I don't believe it's just the recent news about Greece. Yacoin has been rising for two months, so there's clearly something else afoot, like real estate bubbles flatlining in some countries.

If this is case Russian agreed with Greece on Turkish stream to go over Greece what will happen now. Price may stable or go up again.

Almost every coin is following the same basic pattern (See the 'M' mountain rage formation)

Bytecoin, Monero, Vertcoin, Counterparty, Monacoin there is a bit of difference

Seem that current crisis with Greece is influencing in altcoin rise this may be good like last time with Cyprus.

It's really influencing Bitcoins valuation as more Greeks buy into to preserve their wealth from their national fiat and it's government's fight with EuroZone bank bosses. That btc value is bleeding over into alts aws well in my opinion.

A disaster, no.  But it is the typical pre-summer pump that is experienced in almost every trading equity known to man

And that's really odd! I knew about pre-summer pumps in the mining-exploration penny stock arena, but I chalked it up to the fact that a lot of the hot properties were in the North where seasonality takes the form of something called "winter" Wink which makes exploration a lot more difficult. Back in tha day, the players in that penny-stock niche were a lot like farmers: get rolling in the spring, furious activity (if warranted) in the summer, furious activity followed by a wind-down in the fall.  Then, when the snow started flying, thus commenced under-the-radar planning for the next season, repositioning, et. al. Oh yeah, and a lot of snoozing. Smiley

I didn't know that the seasonality was spread beyond that niche...

Yeah its nice to see the price rise going on at the moment especially for the older coins that have active communities and ongoing development. Digitalcoin has been one of the few coins that has been able to operate with stability and continued improvement over a long time period. Looking forward to this continuing.

Like Samson mentioned it would be interesting to know the who and why behind the price rises though. That BTC38 image shows rises almost right across the board with some coins a fair bit more than others.

The "who" seems to point to BTC38 users as the activity there appears to be leading the moves. I've been watching BTC38 regularly and what's interesting to me is that DGC seems to be a little more stable than many others. Only one in green at the moment.

New coins or old coins doesn't matter to me. It's just nice to see some btc flowing into the alts once again.
i agree, it is always good to see more bitcoin is getting into altcoins everyday. but i think the reason for this was the stable bitcoin price for the last few weeks. and if the bitcoin price continues to rise i fear there will be so many cash-outs from altcoin market.

Digitalcoin is one of those 2 year old coins, but one that's been continually improved on and supported since the genesis block. DGC is one that's seen a several hundred percent rise over the past few weeks, and continues to climb. It seems to me that established coins having proven to be stable and secure, have the very real opportunity to become the blockchain of choice for some economic function that requires an effective and inexpensive medium of exchange. The possibility that Bitcoin or some altcoin will be used for common every day transactions is remote, but alternative decentralized alternative currencies can very possibly serve countless other purposes. Perhaps this recent rise is confidence in blockchain technology, and the expectation that proven coins will be the solution of choice for use cases that require a reliable blockchain based currency.

Every coin on the Chinese btc38.com has increased in value massively in two waves over the last month.

I don't know about coins on other exchanges.

It started on May the 9th.

Edit: I have no idea who's buying them all or why but it's making a difference in the alt markets and spreading across the exchanges by the looks of it.

Yes all movements come with speculators, speculators help to rise faster and to down fast.

If it's true (I have not made the analysis necessary to confirm it) it may be the first indicator of a general crypto bubble. In August-September 2013, altcoins began to rise, when Bitcoin was moving sideways in the $150 region. About a month later, Bitcoin began to rise too ... and altcoins even further. History may repeat itself ... or not.

Add "Greece is the New Cyprus" and you've got yourself a scenario...

in this case i will buy more altcoins.

Thanks for the info, in 2013 i didn't know anything about bitcoins.

Glad to, but I should add a warning: the consensus opinion 'round here is that speculators are causing the rise, not Greeks. So playing this scenario is risky because it might not play out. PSA out. Wink

I am not sure why altcoin is rising. Maybe something is brewing in the bitcoin market and this is the spreadover to the altcoin market.
