I was looking through Abra's website and apparently they have transitioned to become a custodial wallet. They are using Bittrex as their custodian.

The seed phrase they give you only allows you to recover access to your custodial account but I do not believe it is used for generating deposit addresses.

You can read this article for more information: https://support.abra.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040834752-Native-Coin-Migration

Even before withdrawing, Binance will also warn to be careful of where you are withdrawing to because it can be very hard to recover the asset if sent to a wrong wallet address. Bitcoin blockchain is different from USDT, and moreover USDT is supported by many blockchains now such as Tron, Omini, Ethereum, and even EOS in some exchanges, therefore how this issue will be solved is what anyone can hardly tell, because the mare looking at it, it looks complicated. However, you can continue contacting ABRA customer service to hear from them, at least, it doesn't cost anything to contact them, therefore continue sending them mail until they respond. Sorry about that.

Hey there o/

It was a pleasure to chat with you migs. Smiley

I tried my fairest shot to help out migs360.
However, I believe that only with Abra's input, he'll be able to find the correct settings for the iancoleman's page.
(So he can use the privkey on the omni chain, yada yada ...)

Something strange : you need to open an account in order to use the wallet. Mycelium doesn't do that. Coinomi doesn't do that.
Given the use of the extra word "at", place at the very beginning of their seeds, this brings some more questions to me.

It'd be possible for Abra to make their wallet/seed "somewhat" proprietary.
They could store the derivation path on their server, in the user's account.
Simple way to make sure that someone with an Abra wallet will always have to use their Abra wallet.

Sure, Abra doesn't store the keys nor the seed on their server, but since it's proprietary, we can fathom anything about it.

This was the 1st time I heard about the Abra wallet, and I strongly advice against it.
Use standard software, open source software.

Can someone help me to recover my usdt tether?
Did you not get a response from Abra customer service yet? Continue to ask help in all their social media channels. They are your best shot.

I'll give a commision.
Someone may take your offer since there's a reward involved but don't entertain just anyone who sends you a private message. Perhaps you can also offer this to Abra CS so they'll expedite your request  Wink

Still no luck there customer supports sucks

Yup. I have correct seed phrase
This from our coversation from @yogg
So sorry about that, that means you will need to contact Abra's customer care, if they can recover your tether for you. But, using reputed wallet next time would be better. And, also know that we should make sure we send to the right address, not the wrong one, because a single mistake might lead to coin permanent loss.

Abra wallet seed is a 13 word phrase but if you remove "at" at the beginning it will be the standard  BIP39 mnemonic.
The problem is iamcoleman tool generated a different private keys because abra's using a custom derivation path.
Do not mind them, it is 12. If the first word start with at, just ignore it. Then write the other 12.

When I created the wallet for experiment today, this was the seed phrase generated:

at mention country giant rice boss people bid asset boring midnight wise begin

I know it will be 12, and iamcoleman tool indicated no 'at' in BIP39 seed phrase. Just neglect 'at', if there.

Please, do not share your seed phrase with anyone. This one is used for my research purpose today.

This got me confused too as I told migs360 to get the private key using iamcoleman but said he is unable to do that. If you check my first posts up here, immediately I saw this topic, I generated Abra's wallet and I was given the 12 words seed phrase, I used it offline on iancoleman and it generated me the seed and the extended private key which I believe it can be used. But migs360 is saying another thing which I believe either he has lost his seed phrase or inputting a wrong seed phrase. I believe only using the seed phrase will also work on wallets like Coinomi, he said it did not work too. He needs to truly contact yogg for further assistance.

Thank you so much. Do you know the telegram of @yogg? I can't message him since I have a limit of 1 message per hour
Do not contact wrong person, make sure you contact him using Bitcointalk PM. This is yogg profile link:

It's going to be a lot of work but it's possible to recover the bitcoin if you are a pro iancoleman user, I don't know if you will be able to find someone who can help you but make sure they are someone you can trust before giving up your recovery seed

akirasendo17 & cheezcarls , OP is in possession of his Abra backup (13 words seed) so nothing is lost, he just needs to find a way to get the private key from that address to which the USDT is sent.

migs360, I suggest you contact @yogg, and I'm pretty sure he can help you. This is a specific situation, and members who don't read at all can't help you - as long as you have a seed, I believe you have a great chance of finding a solution.

Looking for gigs
I accidentally sent my binance usdt to my abra's btc address.
I've tried to the bip39 tool to recover my private keys (I have abra's wallet seed)
But the problem is bip39 tool doesn't show my bitcoin address
I've heard that abra uses custom derivation path.
I've contacted the abra team but no responce

The thing is you should have triple checked the receiving address before sending. This is one of the common mistakes of sending from wallet to wallet, or exchange to wallet, etc. Since it’s an Abra wallet, so it’s a USDT20 address (and it always starts with 0x). BTC addresses usually starts with 1 or 3 as it’s first character.

Accident or no accident, this is a lesson that you should learn. Always triple (or more) check or verify before sending. I’m sure that they are not going to be liable for your losses once you made a mistake in sending to a wrong type of coin or token address.

Do you have any idea how can I extract it?
Go to iamcoleman
https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

Scroll down the tool to see how you can use it offline.

Then, if offline, you will set the seed word from 15 to 12, I believe Abra's wallet generate 12 seed words for you. Or set it the the one you have with you.

Then, input the seed phrase into  BIP39 Mnemonic space provided by the tool. Then the derivation paths will automatically be generated. And scroll down.

The Derivation Path will be BIP44 automatically, which is the derivation part for legacy addresses. If not set to BIP44, then click on BIP44.

Scroll down to copy the Account Extended Private Key.

You can import it on USDt supported wallet, and let us know if it works.

Do not do this online, it is not safe. Do it offline.

It says thats unkown key format

I think they have a policy that if you have sent it to a wrong address like BTC or in a chain Tron or erc20 for example, they will not be liable, and at the same time it will be lost, there is a note below when you are going to get the USDT address, I'm afraid you will not be able to recover that, next time make sure to double-check triple check the address, but if there is a way, I would like also to know so that if ever I also made a mistake I can learn also how to get it, if ever
