Not everybody is interested in "freebies" and also not everybody has the time to read
all free forum posts and give aways. It is great to have initiatives like JED, but a lot of
people (including myself!) did not understand it and it was an endless stream of messages
to deal with in understanding how to receive "free" Ripple from total strangers.

I put it this way: some people look for a free parking space in the city - others do not have
the patience and time to search for a free one and they are happy to pay for a secure parking
space.

That is why http://www.rippleactivation.com as $5 Ripple Account Activation service was
established.

We love to help and are proud to be a fast alternative.

Updated: They send you now 50 XRP with the order.

You can get your Ripple account activate with this great service via
http://www.rippleactivation.com

Some people argued that this is not the exchange rate for $5 into XRP,
and that is true, but this service is not meant to be a an exchange rate job,
but an Ripple account activation job.

A lot of people do not feel like they want to beg strangers for their first 25 XRP
they need in order to activate their Ripple account, so this service was born out
of that need.

Also a lot of people experienced that people who publicly "begged" to get their
first "free" XRP ripple from strangers and pay them back (even by doubling or
tripping what they want to pay back...) - that those very same people NEVER
sent anything back even after several weeks.

So that Fiverr job sounds and is like a honest service for everyone else who is
not into the "guessing game" of "who will help me to get my account founded
and activate" :-)

Ok.. And what how/where do I find and add gateways?  Huh

Only two gateways right now are Bitstamp and Weexchange...well those are the two major ones.

All coins "pre-mined" with one party in control over the entire network while retaining 20% of the total supply for them selves...i'm i the only one that thinks that sounds odd?

When you use the Ripple network (sending currency, creating exchange orders, etc.) you pay fees in XRP: https://ripple.com/wiki/XRP

I'm currently trading BTC/XRP at https://snowco.in

Why does it work like that? I never got it.

abrkn - Can you point me to any good threads that explain ripple and XRP? My initial impressions are that XRP is a "transactional" currency for ripple? Is that right?

This is going to sound dumb, probably... But, can you mine XRP? I just learned of ripple today and I'm still very confused...
