Personally I don't see the need or want to berate people for their style of posting. If it bothers you that much just put them on ignore.

The only time I'd see it as a problem would be if the same user was clogging up the forum with loads & loads of low quality threads. You wouldn't need to bother reporting it then any way because a mod would ban them.

Seriously who cares if somebody tries to earn more in a signature campaign by doing the odd shitty post.

But if you post the most in off topic, does that automatically mean that you should be banned?.....  Sad

From what I see I assume that this is BadBears stance, yes.

Is there a rule that you cannot post the most in off-topic? If so, will you please show me?

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads.

23. When deciding if a user has broken the rules, the staff have the right to follow their interpretation of the rules.

even if 600.000 btctalkers reported him.

I don't want to make that user feel unwelcomed. He honestly....wasn't doing anything. Sad

Its spam, in spam threads. Shit in the toilet is still shit.

-snip-
Would you vote on off-topic being taken down? After all, you want the site to be only about Bitcoin, right?

No, off-topic has more than just spam threads and even those are fine as long as you dont post the majority of your posts there.

The user linked by OP made 87/100 posts in off topic.

Please stop ganging up on that member. He did nothing wrong. I feel very depressed that a nice man is about to get banned.  Cry

Can't the staff lock threads?
Or can it be done only by global moderators?
As a patroller I'm unable to do so. However, I have that option in the section that I moderate. In other words, one has to be the moderator of the section or a global moderator to do that.

I understand reporting because of that red text tag that they keep posting everywhere. But the actual posts are relevant to the topics they post in. The last aspect we want is looking like we don't want certain people posting. In that case, off-topic should be removed, and I will make a thread about this.

...in a way where you cannot post a certain amount of times per day, or you cannot gain a certain amount of activity in a week. The automatic posting delay for new accounts is in full effect, which indicates that the possibility of placing that proposal into effect as well is more than possible.
Nah, many non-spammer members make more than 50 or even100 constructive & helpful posts everyday, thoses members or mods will be affected when a limit of posts/day will be set.
Dunno if limiting the number of gained activity per week or day could be done (you mean get/can't exceed for example +X/week in addition to +14 every two weeks) but this will make a huge protest imo

I don't understand. If you don't like a user, it is best to just place them on ignore instead of antagonizing them.
Attacking a silly behaviour and reporting it isn't forbidden and yes if he didn't get the ban i would add him to my ignore list.

They haven't done anything too terrible. I don't recall of there being a rule that you are not allowed to post a certain amount of times per day. If there is a rule, please show me it.
This guy did imo. Besides, if you can make 85 constructive post in 3 hours then go ahead no one will ban or even warn you, if you can't then don't... Take a look on the other similar topics on meta which reporting spammers to have more ideas.
Bitcointalk is made to talk, share experiences, get more information about bitcoin mainly...etc not to spam 100 posts in 1 day between off-topic (85/3hours) and politics section.
I am done with this topic, hope you understand what i mean Fwdxlsh and remember global moderators or admins will not ban someone without a valid reason even if 600.000 btctalkers reported him.

There is a two-four week waiting period for only a certain amount of posts to be counted into your activity.

This guy has 325 posts and 476 potential activity, if you don't know what this means then read the stickied threads here... To make things simple for you he could spam another 150 posts and get another 150 activity on 1 day (before the ban he won +85 activities in 3 hours)

If they have a signature campaign, it'll be a different situation.
NO! it will simply be worse!

If they do and they're posting more than 30-60 posts a day, this should constitute into a ban.
NO! if your posts are constructive you will not be banned for posting 60 posts.

-snip-
Hey Worhiper, the lock button please.
Well then.

The scripting of the website should be smarter then. As far as I am concerned, it is more than possible to simply code the website in a way where you cannot post a certain amount of times per day, or you cannot gain a certain amount of activity in a week. The automatic posting delay for new accounts is in full effect, which indicates that the possibility of placing that proposal into effect as well is more than possible.

I don't understand. If you don't like a user, it is best to just place them on ignore instead of antagonizing them. The only time you should post about a user is when they're doing an act or posting comments that are questionable. To me, this is not an issue. They haven't done anything too terrible. I don't recall of there being a rule that you are not allowed to post a certain amount of times per day. If there is a rule, please show me it.

You all just want to antagonize this user, and I will not condone this behavior. Other than posting that red text repeatedly, they're doing nothing wrong.

I don't really see their posts as spam, since they are related to the topics they post on. My only concern is them taking out that repeated red text. They should leave it in their signature space. As long as they are on topic, I don't see anything wrong.

Plus, it does not matter how many posts you make in a day. You are not going to become Legendary overnight. There is a two-four week waiting period for only a certain amount of posts to be counted into your activity. If there goal is to grow their activity number, that is unfortunate for them because they are just posting to post at this point. If they have a signature campaign, it'll be a different situation. If they do and they're posting more than 30-60 posts a day, this should constitute into a ban. If they don't, just put them on ignore if you dislike their posts.

All bans shown on modlog is a perma ban (ref: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9315006). Hope the spammer won't (and can't) buy another account and spam again.
I can confirm that he is indeed already banned. It was very well deserved. One shouldn't worry about similar cases as you can see they get punished pretty quickly. Doing this is just a waste of time since the bought account gets banned for spamming.

This user has created 4.5 pages of posts in a day, likely in an attempt to increase his forum rank. His posts mostly consist of copy pasted text, like in the image below.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/mearylll-130114

A thread I was an OP on, he committed the sme thing!
Seemed to be part of the post but has been cpoied and pasted each time.
Hate to say it, but he is quite clever, All he really needed was to put a bold line between the two and people would have noticed less. (quite a good idea)!

Is it really forbidden to include a signature message outside of the preset signature space?

It is and people have been banned for it in the past. You'll find if you do a research.

Here is the result:

-snip-
Signature content outside of the signature area is already not allowed. If it doesn't fit in the signature area, then it's not an appropriate signature.

Just copied his last posts link and was about to start a new topic ''My eyes... My eyes !!'' before reading this.
And what is he doing, he wasn't that active in the last months (bought account?), besides there is a signature space here for a reason!
Edit1: forgot to mention that he made 85 posts in off-topic section in less than 3 hours!
Edit2:  November 23, 2015, 05:30:58 PM - mearylll - password changed
Edit3: he still has 162 posts to make spam.
User Id: 130114, Name: mearylll, Posts: 314, Activity: 314, Potential Activity: 476...
Edit4: this guy is now posting in topics where the last post was made more than 2-3 weeks ago in politics & society section... I am not against purchasing accounts but this guy is obviously spamming to increase his post count as fast as possible. Left him a neutral trust.
