Flying Hellfish is a Commie
Nothing new for Russia TOTALLY. Though I think it's fair to say that there are going to be a ton of conspiracy theories regarding this that will come out. It makes sense though, because what more would the defense community (Military Industrial Complex) / intelligence community want.

But I'll relax with the conspiracy stuff for a second, because the most likely scenario is the Kremlin trying to kill off someone who Putin thinks is a threat to him or (and) Putin is trying to send a message to other opponents of his government by doing this. Has anyone ever noticed that the Putin always makes very public attempts to kill people -- this is done to send a message, not because he enjoys the press. He uses the press to send a message with this, just like he typically does.

Slava Ukraini!
Unfortunately, it's nothing new for Russia. It's not first time when they are trying to remove their opponents in similar way. Litvinenko - tea with polonium, Skripal - Novichok gas. I'm not even talking about opponents killed in other ways, like Nemtsov who was shot.
Navalny probably is biggest critic of Putin in Russia. Previously there already was attempts to harm his health, they also send him to jail on regular basis. And fact that they didn't allowed Navalny to be moved to hospital in Germany for so long says a lot about this situation. I hope that he will recover.

Every time he does something like this, and the only effect is a bit of grumbling in the international community, it encourages him to do the same again in the future. And each time he does so, it reinforces his strong-man image. We see the same behaviour with other powerful countries, most notably China's approach towards Hong Kong.

Sad but true. While the world is busy fighting corona-related issues, dictators go nuts with no visible repercussions

the first doctors from the charite clinic in berlin have spoken out and they have come to the conclusion that there is a high probability that this was a poison attack and that A. Navalny was poisoned...

If Navalny survives this ordeal, I'm sure it's going to leave him in a very bad physical condition, he could lose proper functioning of vital parts of his body and that will one way or another end his criticism against Putin and his government, and that is exactly why this attack was perpetrated, It's either to kill him or render him handicap. It's sad how modern day politics has resulted into silencing strong oppositions to dictatorial rule. There's no point in asking what the world is going to do, this sort of attack comes from the top and it's done with utmost shrewdness, there can be absolutely no trace.

I don’t even understand why Putin needs to do it

He doesn't need to do it, but the fact is that he can do it with impunity. Putin is untouchable in Russia, and so is able to crush all opposition. And as recent history has shown, other countries will do nothing to stop him. China is an ally, the US under Trump has turned its back on the world, the EU is scared.

Every time he does something like this, and the only effect is a bit of grumbling in the international community, it encourages him to do the same again in the future. And each time he does so, it reinforces his strong-man image. We see the same behaviour with other powerful countries, most notably China's approach towards Hong Kong.

What's even more infuriating is the unwillingness of gov-controlled doctors to give any details on the situation and give him out to actually get some treatment

@cygan this is sad and really low level politics, and I don’t even understand why Putin needs to do it and even though it’s yet not officially confirmed that he’s involved, but unofficially we all know that he’s involved in this directly.

Also I know that Navalny has been constantly criticising Putin, but even then Putin has unlimited power so once again I’m confused why would he stoop so low and use such dirty tricks?.

@geeica0613 yea what those doctors did was really sad, and initially they didn’t even allow his wife to meet him, but finally they relented and allowed her inside.
