You should just have to download the latest release and everything should work fine. As long as you don't delete your wallet.dat file.
And it is OK to send anomalies to an out of sync wallet? Sorry I am kind of a noob.
You need to add nodes to your config file. To be honest I don't know where that is on a Win OS but once you find it try adding these lines:

there is also a way to do it from the debug console using "addnode 71.105.130.10 add"

. Also you might want to hold off on the 'exploit' bit until the Gravity Well is implemented, it might throw everything off.
