So I think that now is the time to buy different coins because sitting in Bitcoin is now unreliable

I agree. Buy now as long as the alts are low. After the fork chances are high that money will flow back to alts.

Bitcoin hit 6478 today so far ....  Shocked  Most my alt bags continue to drop.  Luckily I am 50% BTC and have bought large part of my alts as the prices dropped before last fork of BTG. Still mostly red on my alts. Plan to fill my bags further as next fork gets closer. I feel most of them will drop a lot further an dBTC will get higher probably break 7K.

I feel like anytime there is a fork alt coins will dump hard core, however, maybe people have realized that these forks are pretty pointless, no one really wants another fork so why are we having so many?

To integrate SegWit2x I believe. Because easiest way is do a fork.

So we will receive "another" Bitcoin(X) during the next fork? I'm sick with all these forks, but free money are always welcome.

I really don't see alts skyrocketing back to normal levels in the next few days, even weeks. Now would be a good time to fill the altcoin bags, I think. There's quite a few good opportunities out there.

Unless these are the new normal levels, in which case ... well, I don't know, mate Cheesy

I certainly do hope that we stop with this fork bullshit, before we end up with more versions of Bitcoin than effing Pokemon games. -_-

How you do anything is how you do everything..
One thing i have realised is that if in doubt, hold btc.
Coz when the dust settles, bitcoin is king. And all the others are, well, just Altcoins.

I jumped back into alts a few days ago after the last fork when prices were rock bottom, I'm going to hold through this next fork in alts. Not worth jumping around since I plan on longer term holding anyways.

If B2X is $1000 and BTC is $5500 then that is 18%. I can easily gain more than that with being pre-positioned for the flow back to alts after the fork.

B2X will not have replay protection (yet) thus i see it as a dangerous fork in that its either BTC or BTX.
So market may be wary and hedge by selling bitcoin or holding alts.

I see three ways to be followed:
1. Hold Bitcoin during hardfork and then exchange it as fast as possible.
2. Hold Bitcoin on longterm.
3. Buy altcoins now, as they are cheap at the moment.

I think, now it is the best time to buy altcoins. They will not dump during whole hardfork time. But I want to be part of the upcoming show and will keep Bitcoin on longterm independent from its movements after hardforks and also have a little reserve on altcoins.

Hold both and just ride out the wave. The only thing that can try and hurt crypto are the governments.

I think Hold alts should be the best option, due to the btg fork people dumped most of their alts , just half of those coins now recovering , half still suffer.
Hold btc ? Nope too risky , too many uncertainties.

just a fact for you: you can't predict what will happen. What that means is that you don't know if the fork for example will be successful. What if something goes wrong? Alts will pump but you won't know until it happens. Why not invest in the coins you already trust and believe in, instead of trying to make money by buying a selling post/pre forks. The best thing you can do is to have a fair amount of BTC stacked and never sell it, you'll get that way your Bitcoin Gold and any future fork/coin that will be distributed. On the other hand, be invested in your Alt coin portfolio as well. Just buy the tokens you believe will appreciate in the future and let them be. Don't try to catch waves and ride the short term gains of a fork, it's not worth it. It's quick money which you'll lose fast, because you might succeed once or twice, but once you'll get wrong on one of your predictions you'll have a real problem and lose lots of money.

Bitcoin set to fall in value this week (post fork) with Alts rising then later next week Bitcoin set to rise again and ALTs fall leading up to the next fork.

dont worry after the fork alts will rise again.I prefer to hodl them Cool

Same here. Long term is still a must on altcoin and bitcoin. So don’t panic for a fall it’s just numbers but that can change overtime after the fork.

If one keep looking at the prices of crypto currencies one may lose out on the future success of your coin. I do not look at prices rather i look at the development, applications and read news in general about the coin I'm holding. If you are not a trader, I will advice you do the same for the sake of your health!

The dumping of alt coins are not just based on the fork of bitcoin. This had been happening whenever there is a rally in bitcoin price. Whenever bitcoin rise sharply in values, there is a lot of funds flowing into bitcoin while the alt coins bled. I always look at the chart of the total market cap for crypto to sense the flow of movement within crypto.

Alts are still very much down from their last bull run that happened back in August. This recovery that happened the past few days still leaves most people in the red on their medium term (1~2 month) buys. I'm expecting some more recovery before people flock over to BTC for the next fork.

I am also contemplating on this. This fork I am 50% btc and 50% alts and my alt losses are not enough to cover even with my BTG at $100 each. This coming November fork I think is different as this could really tore bitcoin miner support. We will see what happens in the next few days.
