because their mindset will go that for you as a business person to accept payment with bitcoin it's obvious that you know very well about it, from the concept that you know bitcoin they will acquire crypto knowledge from you, but you should have made it open for all the cryptocurrencies payment and not to be specific for only three (3) coins as you listed.

Transaction fees is indeed an issue and then there's also confirmation waiting time when the blockchain is busy. I wonder if you can put a small discount on purchases made through crypto that will enable more users to pay with crypto.

I feel good about this new development. I get to interact with customers about Bitcoin and share ideas
Keep up the great work and it is inspiring to read such stories. I just wonder if people still prefer paying in cash/fiat or they are actually inclined to make payment with cryptos.

I don't think I'm supposed to pay taxes for transactions conducted using bitcoins. I will have to discuss this with a professional to make sure I'm not breaking any law. Thank God my country isn't as strict with tax as the UK and other countries
Huge mistake to start your business without contacting a professional accountant and a tax lawyer who deals with crypto currencies. You should talk to them as soon as possible or else interest and penalties are going to kill you. You might still have to pay income tax and all capital gains when you receive and convert your coin to a fiat currency. Or else everyone in your country would be doing business using crypto currencies to avoid the tax. Bitcoin is not a tax haven unfortunately.

Seriously lot's of people have started accepting bitcoin as there payment which is very nice I believe this is very helpful for bitcoin Growth. I encourage lots of people to also accept bitcoin as there payment method which will be very good am really happy to hear you this.
^ It is a case-to-case basis.
If your country was fully open-minded when it comes to crypto acceptance then that is fine to accept BTC as payment. And also, always remember that BTC will always have a fluctuation and it could bring you a profit while saving this in your wallet. But of course, you need extra funds so that you will be able to reinvest stock when you needed while the market is in a low direction. Nevertheless, good thing OP brings more awareness to people that hold BTC, they can simply help and encourage everyone that using BTC is the very important thing.

This is a great idea for customers who wants convenience in purchasing products using bitcoin. Having cashless spending will promote digital currency adoption, and I guess not all individuals knew this thing because what they're aware of is the traditional fiat money. Unlike cryptocurrency used as payment, you don't worry about physical cash in hand but it's all about virtual money.
Yes and it helps both the customers and sellers.

The seller gets more buyers because there might be a few people who would visit his store and make purchases solely because he accepts Bitcoin. There are people who will buy Tesla cars with BTC but don't want to do the same with fiat money, it tells us that people want to spend Bitcoins.

The buyer gets extra options. There are normal payment modes but an extra option doesn't do any harm to non-crypto customers.

This idea is very advanced. Compared with your peers, this method is beneficial. Whether it is for merchants or consumers, merchants can get some profits from market fluctuations.
In the current boom, there are many fields involving accepting cryptocurrency payments. I have to say that this also touched me. I also want to be a company that accepts cryptocurrency payments, but at present I have not figured out a good direction. I believe not After too long I will have a goal.

I think the government in your country supports bitcoin. because in my country accepting bitcoin as payment is strictly prohibited. Bitcoins can only be traded not for payment. I think you have to work harder and take advantage of bitcoin so that your business will be more successful and I congratulate your business for adopting the latest technology, namely bitcoin.

We can add bitcoin for additional payment methods, maybe by accepting bitcoin it will increase the transaction volume because payment with bitcoin is very easy and fast, currently many governments have banned bitcoin but I'm sure one day they will soon accept bitcoin.

the other thing you do is give people who dont know about crypto, try to learn it though just a little bit, and thats a good for spreading bitcoin. seller must be patient with customer to explain about crypto.
and as what you said before, it can attract customers from crypto as a user, and ordinary as the people who need to know.
Yes I think this new initiative does exactly that, people walk up to me and ask random questions about bitcoin. I have been nicknamed the Bitcoin guy  Grin
But will this be well received by other people? for the acceptance of bitcoins as wages from their business,
I'm not a miner and I accept bitcoin, usdt and eth as payment in my business. Tbh this is an experimental project as nobody in my country has done this before there isn't like a business model to follow. But I believe this will work for me

Do you keep all your earnings in BTC? Or do you convert some half of it to fiat? If you keep it all in BTC, what about the volatility? Have you ever been affected by the volatile market?
I keep 70% of my earnings in crypto. I'm in for the long game, the changes in bitcoin prices doesn't bother me I just want to stack more bitcoins.
What about the confirmation of the transaction? Do you just trust all your customers and allow them to make purchase with zero confirmation?
That's is one of the challenges I face. I wait for at least two confirmation on the blockchain network. Those who are familiar with Bitcoin understand that the network can be congested and slow sometimes, so they prefer the preorder service ( Pay Before Delivery) from the comfort of their home. Also I'm learning about LN, its faster and more efficient once I understand it well enough I will implement it also and encourage my customers to do so

How about taxes?
I don't think I'm supposed to pay taxes for transactions conducted using bitcoins. I will have to discuss this with a professional to make sure I'm not breaking any law. Thank God my country isn't as strict with tax as the UK and other countries

Thank you very much. Many on the thread have suggested using Lightning network. I have to read more about it though, I know there are threads that explains the LN on the forum. I just have to search for them.

Make sure to check out Basics of The Lightning Network and The Lightning Network FAQ. The latter one is fairly active; feel free to ask your Lightning related questions there. However, that thread contains slightly out-of-date information. I am currently working on an update. I will probably publish it at the beginning of the next week. this seems like a very good start, even though in terms of volatility both eth and xrp are under btc but that's okay because this could be a very good start and this could be a stepping stone in crypto in your country.
maybe they do this not without reason and there are considerations for it because we know bitcoin is now a very big and extraordinary thing both in terms of enthusiasts and scale, bitcoin has become a very extraordinary thing.
but here it doesn't mean that eth and xrp are also small things because we know that eth and xrp also have a very large fan base. and it's just a matter of time for your country to step into something bigger in crypto

Just a quick question, as a business owner, is there any difference, in terms of profit, when you accepted cryptocurrencies as a payment method on your business? In addition, due to its high volatility, is this move going to make your business more profitable or liquid in the years to come?

Most businesses have started to integrate cryptocurrencies as a payment mode to their business but I am curious as to the difference in profit. Due to its high volatility, you can either earn or lose money at the same time which makes your clothing, in a way, an investment on its own.

Yes I'm working on that. I've narrowed it down to 2 companies to chose from. So far customers are more familiar with btc, eth and usdt. I strike conversations with them to gain more ideas for my service. At the end of the day I know which customer is satisfied and those who want to pay in other crypto, with that data I can increase the payment options

Bitcoin and Ethereum are some really nice coins but the transaction fees will create a problem when the network is facing high congestion.
So whichever coins you narrow down make sure they don't have such problems.
This is to make sure your business is not impacted due to network congestion on Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchains.

Probably they accept XRP because it's much more stable than most cryptocurrency out there, that's what some of my cryptos go through before I can spend it on fiat but sometimes a P2P could go nust fine for me. So far, I haven't seen any store or business in my area that accepts crypto for payments but this is a good thing because everything starts small.

Amazing.  As a crypto enthusiast as well, I greatly admire those like you for using and accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment for your products sold.  Your courage to do that and use it as a partner in your business.  It's also fun to think that they're learning something from you, that's a good interaction.  Apart from BTC and ETH, what else do you accept?  Do you already have an online shop or website where we can see your clothing products for us to browse in case someone likes and is interested in buying as well?  Thanks for sharing this.

I see that some small businesses are much willing to take risks accepting crypto than those well-established stores.
Personally, this really risky for them but why not try since the use of Bitcoin now is already visible worldwide. It just happens that the use of it becomes limited dues to not all establishments are accepting this. Maybe, if that was widely used as another payment option, that will encourage the community to use it as well but since it was not, this could be a big challenge for you OP.
Well, I have nothing to say but to wish you success.
Actually this is varying on business owners own view towards crypto. It doesn't really matter if its a small or well-established because anyone could accept if they really wanted to.

For sure those who had already done those things are pretty much aware about volatility risk because its impossible for business minded person not to know with those basics.

If someone do tend to accept bitcoin as a payment then its up to their choice and that's good at least those crypto people would have some option for making payments.

It's good that you're accepting but what have you thought about tackling the problem of waiting for 1 confirmation before delivering the products from your clothing industry to the customer.

There's a good possibility of someone buying a good chunk of stuff from you and pay you in the moment then revert the transaction (double-spend), Where he gets to keep the stuff and money.

Do you make them wait for 1 confirmation?
I've seen after some blocks are confirmed next blocks take 40+ minutes for the confirmation.

Such a great news for us. Accepting payment in the form of crypto currency is a good idea and a great blessing to all BTC users.

Good luck to your business and may some businesses may also accept BTC payment in the future.

Of course this is an idea worth emulating, using bitcoin for company operations is certainly more effective than a bank account, I've worked for a company and they have many bank accounts so it looks very troublesome, but the presence of bitcoin makes work easier.

the other thing you do is give people who dont know about crypto, try to learn it though just a little bit, and thats a good for spreading bitcoin. seller must be patient with cuatomer to explain about crypto.
and as ehat you said before, it can attract customers from crypto as a user, and ordinary as the people who need to know.

That's a very good initiative. We need more people like you to start accepting crypto as a payment to buy goods and services.
Only when more people start accepting crypto payments the adoption will take place at larger scale.
Thank you Pawanjain. I believe bitcoin will gain more acceptance as a currency in the near future. I just started accepting crypto payments in my city and I'm convinced that with time other brands would imitate the idea when they see how enabling and lucrative it is.

I would like to advice you that when you receive feed back from your crypto customers then do ask them what coin would they like to pay in.
Then you can probably start accepting coins which benefits both you and your customers.
May be you can buy a service which will accept other coins and convert them instantly to the coins you like.
This way your customer will have the flexibility to choose his own coin while you receive the coin you like.

We cannot feel the pain in the ass if bitcoin at stable or in upward state since for sure we cannot feel the effect of volatility so this is the reasom why advice that before going to something better research and understand the whole context of thre ame so that we might now hos to react if situation will go similar to this. Although its easier to work with crypto than fiat but the fact that this is not still regulated on our country we still have chance see the worse by using this.

For now, I accept Bitcoin, and Etheruem.

Congratulations on your business!

It's really nice to read that there are businesses like yours that are already accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as mode of payment. This can help the users to have alternative option for paying and bitcoin as well because collective effort of adoption will lead to mass adoption, that can help encourage more enter of investors as time passes by.

I just wonder though, how much of a hassle are transaction fees and processing time? Does the transaction fee in paying crypto higher than the usual payment methods like e-wallets and banks? How about the processing time? Does it confirm and reflects instantly? Because these are the usual concerns of customers. Of course, as seller you want the best possible option for your consumer and the consumer wants that as well. Glad to hear you are not just after the sales but you educate them as well.

Good decision to grow high in business, when you accepted bitcoin as payment. Many bitcoin users are looking for where to purchase goods with their bitcoin without fiat money. Once you accepted bitcoin as a payment in your business, there will be a positive change in such business.

Receiving and paying with bitcoin will make us train to invest, with the number of users more than 200 million and continues to increase so it makes me not hesitate to make a business using bitcoin, it may take time and technical but I will look for online shopping that accepts bitcoin.

The challenge though is the issue of transaction fees, 8 out of 10 customers aren't exposed and only use the blockchain wallet. I try to educate them on other wallets with low transaction fees like electrum.
Electrum is not having any special low fees, but it's better than any online wallet because you can set fees manually, if you know what you are doing.
I would suggest that your customers use bc1 bech32 addresses to lower transaction fees, and maybe give special discount if they purchase more goods on weekend when fees are usually cheaper.
Even now anyone can send BTC with low fee of only 1 sat/vB or $0.07, but you can always add alternative option off accepting Lightning Network payments.

I think that segwit addresses is what the op probably means by saying that Electrum offers low transaction fees, as Electrum allows segwit addresses, whereas blockchain wallets do not.

Op, is this an online or an offline store? If it's an online store, people can just set the fees which are lower than average and have their transactions confirmed within a few hours rather than within one hour, and that could save them money on the fees but also be okay because there's no rush with online purchases. If it's offline, tell us more about how the process works, as even paying a high fee still requires waiting for about 10 minutes or often more before a transaction is confirmed. Do they just wait in the shop till the first confirmation? What happens if a transaction gets stuck?

I or we would like to hear more about your experience. So far we saw the situation from buyers point of view, we all saw and read how people pay with crypto. But there are few examples here from sellers part. I'm interested to find out how often people pay in crypto, are they satisfied, why they have chosen to pay in crypto (was it just a test purchase or they do it regularly).

this is a very happy thing and it is my pleasure to share this joy with you.

That's a great way of introducing it to them; needs such as clothing items are something normal citizens would buy consistently.
Since buying bitcoin has fees, giving a discount is reasonable to counterbalance with a transaction fee.
Even though it's a challenge for you, Including crypto as a payment method is enough to spark interest and curiosity in your customers.

I always support if there are people who use Bitcoin in their business, because the purpose of Bitcoin was created as an alternative payment.
So accepting Bitcoin payments at our online store is a good thing, besides being able to help introduce Bitcoin to many people. Accepting Bitcoin
payments will make our store traffic more crowded, because it will trigger the curiosity of customers who come. The problem is not many people
can do this related to the rules imposed by their respective countries, because not all countries allow using Bitcoin as payment. So very lucky
for people who live in countries that allow using Bitcoin as payment.

for me it's okay when someone wants to accept bitcoins as payment for their performance wages if the wages are paid according to what he has done, and we can easily keep the bitcoins if we don't intend to release them or sell bitcoins to replace the hard work our pain is given by the company, because we can say bitcoin as a substitute for traditional currencies whose exchange rate also has the same value as the payment of salaries we have worked so far

Bitcoin can be accepted and easy to exchange at any time, even in countries where bitcoin is banned then we can trade on exchanges in other countries, receiving bitcoin wages in my opinion is a good idea so that it makes us learn to invest, of course bitcoin recipients will be happy because the price of bitcoin will continue to skyrocket .

I am glad to hear that working businesses are starting to accept Bitcoin as payment. There are only two problems that prevent Bitcoin from sweeping the globe. First of all, its volatility, so you can’t set the fixed price, as bitcoin’s price is constantly changing. Secondly, the speed of transactions. If you are an online shop, it is not a big problem, but in case of payment offline, bitcoin can’t be used because of its slowness.

That's actually a bold move for you and you deserve that booming business for trying. Why not introduce other cryptocurrencies that have a pretty low fees? like for example doge, or TRX. That's to give options to people who are reluctant to use cryptocurrencies because of the demanding transaction fee of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Accepting Bitcoin payments has a positive impact on the company and Bitcoin.

The influence of cryptocurrency in the financial sector continues to increase, and Bitcoin is becoming more and more popular and can be traded without borders. Using Bitcoin to pay can have customers all over the world, and the company will have a larger market.

The Bitcoin payment method will also make people who have never been exposed to cryptocurrency interested in this payment method and will allow more people to use Bitcoin, and the influence and development of Bitcoin will become better and better.

There are also many people who like Bitcoin wear clothes with the "Bitcoin logo" on their bodies.
Of course, if you are in an area where you can use cryptocurrency, you can use cryptocurrency to receive payments. If your area does not allow the use of cryptocurrency, then don't make cryptocurrency payments.

It is fun to use Bitcoin practically in our real life, we will not feel the real change of the existence of Bitcoin unless there is a real use, so people should be encouraged to such businesses that use Bitcoin, it is very important to spread the culture of Bitcoin to teach people how to use Bitcoin and the best wallets To avoid high fees because as you say there are many people who do not know that there are wallets that can reduce fees.
Also, you can use the Bitcoin Lightning Network to reduce fees to a minimum by opening a channel between you and the customers you deal with constantly, so that fees are reduced to a minimum.

This is very common now that there are small merchants online or either offline accepting Bitcoin as payment because it might they saw the advantage on it and IMO, the number one reason is that security, followed by fraud prevention such as chargeback and the low fees as long as the business owner knows how to apply Lightning Network per transaction, it's suitable for the micro-transactions.

I also think about if OP will use a payment processor for this so that he can accept Bitcoin that comes from exchange using fiat.

Anyway, congrats OP for your business, I also think about my business accepting Bitcoin soon but this isn't about the clothing industry.

Bitcoin fees now is on its cheapest and thats why i dont see for it to be a problem but it would be an another story if there would be some clogged in the network which do really end up on why most people do really still select fees but its good to see that there are people who are willing to make use of crypto payment directly.

Also one of the reasons on why merchants arent accepting bitcoin or crypto is on volatility issues. If you do go into the brighter side of things then its up to someone
choice and preference.

Well, I had nothing to say but congratulations and good luck bro, I hope you will succeed in your business because that is not easy accepting bitcoin as a payment, it could be a risk on your part if you don't have extra money to re-purchase a product while bitcoin in a low price. Though your concept is good but to be honest, this will have a danger on your side. However, if you accept online payment you can choose perhaps a third-party payment for both safety, buyers, and sellers. However, this not only for your business but they also learn what is blockchain and the bitcoin system.
That probably he needs backup money in case that the price of Bitcoin will dump so he can still hold and continue his business. This was a risk-taking business accepting crypto, volatility makes it a very uncomfortable situation which might possibly bring your losses and shut down if it is mismanaged. This was also a reason why some big companies aren't pursuing to accept Bitcoin payment due to unstable prices.

Well, OP had made a strong decision, I hope he could make a good profit from it.

Congratulation on your business and hopefully this kind of payment method can really run very well and much better again.
Most of the problems or challenges to face in this transaction are the transaction fee itself and also the speed of the transaction.
Some members have introduced you to using the lightning wallet and you may use it.
And you can also give some information about this in your store, making it as a poster, banner, or other that your customers can also know about this latest news of using the lighting.
And I am also curious, what's about the fee? Does the customer pay the fee?
And how is about the price? It depends on the current price or based on fixed USD or fiat?

This is a good thing what you are doing, but I must say that buying things with bitcoin is a headache, I particularly prefer using Litecoin or other altcoin to buy things as they are cheap and fast. i think you should consider using altcoins that are fast and cheap, plus most people prefer to use bitcoin to make hodl, i wonder if this scenario will ever change

Those who trade in cryptocurrencies are currently in a very good position because doing business now can be the most profitable.

That's why a lot of people don't use bitcoin to make payments, because they want to profit from trading or Hodl and that won't change anytime soon.

If you actually implement cryptocurrency payments in your store, it seems that you need a platform that will help you manage cryptocurrency payments to make it more secure and easy to convert and accept multiple cryptocurrencies.

Try using Coinbase Commerce, it will help you to manage payments for the goods you sell very easily. You can choose what coins you can pay and you can convert them quickly.

good luck with your business.... btw, i strongly recommend that you accept payments by "lightning network" (for payments via BTC).  Bitcoin fees are also very volatile (sometimes very high but can be low) but the low fee of the "lightning network" is very stable.  You have to think about accept payment with ethereum because the fee is quite high and there will definitely be only a little few buyers who use it (and maybe yourself will have difficulty with the high fee of eth)
Thank you very much. Many on the thread have suggested using Lightning network. I have to read more about it though, I know there are threads that explains the LN on the forum. I just have to search for them.
About the high transfer fee of Ethereum, I know tron and Nano have less fees but they are not very popular here, that's why I chose only Bitcoin, Eth, and Usdt. With time I will be able to expand to other coins

i really applaud your enthusiasm and hope that everyone who owns a business starts considering to use crypto as a payment and to promote the use of it as a currency and not as just an investment, but my question is what type of business are you or what type of goods to you sell, are they everyday things like food that does not cost a lot, if so that how do people handle the fees and the transaction time, do you wait for full conformation or just trust that the funds will arrive.

Innovations such as these are a very welcoming one for the public, its going to be challenging on both sides but, it also calls for a chance for the education of the masses which serves an unsolicited publicity for bitcoin. One thing I fear for your sack is the attention is going to call to you from both government and some uninformed few. Most persons believes those that are into bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are so rich and so, even with you living an average lifestyle seems like a disguise to them. As much as you are doing a good thing, don't take your security for a joke.

if indeed a company where we work accepts bitcoin then we will also be willing to accept our work wages into bitcoin, moreover bitcoin almost resembles traditional money and we can also sell it on the stock market if we want the asset to be used as money, this is indeed a step which must be considered first considering that currently bitcoin has not been widely adopted

The most important thing is the exchange market, as long as you can exchange fiat at any time then this doesn't matter, now there are many big world companies that continue to develop bitcoin so I'm happy if my place of work pays me with bitcoin, this will be a savings and investment that will grow in the future day.

Congratulations for the business you are running, and I hope that the purpose of it can be useful for your visitors and teach them about blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
however, be careful in reducing transactions, because the fees are also too low, sometimes the transaction is canceled, and that can be detrimental to your prospective buyer. besides, you only mention 2 of the 3 coins you accepted. I hope, you also use BNB, because I think BNB fee is much cheaper than ethereum. well, that's real development in real life.
I've always wanted to do a business that accepts cryptocurrency payments, it's just that my country has regulations that prohibit crypto as a means of payment. lucky enough for you to be able to do that without breaking the rules.

I'm glad that there are people who are trying to contribute to the growth of cryptocurrency adoption even with the simplest things, because with so many things we can evaluate going forward, address solutions, solve new problems and find alternatives to choose from when plan A doesn't work, then there is a plan B.
I'm sure you have other payment alternatives, and that has become an independent way of doing business, in other words you can pay with Bitcoin, you can pay with fiat money too. So that other people who order are not focused on one particular commodity.

Hopefully the business you are running at this time can run well and smoothly.  Wink

Yes, the transaction fees are a issue with a lot of retailers... but when they switch to "Lightning Network" wallets... the fees are not an issue anymore and the bonus is "near instant" confirmations. The problem is... not a lot of people are familiar with the Lightning Network yet, so the slow adoption make it a bit of a challenge.   Roll Eyes

What Exchange are most of your people in Nigeria using? The transfer within an Exchange is not as expensive as a payment to an external Bitcoin address from these Exchanges. (So if you keep the coin on the same exchange... then the transfer of the coins are a bit cheaper.. it is only expensive when you withdraw from the exchange)  Wink

For now, I accept Bitcoin, and Etheruem.
I get to interact with customers about Bitcoin and share ideas

well congrats to you mate, indeed it's a good idea to make the payment so easy and you know instead of using any digital currency its good to rely with blockchain because at the same time you can get benefits from it when market is in bullish mode. Lol
by the way if i were you mate make a poster as well how they can pay bitcoin and ethereum with low fees so that they can follow the steps immediately rather than teaching them one by one wherein it will take time for sure  Cheesy

That's smart decision, actually you also embrace bigger market which is very potential. Even I want to buy your products too but unfortunately we are in the different country. Shipping cost will be very expensive. You can use cryptocurrency related e-commerce too, I think it can increase your sale. It seems that most of cryptocurrencies price are still very volatile, maybe you can use vendor service when your business is getting bigger.

Just in case the Lightning network hasn’t been discovered yet, I probably wouldn’t recommend it to my acquaintances as a new payment option. But there is already a Lightning network, even though I'm not very familiar with it yet, it can help a lot in our daily lives. In case this is not yet discovered, users will most likely only pay a large amount to be able to ship from one person to another quickly and there is a lower fee per transaction.

I accept bitcoin as payment for my business, I think you have done a good job, because by accepting bitcoin for your business, your customers will automatically increase, and your company will be more widely known, and for sure your company will progress too.
I haven't seen one business in my area that's been doing what you're doing although you cryptocurrencies is a lot more popular in my country. Although I feel like even if there's one business in my local area, I think that not a lot of people are going to be using it as a payment method.

accepting bitcoin as payment for your business is a very good idea, because considering bitcoin is very popular, and there are many who hold bitcoin, in fact almost all countries have adopted bitcoin, so I think the steps you take will be followed by other companies, because by receiving bitcoins, your company will automatically become famous, and your customers will increase. I hope your company is successful..

Did you say you accept 3 coins? I'm curious what the third is (since you mentioned bitcoin and ethereum only).
The third is usdt because it is a stable coin and serve as a backing.
My plan is to hodl bitcoins as much as I can. Before now I usually keep 40% of my monthly earnings in bitcoin. I'm not worried about the volatility of bitcoin. I'm a strong believer in bitcoin and I'm in for the long term.
This is quite good for the adoption of cryptocurrency and seems like it'd be about as easy as contactless - just scanning a qr code, putting in the amount and going from there.

If you grow further, you can issue payment requests to customers either via a tablet or a screen on your PoS if they ever send the wrong amount as then you'll be able to set how much you request (with the qr code request mechanism, you can give them each an individual address to pay then too if you wanted to anonymise yourself).
Thanks for your insight. I think that's a good idea

I would've said that it won't work but given how famous bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are right now, I think that this is the right way to go, back then I was skeptic about it since not a lot of people knows a thing about them. Progress I guess is a good thing for bitcoin.

Like Lucius says, offer an alternative payment or help toolbox -- even regular merchants usually display options with cheaper fees. Might encourage them to try out something with lower fees if they saw an info tool tip that says "want cheaper fees?" click here. There are also lightning apps like Bitkassa that helps users pay easily on L2 (how difficult it is I don't know but they have a really good team to help out). I don't normally suggest things I don't even try out myself but there's an online community full of merchs using it and they seem pretty happy.

Don't forget to add your shop to sites like Coinmap! Visibility doesn't hurt =)

Many congratulations! I too have a POD store running successfully but unable to use crypto as a payment method because the government is unable to provide a legal framework. However I am little unsure if I should be accepting bitcoin or other cryptos even if my government provides me with a legal framework.

How are you hedging the extreme price volatility of cryptos? Are you settling the cryptos against cash immediately after making the sales? Or are you holding it back for a better pricing in future?

Since Clothing business doesn't have a great amount of margin, need to understand the plan.

Congratulations on setting up your crypto clothing business and it's good that a member is accepting btc and crypto payments for his sale to customers and promoting and awaring people about the same at his level. You can use LN for payment with customers and use that wallet for convenience and fees related issues.Overall it's good to see people accepting btc as payment mode.

You have mentioned 3 most popular coins in your area but you have mentioned only bitcoin and ETH and what's the other coin you are talking about?

Electrum is not having any special low fees, but it's better than any online wallet because you can set fees manually, if you know what you are doing.
I would suggest that your customers use bc1 bech32 addresses to lower transaction fees, and maybe give special discount if they purchase more goods on weekend when fees are usually cheaper.
Even now anyone can send BTC with low fee of only 1 sat/vB or $0.07, but you can always add alternative option off accepting Lightning Network payments.

Don't use on-chain transactions for small amounts, it isn't economical. A $5 USD transaction would be 0.0001BTC, and that excludes the fees paid by the customer, the fees paid by you in the future as well as the time needed for the transaction to get a confirmation. If you want a speedier process and something that doesn't incur that much fees, consider lightning network. I find that the adoption is rather small, partly due to the lack of motivation for people to switch. It'll be better for more merchants to progressively start to adopt alternative solutions.

Good job
I admire you for trying to contribute to the economic transformation in the world, surely you can experience faster payments if you can make bitcoin payments in the garment industry, in addition to being able to have a lot of customers from all over the world.
Good luck, mate.

If you mean that blockchain wallet, then it is possible to set a custom fee there as well as on Electrum - the only difference is that Electrum has much better options like coin control and you can bump the fee. I think you need to teach them how to properly determine the fee (from mempool data), and given the size of the transactions.

Maybe you could make one info corner in the store regarding payments with cryptocurrencies. This would help those who are not quite sure how to make a payment efficiently, but it might also be of interest to some others who have not yet come into contact with such a method of payment.

Wow, I'm a clothing business owner here in Philippines and I'm accepting cryptocurrency as payment, But so far only few is interested to pay in crypto and many people here preferred fiat payment even though I always offer a great discount when purchasing using cryptocurrency. Sometimes I think that crypto user in my country don't buy new clothes online and rather spend it to invest more on crypto currency. I'm interested to know what will be your plan for the volatility of the price of Bitcon. Its good if it moves upwards but business will really hurt once it go south.

BTW this is my clothing business ANN thread here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.57334907

Maybe you should create one too on your local board so that they will support you and purchase some on your store just like what I did on my crypto friend.  Cheesy

1. Congrats on your business
2. Electrum doesn't have cheaper fees. Probably better fee recommendations, but definitely not cheaper fees.
3. Check out Lightning wallets such as Phoenix[1]. So far it's the best I know in terms of noob-friendliness. I created a thread[1] in the past and some of our fellow members have voiced their opinions concerning the wallet. So far so good.
