For people who want them to stop selling ads start taking donations.
Make whip-round, buy the ad place and put your donation link there and with the donations keep buying the ad place again Cheesy

Since apparently it's only text and not image banner we'll have to retract our bid

^ lol.

Since it's in text format, ad-blockers won't disable the ad?

Currently ad-blockers are blocking it, probably because it's detecting the word "ad" in the CSS. I'll make an effort to bypass the ad-blockers once the ads are live though, but I can't make any guarantees about that.

Hello,

Is it possible to bid now and book for a later day.
We have a project in alpha testing phase and would like to run the ads when we are fully live.

If yes.

I bid 0.5 btc for one slot.

Regards

Duke

Unfortunately this isn't possible.  Sad

I understand that you all have opinions on ads on bitcoin.org. However there is an ongoing discussion already on GitHub (https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org/issues/1139) about that. Please feel free to express your thoughts there.

However this topic is for those interested in these ads to place bids. This thread isn't meant to be a discussion or debate about having ads on the site. I hope you guys understand.

At first I thought it was a scam attempt, but it would have been deleted already if that was the case.

I do not like seeing ads on the bitcoin.org website as that would give the site an amateurish feel and look.

Keep it clean.

Don't understand why would you want to advertise on a website which is the main source of introductory knowledge for beginners . I'm sure Satoshi would never any such intentions of making money from bitcoin.org.Moreover not sure what kind of advertisements what will be accepted.Suppose if you're advertising a ponzi which initially is reputed and quite well structured ,there are chances it will scam in the future and run away with the investments.

Point is,don't want bitcoin.org as the source for the scam. You can take any advertisements for example ,you would not know they're scam until the turn out to be one.

I don't think placing ads on such a popular site about bitcoin would be a good idea and effort towards bitcoin community
Donation button might be a better option IMO than ads
