Most alts made become nothing, but I'm glad im not alone here.... They also bring the highest reward. BTC was not the best performing coin of 2017, it was the small alts that people are had the greatest relative reward.

Just do your research and invest cautiously. When all is said and done, you'll either profit from the future potential or a random Pump and Dump Smiley

Keep this in mind when holding Altcoins for medium and long term and choose wisely. Altcoin is not meant to be long term. If it is then it’s just a reason made up to enter a trade.  Kiss
perhaps ,but holding it for long term is a good idea especially if you have a low amount of altcoin. But to assure it will in increase in the future must make some research first before buying it,  'cause most altcoin nowadays turn to shitcoin.  So much better to make some research about the project to prevent wasting time,  and to assure it will grow and you can earn more profits from it in the future.

Most Altcoins lose value over time, it’s just the matter of time.

Keep this in mind when holding Altcoins for medium and long term and choose wisely. Altcoin is not meant to be long term. If it is then it’s just a reason made up to enter a trade.
Projects or Coins now have a higher daily trading volume and a broader community to back them up in a continuous development.

Ethereum ETH, Monero XMR, FCT Factor, and DASH are the leading Coin with the highest daily volume. You should follow the chart and define which stage you are on and would it be a whale's consolidation phase. At the right time and a good press release on the project, the pump will begin and all you need it waiting for the money to pour in. Remember, the winner is the one has the most cash, not the most Bitcoin.

I think you are confused with the long term holdings. In most of the cases we have to hold our coins for very very long so that we can profit from them. Know that whatever coins you have mentioned in bold font are nothing but the altcoins and at one time they were also having low volume and no value at all. But look at them now, as they got developed further they have gotten the value as well as prices too. So you see holding works all the time. Now if there are many scammer coins then that is our responsibility to overcome these projects and choose wisely.

Holding works 99% if the project itself is good enough. Just look at the current market, if someone is holding coins that were bought at January then obviously they are in the profits now! So it simply works, see!

Well, I think you two is right in certain aspects. There are not completely correct rules in crypto investment. We should find some rules suitable for ourselves.

I agree, most of the alt coins are meant for short term, because most of the alt coins only depend on the trading Volume, without anywhere to spend in real life, it tends to fade away, so alt coins is more suitable for trading rather than long term investment, and alt coin got more risk of losing its value

Please, are you serious? How the fuck can you be saying that altcoins are for short term? Most of them have a long term roadmap and the biggest gains are showing more than months after the release of the coin.

@xuan87
Additionally, altcoins is based on different categories as to what it represent.
There are coins targeted to be use specifically for healthcare, gaming, travel and a lot more. So, why would you say that it all depends on the trading volume and not on "usage in real life"?
What you're saying is the opposite or maybe, you're pointing it into shitcoins.

Im not sure why you think altcoins will depreciate i value over time because not all of them are pump and dump schemes.  Sure there are many low volume altcoins that can easily be manipulated by a whale or a group of whales but the coins you mentioned above trade at very high volumes and are much harder to manipulate.  I think they move with the entire crypto market and are not just controlled by a small group of individuals.

Most of them do, but not all of them push through. There are some out there that loses value to less than a dollar after the token sale and the buyers have made a dump. After profiting, the altcoin then disappears and the long term roadmap does not meet its goals. Unless an altcoin potentially becomes successful in the future, then it's not meant for long term. There are even some coins that don't reach the exchanges. Best to do research first and check out the support of the coin.

For altcoin trading, i suggest you study first the company and make sure that the devs are stable, since they will be the ones that are going to make updates for the coins, do a research on them first, then check the ICO, its mission-vision, then whitepaper and especially the roadmap, once they are all stable go and invest, but if you are planning to invest within the exchnage, open up coinmaketcap on your side in ordert to have a summary of the coin, always be sure to be updated, since there will lways be a time when whales will come in and you need to keep an eye on it, and be ready tonexit anytime before they do, do nott also fall for scams, if the product seems too good to be true, study it first before you invest on it.

When the market is going up it's hard to realise that you are probably going to be bad at this when you first start out. I've seen a lot of people lose a lot of money thinking they were experts after a week.

I agree knowing the stage when you say you hold is important, but that is not easy. I also think the stage is good now, it is good to buy now and for holding.

Yes altcoin indeed is not a recommended holding for long term, but only some good altcoins to hold in the long term, you only need to see the volume on the market, the higher the volume the better it will hold.

If altcoins have a practical daily life usage or solve a problem and can be used by the common people then there's no need to worry, just go for the idea of long-term investments for those coins and the coins which you mentioned - "Ethereum ETH, Monero XMR, FCT Factor, and DASH". These coins do have a lot of services and have solved a lot of issues for the common people or have contributed to the technology, So if a coin has a value that is it is demanded by the people and it solves an issue or makes some major work here and its demand is high then those coins are definitely a great option for long-term investments.

Also, DOGE is a good coin to trade, it has less volmue than monero or fanctom, but in fact, there is a good movement and you can always earn money with it.

But doge coin is more of coin struggling to survive and investors hardly look to invest there because its potential to rise is very small and its volatility is very low.

Well, those who dont trade with those coins, are those who really like to lose money.

It depends on the coin. A low value coin with no real purpose and no volume on exchanges will be low value or even eventually worthless. If you keep to top ten in coinmarketcap you should do well.

Top coins can always be outdone, just like myspace and can be replaced by facebook.
Today's new coin can be tomorrow's standard. Again, it comes down to risk appetite.

Otherwise nodobdy would do ICOs.

I may happily invest in a cheap coin, knowing it could easily double in price...
