You shouldn't worry because as soon as it is proven that the account has been successfully recovered already and the original owner is now in control of it, the red tag will either be removed or changed to neutral.

I see.
I had the impression the even though the account could be recovered, the red trust may stay because they are not moderated.
Thanks for the explanation.

I was just concerned that if a hacker ever manages to access my account, they may end up giving me a red trust-score before I can recover access, for example.
Red tag is not actually a concern, here is something what can happen on worst case which is they may violate the forum rules which will lead your account to be banned permanently so after that recovering from it has very little chances so you need to keep your account safe but

  • Avoid login from unauthorized devices
  • Better avoid using the email from spam sites signups
  • Don't connect your device to public wifi
  • Staking your BTC address

In case if the hacker accessed your bitcointalk account and changed the email and password, you will still have 14 days to lock your account which can be executed by clicking the link which will be sent to your old email. So your account will be locked until you go through all those recovery process.

I have a question about keeping un-authorized accesses away from my account.

There is no need to complicate things and worry that someone will hack your account, because all you need to prevent this is a unique e-mail that you will use only for this forum that will be protected by a strong password, and of course unique (strong) password for the forum.

There is no chance that any hacker will come into possession of this information, unless you are very careless and the following happens to you:

- if you become a victim of phishing, because there have been several versions of a fake BTT forum in the past.
- if you have a keylogger on your computer/smartphone, which means you will compromise all your online accounts.

How often would you recommend anyone to check the logs?
The drawback is that, if you connect through Tor, or play around with a vpn often, the log gets more messy to interpret, and you’d have to play closer attention to the time column compared to your real habits.

Since IPs are stored in accordance to https://bitcointalk.org/privacy.php for some time, I’d rather have an opt-in feature to email my forum email with any login made from an IP not within my last set of used IPs over the past x days (i.e. 30). I’d even like the notification to be opt-in two-fold: successful login and unsuccessful login. This way, you could potentially become aware of anomalies whether you are using the forum, or away for a while.

You can check it with just a single click, so checking it daily anytime you login is fine.

I have a question about keeping un-authorized accesses away from my account.

I have already staked a verified BTC address and set an e-email up.

However, I wonder whether there is a Telegram bot around here which would allow me to track my own posts and sent merits.
I am currently an user of this wonderful Telegram bot: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/telegram-yet-another-bitcointalk-notification-bot-merits-mentions-topics-5248878 , which is a good bot but is lacking of the features I mentioned.

It believe, it would help me to take action very fast in case my account is ever hacked.

Thank you.

The good thing here about you is that you have signed a bitcoin message as it is a valid proof to prove ownership of your account. If your account is hacked, you will have at least 14 days to take action by locking your account via a link sent to the email you used on your account before you recover it. If you want to detect hacks quickly, you may only need to spend 1 minute of your time logging into your account and checking for recent activity every day or once a week "if you're very busy".

I was just concerned that if a hacker ever manages to access my account, they may end up giving me a red trust-score before I can recover access, for example.
In most case, DT members only temporarily tag them and will delete them once the original owner has managed to restore them. Don't worry about that.

A red tag is expected. If your account is hacked and it is confirmed that the one in control is not anymore the original owner and cannot sign a message with the account's staked address, then the account will be red-tagged. Of course, it will happen before you successfully recover it. But that's for your protection.

You shouldn't worry because as soon as it is proven that the account has been successfully recovered already and the original owner is now in control of it, the red tag will either be removed or changed to neutral.

thanks, I had no idea there was a Discord server with local mods on there. I'll definitely check it out.

Where did you stake your account?  On this thread (Stake your Bitcoin address here).
Quoted and verified Bitcoin signed message can't be deleted even if a hacker can access your account, you can still recover it to sign message again to prove that you are the real owner of your account.

We're the same, that Telegram bot I have used from the start and until now, that's cool and awesome and very accurate in time upon giving notification.
Just secure your account first and treat this as your valuable stuff.

I am aware how to recover my account with a signed message, Thanks.

Staked & verified BTC address is a good first step to protect your account.
I will suggest you (like everyone else) join in un-official Bitcointalk Discord server. Verify your forum account and your Discord account on there. the good thing is that some of the forum moderators are already there, so I guess you can get feedback quicker than through PM.
For example, the skype number in my profile is my Discord ID, which is verified on the forum.

This seems pretty doable, but I doubt any user has done this, probably due to lack of utility. You can drop a message on TryNinha's thread or the one created by LoyceV if they can be of help.

However, hackers who get into your account without you knowing would likely not post publicly if they plan to stay covert, they'll likely use private messages and third party bots cannot access your private messages.

For extra security;
• Set up 2fa for your email,
• Use an ad blocker
• Look out for cones of the website.
