EDIT :

Just one afterthought. You are not self-made. Without the support of the people that gave you merit, you would be nowhere. So maybe take a second to thank them as well.
Perhaps the reason he said self-made is that he put in effort to make quality post. Without any effort, you could barely get any single merit. I have seen Newbies with 1000 posts but with zero merits.

I don't disagree with the fact that he reached the rank because of his post quality. But we should not forget that anybody can give anybody merit for any darn reason and post quality would have nothing to do with it.
I too have seen people exchange merit for shitposting about some FUD they heard on some website.

TUE is a good member of this community. And I guess what I said there is a matter of perspective. You can look at it as a self-made achievement, or you can call it the grace of other good community members. Neither of which should take away any shine from his moment.

I guess this should be highlighted in the Indian section as I know most low rankers there have given up hopes of ranking up. Not that they are incapable of making meritorious posts, but rather because they are too unfocused about the health of the forum and instead want quick money.

Your ranking up should serve as an example that if people actually try to be a valuable member of this the Bitcointalk fraternity, then they can do it from any corner of the world.

Congrats and let's hope you get to the Hero rank soon enough. Good luck.

Congratulations but aren't you a Hero Member ?

His rank before the merit system introduces to bitcointalk is Hero Member.

Now he got more than 250 Merits, If he started from a newbie he got Sr.Member rank.

Same as me, I started as Full Member now only need 27 Merits to archive a truly Hero Member rank.

3. There are many sections in this forum where we see less activity. Keep an eye on them, but you also need to read before you post there.

Can you specify some of these sections. It may be helpful for all.

Congratulations mate, you're one of the few users that have caught my attention on the altcoin board (believe that's where we encountered ourselves). Your post are far superior to most of the replies on that boards which makes it easier to merit your posts, keep it up.

Congratulations once again, achieving the legendary status won't be an issue since you got the qualities of a quality poster and also you have the activities already so it's just a matter of time before you achieve that goal.

Congratulations, you're a hero member as well as a self made senior member, that makes it two ranks for you mate Grin. There is this inner joy when a user advances to a new rank, it's more of a congratulation on a job well done and an effort well put in.

What I believe is patience is always needed in ranking up, there is no doubt it takes time, and only the users who can continue to make an impact on the forum for a consistent period of time would keep ranking up.
Congratulations because you're one of such users.

You are the third merit fan of mine as per BPIP  Cheesy
https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=TheUltraElite
I probably should use BPIP more than I have been, which is not at all.  I forget that you can check all of those stats there--and believe me, I'm well aware of Vod's efforts to make it a great website, I just don't think about merit stats a lot and tend to forget about BPIP.

Anyway, I figured I might be one of your merit fans since I agree with a lot of your posts and they tend to have some bite to them.

After the merit system started, 14days because I was on vacation, which I think I had conveyed to you due to some users red tagging issue, I remember.
Alright, I don't remember that but I get a lot of communiques from members via PM and so forth, plus my memory of such things isn't that great to begin with.  If you want any more excuses, please PM me and I'll write something up.  Lol.  It could be that I just didn't see many of your posts for a while, though you do tend to post a lot in Meta--or it could be that you had a period when you weren't posting as much.  Anyway.  Hopefully it won't take you almost two years to get Legendary status because you're deserving of it IMO.

OK, this thread had me confused at first, but I see what OP is getting at.  Congrats on earning 250 merits, you deserved 'em and I think I've given you quite a few since Jan. 2018 and probably will continue to do so as long as you keep making good posts and I see them.

Sometimes I feel that probably 50% or half people writing posts on this forum because they are in some signature campaign and trying to make some money  Grin Grin
They are doing that, but I feel it is possible to earn merits while doing so too, if you know what I mean. Moreover if someone feels that they are not getting enough merits there is not be unhappy about. But I do expect more merits to be an important screening factor for managers which did happen with the recent signature campaigns.

Congratulations! Another good story to motivate member to ranking up. Btw, You gave us good tips, to be a good member of this forum. Hopefully those who believe that getting merit is difficult, they can learn a lot from what you share.

Welcome to Smiley Sr club mate. I am glad to hear that you are giving priority to earn merit rather than default merit. You have already got 500 default merit but i think these 250 earn merits gave you different level of feelings and your milestone achieving post is the clear sign. I have seen a lot of members on this forum who haven't earned much merit after the implementation of new merit system but by default they have higher ranks. I always believe if any one have quality then obviously it will be visible oneday and you are one of them.

You'll get to Legendary one of these days, I have no doubt about it even though it's hard as hell to earn 250 more merits.  Guess it took you almost two years to get the number you have, which kind of surprises me--but you were inactive for a little bit, weren't you?.  Anyway, keep it up.

Great testimony TheUltraElite, congratulation!
I think that many users in your situation will just give up but you made great effort and contributed a lot to this forum.
Your advises are excellent and I hope that many new users will read and practice it.
Just, I don't think that many people will follow your suggestions.

Farewell o_e_l_e_o
Well done, fella.
Your story is a good evidence that there are good users who fortunately ranked at high ranks at the beginning of the merit system, but still keep contributing and making good posts, then earning decent amount of merits. Shitposters often complain that high-ranked users who are Hero or Legendary members at the beginning of merit system should be deranked (by destroying all airdropped merits), but they don't realize that good users will do earn decent amount of merits, no matter which ranks they began with merit system.

Many months ago, I looked at Hero and Legendary members, with a little jealous and admirable feelings, and thought that I would have never hit such ranks but finally I am here, as a self-made hero member. In reality, I have not been to far from the Legendary member rank.

On the topic of being self-made, I am hoping that eventually, all users' merit values will be set to their real earned merit values, meaning that everyone will need to be self-made with their ranks. I came back recently from a hiatus and was surprised to see that old users got an exemption from needing to earn their ranks via merit and that this exemption doesn't seem to have any removal planned.

I'm aware that if my 1000 merit that I got from being Legendary when the system was brought in was removed, I'd drop to Member - I wouldn't mind that actually, now that I'm back I'm earning merit fast enough that I would rank up again relatively quickly. I do think the 100/250/500/1000 marks are far too hard for newer forum members to achieve though.

My hope is that eventually theymos will pick an arbitrary date and remove that 'exemption', forcing even old users to earn enough merit to keep their ranks by that date or be deranked. Everyone should be self-made like yourself, especially as the merit requirement on ranks now gives old accounts even greater value on the black market. It would also mean that being a Sr. Member, Hero Member or Legendary member would actually be an accomplishment.

(I have to say though that if this was done I reckon the current goalposts are far too high. I'd reckon a change from 100/250/500/1000 -> 50/100/250/750 would be better)

Congrats, you really deserved it! It's another proof that merit system works as intended because good posters have no problems to rank up, while spammers are struggling a lot. Offcourse, sometimes it's not fast proccess and it can took a while to rank up. But it's better later than never Cheesy.
I also need only few merits to become Sr. Member. And obviously I would like to become Legendary one day. Though these ranks don't make big difference for me, I think most of Bitcointalk members would like to achieve highest possible rank here.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
The merit system had hit out on every member of this forum hoping to earn that next rank, but the worst hit were those who were Hero Members and were eyeing the next, the most coveted rank of Legendary.

Back when it was first started I was close to getting the activity of Legendary but then things changed and getting merits on posts was tough. However I didnt give up the fact and decided to post constructively and vary in different sections to make sure I kept a good conversation going.

And look today I became a Self-made senior member and I fell really happy to be a part of this group! Yup I now have 250 earned merits!

For newbies and co-members of this forum who are feeling a bit jealous, dont worry I will try to point out some things that I learnt :

1. Do not post in threads where enough replies have been made. I cant stress this enough. But if the question of the OP has been answered then dont post anymore. Instead merit some posts there if you have any left.

2. Try to vary your posting habits. Do not post in the same sections everyday just because you need to post for your signature.

3. There are many sections in this forum where we see less activity. Keep an eye on them, but you also need to read before you post there.

4. Post because you feel you have something to say not just because you have to say. Though campaigns force you to post, still I feel this can be done if you are active enough and willing to.

5. You may not be a tech oriented person. But try to learn stuff by reading and I can assure you that one day you will be able to help out others and earn some merits doing so.

6. Recycling your merits is important. If you are letting your merits rot in your profile, thinking that you would be a rebel to this system (I was like that when I used to feel bad not getting noticed), you are only harming others who are also not getting merited. If you have spare merits send them to others. Be a participant of this system and not a rebel to it.

I am looking forward to becoming a legendary soon with another 250 merits to be earned. For now, I am happy of this "small" (I will call it small anyway) achievement.

Dont chase after merits. Let them come to you - Jet Cash(Correct me If I am wrong JC)
