You can also save your words in a different language, that may confuse thieves too (for example https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/spanish.txt).

However, if you start to make a very confused encoding in your seed backup, it may be more problematic to you to recover it later.

Another problem I see is about inherit. If you hold any significant amount of crypto, it is a good idea to give instructions to a family member so he can recover your funds when you pass away (if you have kids for example). And many bitcoins are lost because many people didn't believe that could be worth much one day. Maybe 0.01 bitcoin may be worth a lot someday.

If you have a complicate encoding for your seed, it may be difficult or even impossible for a family member to recover your seed.

I think the best option is still to hide that paper back up very well.

Or use multiple languages, that will confuse them even more Smiley

Best option is to carve your seed word on some metal plate,
so no water or fire can harm it.
You can buy them, or make them yourself, its not that hard.

For those who own any cryptocurrency safety comes first, and we should always look for the best ways to protect our seeds / private keys. Most people think that buying hardware wallet and write down seed on paper is something that solves all the problems, but from many examples (users who lost coins) it is obvious that this is not enough.

We live in digital age, and thieves become more focused on stealing digital information, especially those related to cryptocurrency. So how do you increase safety of your 12 / 24 seed words if thieves get hands on them despite our efforts to protect them? Maybe we can confuse them so that they are not even aware of what they actually have, which gives us time to react and move coins from compromised wallets.

We have 2048 seed words, and each of them is related to a specific number, so for example word giraffe is related to number 786, and word benefit is related to number 170. In short, each word can be represented by a number and written down as number, not as word.

Such numbers can then be saved in any form and will not look like something important if they fall into the wrong hands. For example, it is possible to make a mathematical equation and use numbers representing seed words, or to make fake telephone numbers from such numbers.

This is just one example of how to add extra protection to your seed, but if you do this do not mix numbers due to possible confusion in future.

All words can be found here : https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt
