I do not agree if airdrop must be at least minimized, because airdrop helps to introduce cripto, and also to attract investor interest to invest
this is a trading strategy, I do not think you understand what this will be,

I think airdropping for upcoming and new tokens are fine.

But it could be a double-edged sword for some tokens that already has existing investors etc.

One example I saw yesterday was GIFTO. For promotion, they had some spin-the-wheel to win tokens thing which I thought was an extremely novel and refreshing idea. This also grew their Telegram channel to 20k members but it got out of control -- spammers started coming in, people shared referral links/codes etc and the admins at many point had to mute the channel.

After the promotion, heard some investors lamenting how the "promotion" seemed to have a negative effect :/

I think timing of such airdrops depending on which development stage a project is at is therefore extremely important.

The cryptocurrency network is uncertain and we cannot expect things to happen as we predict. It is all about the market variations. Some used to grow on dumping and some don't. Only thing need to be considered is to get into legitimate airdrops as more airdrops were provided free.

Many legit investors create VALUE by putting in thier money
in a cryptocurrency. And then people who earned free coins/tokens
come in and ruin it by dumping in the sight of quick profit.

Do you agree?

I agree on your atatement that sometimes they ruin it by dumping. However I dont agree that airdrops should be banned. It is an easyw ay of having coins and also easy way in participating in crowdsales. If you remove airdrop, less people would be interested in ICOs especially so those who have to capacity to buy coins.
i have experienced how air drop really affects the price of certain exchange. While they may promote or advertise a coin, they can also be the stopping factor to a potential flourish for the coin's value.
If we can regulate airdrops please do so. I guess we should invest more on empowering ico so that we will not rely mostly on airdrops.
I am against airdrop because this just cause done precious investors money to go down the drain.

Better ban those people who are ruining it. Airdrops is helpful to the people who wants to know about cryptocurrency. It helps to spread cryptocurrency around the world. So I think Airdrop should not be banned.

Can't agree with you. Airdrops are beneficial both for the noobs who get the coins for free, and for those who invest in the currency. The noobs get free money, while the serious investors benefit from the price rise, which will naturally occur when the user-base expands as a result of the airdrop. And not all of those who receive airdropped coins dump them right-away. Most of them keep at least 20% to 50% of the coins for long-term.

Agreed on what you have said, Airdrops are beneficial for both kind of people and the true and solid investors benefit from this because when the noobs start to dump those precious tokens or coins real investors would buy it in a very cheap price and both will be happy, the noobs earned some money and the investors will profit in the future. Both people will be happy in this process and when the time all the tokens and coins are dumped by the noobs it is the time for the investors turn to make the price rise again. Smiley

Yes, it happens most of the time were airdropped tokens are the cause of the dumping. It happens always after the token has been listed on its first exchange. It may be a bad thing at first, but for me it's an opportunity for real investors to acquire more token for a cheaper price than the ICO.

In general, no, I do not agree. Not everyone who receives an airdrop is going to dump it immediately (personally, I don't do it). A good project will not be ruined by it. Yes, there are some projects that disappear shortly afterwards, but I think they were designed to do so. Moreover, a short decline in price after airdrop or ICO may be a good thing for investors who believe in the project: they can get more tokens or coins cheaply. Remember, when someone is dumping, someone else is buying these.

Airdrops serve a real purpose of spreading the token into circulation and it's a form of marketing, getting the right community and members to back a token is really important just as important as initial investors.

Maybe youre right that airdrop hunter are always dumping free token/coin. But i think not all are idiot. Many airdrop hunter are wise they know how much potential the token it is especially in a ico. Airdrop is good especially on newbie and no profit. Lets give them chances to earn...

I don't think that airdrop should be banned. Because a project popularity depends a lot on the airdrops and banning airdrops will not let the project to gain popularity.

if there are no airdrops, is there another way to attract investors and burn altcoins that have no value in the market?

your solution is good, its purpose is to maintain altcoin value in the market. but you forget, that you do not give any other ideas as a solution to the problem!

Yes,, this is why i am raising my concern into this forum so you guys might suggest some solutions.
My initial solution is to ban or at least minimize. Now what do you think will work too?

I don't think there is such thing as "Free Money". When some people who did not invest anything was able to
cashout,, that must result to a decrease in the marketcap.

A Airdrop is a good thing, if it was funded by the developer of the coin and not funded by some pre-mine. The pre-mine is just an excuse to give free money to the developer and his/her buddies. I am also not a big fan of the free coins that are awarded to people when there is a fork. , because I am a strong believer that people have to work for their money.

Take Ehtereum for example : There was a pre-mine and most of those coins went to the developers and the founders.

Good point Sir.. Founders must be willing to fund their airdrops if they want to promote their company.

Airdrops are great for new coins starting out. Free advertisement, gets there name out there and creates a spread in the community. Maybe even helping reduce pump and dump.

Airdrops are good for quick advertisement and I don't think so there will be any ban on airdrops. Also, there are good coins which are 90% airdrop coins.
