Too Little, Too Late.
...
#1. Have a free version, that free version has 10 ad slots, and ads cycle with each notification, creating value for the advertiser, but not straining the user with one single advertiser every day.
#2. Have a paid version, $9.99 per year is nothing for a bot like this, and this version would be ad free.
#3. Have an enterprise version, $99.99 per year, this one is for the operators and various businesses at the forum, TryNinja I don't know if you remember when I dropped a donation and requested a chat group environment where I would be getting notifications for Coinslotty, that would be a good option to introduce. For a business $99 is nothing, and for you it means improving the product even further.

i would pay for something like this. and i especially agree with the point about adding more ad slots. you can run an auction for the slots, or sell them for a fixed fee.
seeing the same ad on every notification makes me subconsciously ignore it (ad fatigue), and i can imagine it would do more harm to the brand in the long run since no one likes ad spam.

But, already today the project is open source, and no one has replicated. And do you know why? Because it is not enough to take a code and put it into operation, you have to give support and maintenance. How many are willing to do this? Especially doing this without financial returns?

none, i would say, or we would already have had someone do that.

This is just an appreciation reply on this thread by me for @TryNinja. I might be late as I haven't checked the previous replies on this thread about the BC.game sponsorship link on every notification. I am not a tech guy but the advertisement link coming up with every notification is a genius idea. I bet sone haters will not like it but @icopress and @BC.GAME have been unique and creative with their marketing campaigns.

Because there is still one operating, although this is one of the reasons (regular support and maintenance) but chances doesn't go to zero. Vod is there, you or anyone or maybe me? I did one on the other forum but for fewer features only.

If I remember correctly, this project is contributed to the community and is open-source, sponsors are all welcome, if the bot is completely changed as a business, critics will overflow, then probably a new bot will be created by another for the same purpose since this is an open-source project.

I agree that the project should not change radically. This would cause users to drive away instead of attracting more.

I understand everything that you're saying, but from an advertiser position this isn't that much useful. If he doesn't have the exact numbers of "views" of people clicking on that Menu, then I'm not sure it will convert well.
This can be added too for CPM purposes.

As for your suggestions like SAAS, that's pretty good and interesting as a business proposal. This is only if Tryninja expands into a full run of advertisements on the bot. What was implemented is flat-rate advertising which is common to websites without CPC and CPM thus its more cheaper, only the stat of # users using/visiting a site or particularly the bot.

If I remember correctly, this project is contributed to the community and is open-source, sponsors are all welcome, if the bot is completely changed as a business, critics will overflow, then probably a new bot will be created by another for the same purpose since this is an open-source project.

I guess this is possible and most appropriate when /menu button is hit, below will be something like "sponsored" then a CTA button (company tracker link).
I also think its good to put the "Sponsored by Company name" inside the menu. It's because i see this sponsored message as "excessive" already on every notification message especially for someone who track multiple boards, and track user's post.

Well, maybe, put the sponsored message on every mention, merits and tracked phrase notification only, and randomly shows on the tracked boards, and tracked users then a CTA button inside the menu...

Maybe we're just reinventing the wheel now, maybe the standard approach is the best.

E.g.

#1. Have a free version, that free version has 10 ad slots, and ads cycle with each notification, creating value for the advertiser, but not straining the user with one single advertiser every day.

Would you be ok with ads on the bot?

Yes, you deserve it.

...
Additionally, if I would be advertising my project on your platform, I would most likely ask for a CTA button, e.g. Visit MyCasino.com for a 100% bonus.

Yes, you deserve it.

However, think of the advertiser.

Usually in ad campaigns you set a limit on how many times a specific ad shows to the user, otherwise it stops working for the advertiser and it's repetitive for the user.

In other words, develop a functionality to onboard 10 advertisers and cycle them each message. That way I'll not be spammed to death by bc.game.

Additionally, if I would be advertising my project on your platform, I would most likely ask for a CTA button, e.g. Visit MyCasino.com for a 100% bonus.

is this the truth? if so, kudos and congrats! Cool
Yes. Wink

With the financial help, I can spend more time fixing some issues and release new (more challenging) features.
This is so cool, why didn't you came up with this idea before? Or was there an idea but not a sponsor? This is a very creative method of advertisement. I wonder, how much does 1 week costs? Is it possible to track results? Do you know how many people saw it? I think you can easily track clicks with Google UTM links but I don't see any of them. These info can be very beneficial to attract more and more sponsors.

i disagree. not everyone is cool with gambling or gambling ads, could be due to religious reasons, a recovering addict, etc...
even the forum offers options to disable signatures and avatars to fit everyone preferences. and since the bot currently doesn't have that option, i think my comment makes sense, no?
And what about those who are cool with gambling and gambling ads?
Some doesn't feel cool with gambling, some doesn't feel cool with loans, some doesn't feel cool with alcohol and so on but I think we can't ban many things. I completely got your point but, you know, I have a slightly different opinion and also, this advertisement is very plain and simple, I think it's okay even if it promotes an idea that I don't support (I'm against promoting anything illegal of course).

I believe that for TryNinja, if he had the possibility of having another type of advertising, instead of bets, he would prefer it. But, unfortunately (or fortunately), at the moment they are the easiest sponsors to get.

We continue to see little availability of other services linked to cryptos, in advertising in these spaces linked to the forum. Which in my opinion doesn't make much sense, as the forum is the main community linked to Bitcoin. If I had a company with any connection to Bitcoin, this would be where I would always want to be.

Yeah, it's reality of Bitcointalk that in many cases you have 2 options - gambling or nothing. More or less same like with signature campaigns where most services advertised is about gambling, especially after mixers ban.
Personally, I always say that efforts should be rewarded as you're spending yourvvaluable time do do something.
And I would by hypocrite if I would be against gambling ads when I promotevgambling websitevin my signature Smiley.

I understand the reasoning of those who didn't like the new ad, but at the end of the day you also can't filter which campaigns appear on the forum (although you can simply disable every single one of them if you're a high-rank user). This is not one of the situations where the bot can't survive without the ads, but they help me pay the bills and it's good to know that the time I spend coding (some days for the entire day) is being rewarded.

Is there anyone with such a huge gambling addiction that they would stop using the bot completely because of it?

This ad disturb me and I'm glad that TryNinja will get some revenue - after all he is spending so much time for development of bot and it have to rewarded somehow.
But you're right that issue lies in fact that we have gambling ad. Let's say you had gambling addiction, I guess that such ad isn't something what you would like to see. And there is no option to turn off orvreplace it.
On the other hand, there is no option to turn off billboardsvon highways or ads on TV.

I was confused at first too, but now it makes sense.

I understand that projects like this require a lot of time and energy, and I’m sure this will help make the project even more awesome.

As said in the comment above you cannot control what you see on the internet and in real life, besides ads on TV, billboards, etc people will talk about those things on the bus, in restaurants and any public space, all of which you cannot control.

even the forum offers options to disable signatures and avatars to fit everyone preferences. and since the bot currently doesn't have that option, i think my comment makes sense, no?
Your comment definitely makes sense. My reply was more from the direction that if the project doesn't have funds to keep it functional, there will be nothing to pick and choose, so that takes precedence over the personal choice of some. TryNinja must have made careful thoughts before adding this after more than 4 years if running it ad-free.

this may put some users off from using the bot. but it's great that you finally have some sort of revenue from it to help maintain it.
I don't think this ad will put off anyone with how it's set up, nor should it.

It's a thankless job managing a very useful tool for tons of forum members, getting some financial help to manage it is very much welcome. If the creator can also make some profit from it, that also will be welcome.

This ends up being positive, as your effort and work on the bot must somehow be rewarded.

I believe not. The ad is very well placed and is not very "aggressive".

Now, maybe it can be adjusted, so it doesn't appear in all notifications. Just in one notification, every x hours, so it doesn't get too repetitive.

it's admirable that you have been doing this without any financial support for so long.

i hope to see the ignore boards feature added sometime in the future Wink
