China and green tech? To me they are diagonally opposite to each other. It is not just the major cities such as Shanghai and Shenzhen. Well, that's what they keep touting. I just see news articles online and can see the damage done. Problem with heavy metals on the soil is that they're time-consuming and expensive to get rid of. Phytoremediation might work but it would take quite some time to bioaccumulate them, not to mention if you want to reuse those minerals, you'd have to extract them again. If not, then the problem is where to dump them.

It's just far easier to rent farmland abroad in countries with large tracts of undeveloped land.

How this is going to work? Even most of the whites living in the United States have black genes (although in very low amounts, say 1% to 3%). Similarly, the African Americans are genetically around 50% Black, 40% White and 10% other (mostly American Indian), although they never acknowledge their white heritage.

Its funny that you mention that gene targeting virus. I heard about this from my best friend's father back in 1988! He was employed by a pharmaceutical company that worked with the military (according to him).. But I believed him since the guy was super intelligent and articulate when he spoke. He certainly didn't come off as a tin foil hatter.
