...3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would...

Are you really that interested in this? How old will you be in the next century? Even if you are only 20 years old now, you will be about 100 years old in the next century. Therefore, even if altcoins survive to the next century, you are unlikely to be able to live as long) We need to discuss more real issues.

As long as Bitcoin is alive then altcoin will continue to survive.

Altcoin must be for trading as its fast moving nature not like in Bitcoin that mostly stays slow in movement .
That's what most people use them for, apart from a few altcoins that are the top ones, like ETH, all other altcoins are used for short-term or mid-term trading because of their highly volatile nature and when an asset is highly volatile, they carry a lot of risks if they are held for a long time since you never know when it drops its value significantly and don't even give you a window to be able to sell your holdings which can cause you losses or you will have to wait a long time for the coin to regain value so that you can sell your assets.

Altcoins can be a great way to earn quick profits, and people often consider this fact while trading altcoins despite the risks involved because if you can get about 10% gain in a single day from an altcoin, you can't ask for more than that from a financial market considering your capital is high enough and 10% of it is good money.

for the altcoins that are traded, I think that it is only feasible for a few altcoins, and of course bitcoin, with the spread of coins held by investors, it is less likely to be manipulated, considering that there are many new altcoins that are difficult to predict, especially from a chartist perspective, and for investing, I think altcoins the most viable top board, considering that this altcoin is the closest to bitcoin, so it will follow its movements, even the way to survive a bearish season will always be safe for the long term
manipulation happens in most low cap altcoins because they are the one who is easy to play with though even Bitcoin sometimes being questioned to be manipulated so yeah none are free from those playing .

But for me the net century Altcoins are the one who stands beside bitcoin all these years and yes , Ethereum is one of the best contented while Binance is now in the verge of having trouble .

I am not sure if we can see that further into the future. I understand people want ot be able to see the future, be a visionary, be able to make calculations that would be true for generations and yet we are not capable of knowing what the price of bitcoin will be next month let alone be able to know what the next century of altcoins will be like.

This is why it's smarter to make sure that you are doing the right thing and you are not doing any mistakes, it will allow you to know what you are doing. Make shorter term calculations and make sure that you are doing something that will benefit you, it should be allowing you to do something that will give you some time to get away and it will definitely give you a bigger profit.

Hello everyone, I made my first post here and the words of advice were really touching(maybe it's because I am weak-hearted) and encouraging. Thank you all for making me feel at home.

Now back to my question. My thoughts were that alternative(Alt) coins were created by organizations or developers to serve as a digital currency for their product or service, or improve on the shortcomings of their parent coin. I believed an alt coin with a real purpose was here to stay like Bitcoin.

But reading certain threads made me realize that my thoughts might be flawed and that maybe alt coins are good for making short gains and not long since some analysts believe they are subject to pump and dump. So would like to know

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?

2. What would happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes relatively stable( when it is fully mined and will solve its problem of price volatility)? Will alt coins survive the test of time? Will new alt coins be created later? What would become of the various countries'currencies, especially the Dollar (the global reserve currency) after Bitcoin's general acceptance?

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?

I hope my questions aren't too many.

Thank you for your time once again.

What is the point of talking about the survival of altcoin the the next century? BTC will survive till the next century no one can know that. Before taking any financial decisions about anything you need to learn about that thing's behaviour. In the long run BTC proves to be a consistent performer but it the short term it can scare you. But for the alts most of them don't survive the 2 bull cycle. This makes alts highly risky for long term holding. For investing in altcoin your plan should be short term. Invest in them, make profit and leave.

1. of course the price of altcoin will also increase very high, because more investors will invest and use cryptocurrency;

2. there will be no significant changes if Bitcoin is accepted by the country, because Bitcoin is already very popular, so Bitcoin and altcoin prices will definitely continue to increase every time, even if Bitcoin is accepted or not by the country;

3. because many companies are starting to use cryptocurrency (Bitcoin and altcoin) for their projects in the future;

4. it depends on you, if you want to invest for the long term, then you better to hold.

Which altcoins are those? you did not mentioned names instead you are only pointing to some but calling to closest to bitcoin , means those are Ranking coins like  Ethereum and other top 10 currencies?
but putting your money in New altcoins are like putting your funds in danger so try not to become another victim of stagnant project .

1. Not all altcoins but only the best ones because they are the ones which investors HODL and invest more. Many of us are going to be happy if more people will also use their cryptos regularly and not just idling them to earn a profit.

2. I think there is. Once Bitcoin is accepted, alts can too. Our crypto experience won't be completed without an altcoin because BTC lacks some features which can only be found in Bitcoin. BTC might be popular already but I think there are still lots of countries or people who are not yet involved with it. They can help the price to rise evenly.

3. I'm not really sure about it but it can also depend on what type of company it is.

4. That is the objective of long-term investing. That is, one should HODL long enough.

Best altcoins you can definitely hold also you should know that all crypto investors hold altcoins only for profit so you will be one of them. Many old altcoins are dying now because they didn't catch more investors in the market because of their poor development. Again you can see that almost all the top altcoins are very old and they still have a large market share.

...If the price of Bitcoin is bullish and reaches a new year, an altcoin season will appear and make altcoins reach a new year, ..

We can assume that the altcoin season began only when the price of the altcoin will increase not only against the dollar, but also against Bitcoin. And this can happen only when investors sell BTC and use the money they get to buy altcoins.

alt coins will gain more popularity and even more buyers next century
i can see it's the right time to pay attention to projects like NeonLink with understanding that long term well build projects will take over the market
alt coins has so much potential, yes bitcoin is has a power BUT!
i do believe next century we'll see some huge gains
We are talking about a century, not a decade. 100 years is a very long time and a lot of things will change by then for sure, there might be something better than Bitcoin and blockchain technology itself, or there might be extreme changes that all current coins and tokens lose all their value and new coins and tokens with more options and functionalities might replace them, as I said, it's a very long time and anything can happen.

The project that you are trying to promote or any other project recently released won't even be seen after a decade, a century is a very big thing for that. So there might be some takeovers after a century but it will obviously be from projects created in that era.

In my opinion, there is no guarantee that after the Bitcoin halving, the price will always go up, it's been 2 halvings, the price of Bitcoin has always increased and reached new ATH...

Of course, there can be no guarantees in cryptocurrency. It is possible that the increase in the price of bitcoin will occur later, but there should be no doubt that the price will rise, since the increase in the number of coins on the market will slow down. If by that time the demand for BTC also increases, then this will further contribute to the price increase.

Bitcoin has to be bullish if you want altcoins to be bullish too,
we'll see right now that the price of bitcoin has been bullish so in my opinion altcoins are still safe if you want to buy them safely.
there are still many altcoins that are still in the bottom if you are afraid to buy it of course it will be a regret,
Bitcoin is already at $ 30k and will continue to be bullish.

I believed an alt coin with a real purpose was here to stay like Bitcoin.
Most of altcoins die with time, not here to stay like Bitcoin. How many cryptocurrencies failed?

If top altcoins are not strong enough to be survivors, how do you believe in altcoins.
Don't buy altcoins because they are top altcoins
So few that will remain if the adoption truly comes for bitcoin because it is what the majority of users will act , sometimes we only need to support what is the most trusted .
Bitcoin adoption will kill majority of shitcoins and even those meme coins.
I am aiming for bitcoin to be the main crypto and just few for the support and of course those are the ranking coin with good product and usage .

1. Alt-coins could experience different price movements. Some altcoins may increase in value with Bitcoin, but there may also be other coins that decrease in value as investors turn to Bitcoin. However, the acceptance of Bitcoin can be seen as increasing the confidence of users in cryptocurrencies in general.

2. Altcoins will continue to exist but will likely face certain challenges, new alternative coins may emerge to solve outstanding problems. This also depends on the understanding and support from users and investors.

3. Altcoins can survive the next century if there is support from users and investors. The creation of new alt coins and solving technical problems can also help with the advancement of cryptocurrencies.

4. Trading altcoins or hodl can both have their respective benefits and risks. Altcoins trading requires the user to have the knowledge and experience to make decisions based on market analysis. However, hodl is a way to keep your money safer, the right choice will depend on the investment purpose and vision of each user.

1. I think altcoins will here to stay especially to those who really has use cases even when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender and accepted worldwide. Many will surely jump to Bitcoin but expecting for them to sell their altcoins is such a ridiculous idea especially if what you're holding is really a good project.
2. Ethereum will surely survive. Regarding countries currencies, even today dollar is failing how much more of those other currencies.
3. Easy access into the world of cryptocurrency, right now it's really hard especially to non-technical people.
4. Both for me

...If the price of Bitcoin is bullish and reaches a new year, an altcoin season will appear and make altcoins reach a new year,
but keep in mind that the altcoins that will reach a new year are altcoins that do have fundamental strong.

This is not enough for the altcoin price to increase. Without a good work of the market maker, the price will react very poorly to the overall growth of the market. It is for this reason that we see how the price of the coin increases, despite the fact that from the point of view of fundamental analysis it does not represent anything, but at the same time it has a good market maker.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
Yeah, I guess so that most of them should be traded.

I agree, because in my opinion some altcoin are better for trading (only certain altcoin are good to hold for the long term), because the risk of investing in altcoin is very big, so if you have made a profit from investing in altcoin, then I suggest you to selling immediately, because if you want to invest for the long term, then you better to hold Bitcoin.
If someone invests in altcoin and waits for a long time, then it will be a big mistake. Because the profit that can be obtained by short-term trading in altcoin, it will be a big risk to get the same amount of money by waiting for a long time. That's why I think altcoin  Also we have to choose Bitcoin. I always prefer to trade with Bitcoin because it is the most popular for me to trade.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?

simple reason, because they have a market interest. and their project is used in the long term. indeed there is no guarantee that the altcoin project will last a very long time. so I won't hold altcoins, or trade them for short term gains.
when a new project produces its altcoin, there will be an increase in the number of altcoins in the future. and also some of them will disappear. when they no longer update the project and lose the market.

When it comes to altcoins, or alternative cryptocurrencies, it's true that the crypto market is highly competitive and constantly evolving. Many new projects and altcoins are introduced regularly, and not all of them will succeed in the long term. It's important to conduct thorough research and due diligence before investing in any altcoin to assess its potential and evaluate the project's fundamentals, team, technology, and market demand.

Bitcoin and altcoin are in long time and people choosen between altcoin and bitcoin and which altcoin value are not easily it will not be easy because each altcoin will try to reach the top position. And even though the position of altcoins will continue to change in every altcoin season, it shows that altcoins will be around as the bitcoin value was increased .

Altcoins are very dependent on Bitcoin if the price of Bitcoin goes up then the altcoins will also go up,
and if bitcoin goes down then the altcoins will also go down,

this is why Bitcoin is the king of all altcoins not Ethereum, so if Bitcoin is still around in the next century then altcoins will too it's still there,
so don't worry for the future.

Always it is impossible to predict the future of altcoins, but at the same time block chain they were designed for continue to be used and developed, then the altcoins will continue in future also. Altcoins have a smaller investment when compared to Bitcoin. Many governments around the world are beginning to be legal to cryptocurrencies.
As long as bitcoin keeps doing halving mechanism and the chance for altcoin to increase will always there. The main important thing is since the inflation of bitcoin will have decreased due to the bitcoin halving and it will be also pushing the price to go up as soon as possible after halving has been happening. The futre of crypto will be surpassing gold. it will be achieved soon.
the most important thing is that the price of Bitcoin can reach $ 100k first.
If the price of Bitcoin is bullish and reaches a new year, an altcoin season will appear and make altcoins reach a new year,
but keep in mind that the altcoins that will reach a new year are altcoins that do have fundamental strong.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?
the course will do same , People will jump to bitcoin but others will also take the advantage as other altcoins will surely have their chance of coming to be adopted as well.

Altcoin had been the biggest part of Bitcoin growth because if altcoin is not created Am not sure if bitcoin will rich this high.

We knew that Bitcoin becomes more popular because of altcoins presence .

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
because they are helpful mate and yes because of their true value and creation.

There's no need to be problematic about when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender if you're worried about the altcoins. We did already see this happen to El Salvador and to the Central African Republic and guess what happened? Got nothing for the altcoins. But as a thought of what usually happens to the alts when Bitcoin pumps, then we've already seen that it's making a huge round on what actually happens for many altcoins but not for the most, they also pump.

As long as bitcoin keeps doing halving mechanism and the chance for altcoin to increase will always there.
Well, the direct impact and effect goes to Bitcoin but as a common reaction of many altcoins, they are also benefiting from Bitcoin's halving as the market goes in the bull run so they do as well.

Bitcoins and altcoins will be around for a long time to come and from there, people will have the choice between altcoins or bitcoins. But if we are going to predict which altcoin will rise, it will not be easy because each altcoin will try to reach the top position. And even though the position of altcoins will continue to change in every altcoin season, it shows that altcoins will be around as long as bitcoins exist.

And when bitcoin and altcoins become legal tender, people will have more options to pay and not just use cash, credit or debit cards. And it also provides another advantage for people to have other types of investments besides gold, real estate and others.

In my opinion, there is no guarantee that after the Bitcoin halving, the price will always go up, it's been 2 halvings, the price of Bitcoin has always increased and reached new ATH,
but at the next halving it may not happen, even the current altcoins, in my opinion, will be difficult to rise , only a few who do have good fundamentals will follow the bull run, so if you believe in altcoins,
my advice is to invest in altcoins that do have good fundamentals.

Bitcoin does affect the entire altcoin market, making them highly volatile, but it also means it has the power to disqualify a certain altcoin. The fact that bitcoin has become a fiat currency is used in many countries and is advocated as a new form of payment, even though some people and some countries have not yet adopted it as a form of payment. But that does not affect the development of bitcoin and other altcoins with the purpose of serving specific purposes in the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem.

People need to be very careful with all these Altcoins because their chance of long-term success is very slim, Crypto is still at a primitive stage and what we are seeing now is just proof of concept, and most if not all they fail, if you look at the coinmarketcap yearly you will see how top coins disappeared from the list, I just remember æternity, a very well hyped project and one of the first Ethereum killer, presently, it is not on Top 600 on coinmarketcap, just take your profit and reaccess your position forget long term
i think the point being, in every cycle most of the formerly higher ranked coin could just vanish into thin air, that's why altcoin investment in general should always be for short term investment because most of them just outright lose their value.

moreover, they also usually stop innovating after some while.

There may be no crypto future after regulations hit. It's already happening if you take a look around. Only compliant cryptos with integrated digital ID like Polygon and Q Blockchain will survive the coming purge.

I don't know what you are talking about, I've not heard of any government legalizing Bitcoin lately, but more of them are trying to either ban it or regulate it since they know they can't control it and they find it a threat to their financial institutions. They even ban or regulate the platforms running within their countries that use cryptocurrencies.

You are right that it is not possible to predict the future, whether it's about Bitcoin or altcoins, you can never know exactly what will happen in the future, but based on the potential and what happened in the past, you can make near possible predictions sometimes.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?
Probably same thing as in the past. Some (even top marketcap) coins will die before that, but naturally some of them get pumped.

Actually this will most likely be the golden age of altcoins. People will most likely use btc as a pair for trading more then fiat money, as there are benefits for holding permissionless and not volatile coin.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
Does it need a new reason? Reason would be that they been around so far. Even though some of them will die, very different solutions to bitcoin will most likely be continued to be explored.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
If you can successfully trade them then by all means do that. But hodling shouldn't mean never selling. You need to have a plan what are you going to do with it when you have enough wealth.

the only reason i could ever think of an altcoin could survive next century is the fact that it got some utility, ethereum is an altcoin and it could survive for many decades into the future because its utility alone already enough to carry the altcoin so if you gonna invest always choose the utility.
I don't think the problem OP is asking is possible in this market. It is an obvious fact that this market is gradually being accepted in society, and in my opinion over time the consolidation and support for using this market will be more diverse, not concentrated on any one. which product. Competition in this environment is by far the most visible, and it's part of the reason we see price volatility.
Blockchain technology is showing that it can solve a lot of problems in the traditional financial system, but it is not completely different, I can refer to the past history when people coins, then paper money, and now and in the future will also have ways to accommodate the changes being made.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?

I hope my questions aren't too many.

Thank you for your time once again.
What I do believe is that not only Altcoin but also the main coin such as Bitcoin must be traded rather than being HODL , though it is profiting to keep but in time when this generalized its uses?

crypto will be for use and not for keeping , just like how we use our fiat , crypto must be handed and use to pay or trade.

the only reason i could ever think of an altcoin could survive next century is the fact that it got some utility, ethereum is an altcoin and it could survive for many decades into the future because its utility alone already enough to carry the altcoin so if you gonna invest always choose the utility.
there are many altcoins that has utility but still does not receive big support because the bad thing here is that?
crypto are now being used as investment purposes and not about the uses .

Since Altcoins differ from Bitcoin in terms of special qualities and applications, altcoins are still around and thriving.
As long as Bitcoin still exists, I believe altcoins will still always have room.

Altcoins may still be valuable even if Bitcoin becomes comparatively stable because they serve different functions and have unique features.

1. Central banks will not give up their power, to believe so is naive.
2. If Bitcoin does not increase in value then miners will abandon the chain and it will fail.
3. Smart contract based altcoins like Polygon and Q Blockchain are like mobile phone operating systems (ios and android) each with their own applications "Dapps". It sounds like you need to research blockchain usecases and how smart contracts work.
4. Altcoins have more upside when trading than BTC but also more risk. You should only HODL projects with real world utility.

If an altcoin survives in the next century, is probably because of the anonymity that it provides because its the most sought characteristics that users around the world since the rise of CBDC.

People will rebel against the governments and will just keep hiding because of the CBDC. Looking further to the future, XMR will have its place or some other privacy coins as well.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
My answers are based on my personal opinions and speculations.
1. I believe that leading altcoins will increase it's price. Most of the altcoins actually can grow in price when bitcoin grows in price. Though it is still a speculation since anything can change for years now. If majority of the country accept bitcoin as a legal tender, Then we can expect prices to soar up as well as majority of altcoins.

2. If bitcoin somehow becomes stable like having a sideways pattern, I think the prices of altcoins will depend on their utility and popularity I guess? and on how the market will value the coin in it's current standing.

3. Their utility, popularity and a good project team. No project will survive if none of those exist in a project.

4. Traded. Majority of the altcoins are just being replaced every bull market, This is factual and I don't expect less popular altcoins to survive multiple bull run IMO.

You have many questions, some of them can only be answered by time. Nonetheless,

2. Will alt coins survive the test of time? Will new alt coins be created later? What would become of the various countries'currencies, especially the Dollar (the global reserve currency) after Bitcoin's general acceptance?

Altcoins with actual uses will survive test of time, rest copycats won't but I think we'll still see few doge alikes, existing for sake of laughs and giggles. Alts are created right now, each day every day. I don't see why that would be different in future. Regarding, fiat and Bitcoin/crypto, I see them going hand in hand with more regulations around crypto than right now.

Quote
4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?

In last 5 years, I've given up lots of $ by holding onto alts, trade them for btc or fiat once in profit. However, do keep in mind some alts that survive test of time and you luckily come across them early on, then holding onto them will surpass any profits you might have imagined. Tho, they are hard to come by and to be noticed. I suggest whatever alt you buy — sell half and ride rest for eternity, either it will die or end up giving huge profit.

Once you see life changing profits, sell all.

1. Bitcoin will not be legal tender in most countries. Governments will not give up their power and control over people. If you believe that then you need to read a history book.
2. When Bitcoin stays stable alts pump.
3. Only alts with real world utility like Q Blockchain, NEAR, and 0xMR will survive.
4. Most traders lose money and DeFi users get hacked. The best way to make money while Hodling is staking. Both Q and NEAR can be staked for over 10% APY.

Long term hold is also trading, the only difference is the time being.
I see some altcoins good for long term trade while the others are ok for scalping, especially those altcoins with a good hype and this is where day traders usually stay. Altcoins are good for long term hold as long as its a good project, start to analyze how its going and see if its the right time to buy or not yet, timing is very important as well.

If bitcoin becomes legal tender of course the price of altcoins will increase. If you take into account in the history of the increase of bitcoin then you will see how altcoins too have appreciated. Talking about bitcoin being legally accepted by all the government that will increase the price of bitcoin and as such since the increase of bitcoin is also proportional to the price increase of altcoins, that will also happen.
For now hoping for Bitcoin to be accepted as legal tender by all governments seems difficult,
but since it is only Hope? then why hinder yourself from that?

lets have this hope mate , because this is what we all wanted to happen , when all the places in the world will accept bitcoin in their merchant.

i don't see it happening anytime soon but anyway in crypto anything can happen,
indeed when Bitcoin is passed for it then it will make its price go up and followed by altcoins too.
lets not expect so much mate , because time will come but we must do our part and that is? lure every people we knew to invest and have faith in crypto.

the circumstance with altcoin in general will be the same like nowadays, it's always changing position, some altcoin even got delisted and slowly losing their value overtime even in the next century i don't believe current altcoin, majority of it that existed today will ever be the same, so many of them are gonna be switching around position even becoming valued near to zero.

At present the Allor Queens section is progressing very well. But I think if the Bitcoin market is good then definitely the altCoin sections will improve. Crypto currency paid is bitcoin and all the coins after that are altcoins. A review of the taxonomy shows that sit coins are the most improving and the most falling.

I think that when Bitcoin becomes legal tender, alt coins will experience both growth and volatility. Some people will definitely jump into Bitcoin, but others will stay invested in alt coins that they believe in. It will ultimately depend on the specific alt coin and its use case.
Altcoin may also be considered as legal tender as well. it may not applicable for US but it will be for another country. I meant if we must also realize how bitcoin is always trying to bet even better and better. Usability from altcoins are not greatly impacting the performance from the altcoin itself. As long as bitcoin will able consistently to increase steadily. Altcoin will be facing the same patter like bitcoin. I hope that more countries will consider bitcoin as legal tender. this greatly impacting altcoins.

First you need to understand that this market size is still very small, I see many investors only looking at the current price and forgetting the above fact. And even bitcoin I still see a very small cap, so when this market accepts more things, they will have their own values, with the altcoin environment we will also have applications. use its own financial value. I think you need time to feel more, myself since knowing this market until now I realize the truth that the development as well as the spread in life is more and more. I also agree that some things can be said to be barriers to development, but they are also inevitable for the crypto environment to become stronger.

for the fourth question, it's entirely depends on the fundamental of the altcoin itself if it's got good quality, then holding for long term, which is basically investing, is more better.
i'd say, coin could always retain their value for the next century but the thing is sometime they've lost their fame and their value usually decrease overtime. that's the disadvantage with altcoin in general, they can be replaced by newer coins in the future.

The term altcoin refers to tens of thousands of coins which are independent from each other so it is not possible to give a general answer regarding their future, some will fail and some will succeed, however the majority of the altcoins will fail for two simple reasons, the first reason is that even if an altcoin is any good there could always appear a new coin which is even better and make the first coin to disappear
I don't think so that they are independent, alts value can be influenced by other bigger alts and alts can also be influenced by BTC. As long as the altcoin has a better purpose, it can get a demand and it can survive for a long time. New coins can have a new function but old alts shouldn't allow to be overtaken by them. They must do something if they want to remain in the crypto world. See ETH? It was among the old alts but its devs are always updating the coin to ensure that it can keep up with the competition. There are so many new alts but they are not successful to overtake ETH.

while the second reason altcoins fail is that they were simply a money grab by the developers and they do not care about the long term prospects of their project at all.
They are lucky to grab money but most of them just fail because investors nowadays are now wise. Some can earn money but these are only limited. If only their devs make a serious and useful project, they will have a bigger chance to be recognized and they can earn long term profits.

As far as I know Bitcoin is already known all over the world, and is accepted in most businesses like a credit card online payment. In addition to that, even in some countries it is recognized as a legal currency like in El Salvador and others.

And if there are other altcoins that are recognized in terms of payment, there are others that are used and some of them are Ethereum, Dogecoin, and Shiba Inu, although bitcoins and altcoins are the same, there is still a risk, so it is higher than altcoins. .

Most of altcoins die with time, not here to stay like Bitcoin.
If top altcoins are not strong enough to be survivors, how do you believe in altcoins.

That more than 3300 altcoins that were listed on coingecko in 2021 are already dead again is really very big number. The reason for that was probably that the height of the last bullrun was during 2021 and back then i still remember that crazy meme-coin hype where literally hundreds of meme-coins were created each and every day and of course most of them where dead again within a few days, but a small percentage of them survived longer and made it onto coingecko. Then of course they died too sooner or later.
That being said, i think that there are definitely altcoins out there that are here to stay just as long as Bitcoin itself like Ethereum for example.

If bitcoin is used as a legal or legal means of payment, then it is possible that altcoins will also follow Bitcoin's footsteps as happened with Bitcoin or there is even a possibility that altcoins will grow and have real use cases.
if every altcoin developer has an innovation for their altcoin then the altcoin will have a good future and it is impossible to throw it away after they make a profit, of course they will develop the altcoin.

Growth is a possible outcome. How many times did we see the altcoin market going green just because Bitcoin also went up? As Bitcoin becomes a legal tender than means usage and demand and that also means higher value.
This is difficult to answer as we don't see the future. You are asking if we have a crystal ball that already saw what will happen.
3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
Good competition, that's the only part of why they still exist. Ethereum and BNB most likely will stay because of their usage. BNB as a coin for trading in Binance for cheaper fees and for their blockchain.
4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
Trade it whenever you see profits, do not fall in love with altcoins, especially the new ones. The chances for their market value to sink down are higher than for them to gain. Learned from a long experience and it always ends that way with some exceptions. Let's say 3/100.

Altcoins perform various useful functions that cannot be denied by bitcoins. Therefore, altcoins will always be on the cryptocurrency market as long as the cryptocurrency exists. But altcoins have their own problems, as a result of which they, as a rule, do not exist for a long time.
I do not think that the price volatility of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, will fall significantly over time, because there will always be an uncontrollable supply and demand ratio.
Selling or holding altcoins depends on the prospects of each project, and it is rather difficult to determine the prospects, because this indicator depends on many factors, including hidden ones.

I think that when Bitcoin becomes legal tender, alt coins will experience both growth and volatility. Some people will definitely jump into Bitcoin, but others will stay invested in alt coins that they believe in. It will ultimately depend on the specific alt coin and its use case.

First of all, Bitcoin's volatility isn't a problem, so we shouldn't consider it that, if it wasn't volatile, I doubt this many people would have liked it and it would never be a cryptocurrency worth this much, and, Bitcoin is also not volatile because of mining, but it's because of the increasing demand and the rule of demand and supply.

And I think most of the altcoins will probably die and the ones with actual utilities and strong projects might stay around since even if Bitcoin becomes a legal tender, it will still be there and nothing will change for market makers and traders, so altcoins that survive will still be kicking.

And, some altcoins are worth holding like ETH, but most of them are only good for short-term trading since they contain a lot of risks.

Asking Bitcoin when to become a legal tender is like asking when will be the world peace going to happen.

But on the other note for altcoins, they will eventually going to die soon while some may be forgotten and some will still continue to exist just like the ETH and other altcoins that has history. It is true that altcoins are just good for short term investment since most of them are subjected to pump and dump but there are other altcoins that depends on the Bitcoin trend so these are the best to hold for long term just like Bitcoin.

And one thing, even if Bitcoin is fully mined it still won't solve the price volatility because it has nothing and can't do anything to the people trading day by day.
The term altcoin refers to tens of thousands of coins which are independent from each other so it is not possible to give a general answer regarding their future, some will fail and some will succeed, however the majority of the altcoins will fail for two simple reasons, the first reason is that even if an altcoin is any good there could always appear a new coin which is even better and make the first coin to disappear, while the second reason altcoins fail is that they were simply a money grab by the developers and they do not care about the long term prospects of their project at all.

The only reason for Altcoin to survive in the next century is to have a real project, a strong team, and a follower capable of continuous development.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
For me yes "altcoins should be traded instead of HODL" at least the vast majority of them because so far the altcoins in the market have little confidence except for Ethereum.

As you can see as days passes by the more altcoin are being launched and the more we are having new concepts concerning altcoins, so if bitcoin become legal tender as you said, the altcoin would still be there and may positively be affected by price of bitcoin, and none would compete with bitcoin. Know something very import that not all altcoin that have come to stay, some may be of a deceit in other to scam investors but i still have the hope that by then there may be a better way of securing investors funds whenever a new project wants to launched this could be possible if bitcoin is being accepted as a legal tender.

An altcoin with a real purpose may be here to stay like Bitcoin but it can never be like Bitcoin and if you must invest in an altcoin even if it's an altcoin with a real purpose if the project team is not the project's number one enthusiast don't invest in it.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?
There huge possibility for some altcoins to experience a massive pump in price if Bitcoin is legal tender but not all altcoin though.

Bitcoin doesn't rely upon any altcoin and it's the altcoin that relies on the trend of Bitcoin to determine there next momentum. Bitcoin will never be generally accepted and won't be legal tender either due to some government political practice and understanding. However, if BTC is fully mined some reputable altcoins will get more traffic.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
The altcoin that will survive will the next century will be altcoins that solve some drawbacks in crypto and also have vast utility with use case.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
Altcoin can be traded and hodl but be sure of the altcoin will be relevant in the market for at least in the next 4years of market

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?
Nothing in general. We're just seeing the natural growth for bitcoin and its adoption.

Creation of newer altcoins won't be stopped and that is because a developer think that he's better than the others and solving their scalable problems.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
We will never know, we might be no longer here in this world by that time.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
Yeah, I guess so that most of them should be traded.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?
If bitcoin becomes legal tender, altcoins will experience massive growth but there may be competition between coins for entry into the top altcoins that can grow. And I think some altcoins can also be legal tender with bitcoins.

If bitcoin were to stabilize, people would seek to profit from the difference in the buying and selling prices of altcoins and price volatility issues would probably occur for altcoins. Altcoins can survive market price fluctuations. And I guess new coins will be created later to complement the existing ones.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
The reason is money. Every developer wants to benefit from their project and that's normal.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
For now, altcoins are still traded and also held by some people. You may have heard of people holding altcoins for a long time because they haven't hit their highest price yet or because there is greater potential in the future so people want to hold onto them longer.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?

Bitcoin had already been made a legal tender in El-Savador ans Central African Republic, we cannot concluded that bitcoin will eradicate every other cryptocurrencies but can render some of them less effective since many of the altcoins have no focused agenda to being a digital currency, they ended up being trash project befau of thise behind them.

Bitcoi will likely be the global reserved currency at last, this may tarry but we can achieve it, some of the altcoins might have vanished away, bitcoin cannot be stable because it is volatile, this will remain always as it is even when the entire blocks had been mined in bitcoin.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.

Some may survive while others may not, but not until then, every other crypto remain centralized except bitcoin, this is another reason enough.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?

Your decision lies on that, but remember you're taking a risk that could take away all your investment asset on altcoins anytime.

When we say "altcoins" we are talking about a massive world that consists of a lot of different projects (a couple of categories). So we have to be clear which category we are talking about.

The main category of altcoins are those that are usually referred to as "shitcoins". These are useless coins usually with severe flaws and exploits that are also usually centralized. In one word we can call them "useless".
These coins will continue to exist under all circumstances because the purpose they serve is for gamblers to make bets on their prices and participate in their pump and dumps to make a quick profit.
All tokens and token creation platforms are part of this category.

Another category of altcoins are those that tried a different approach, like using a different mining algorithm (eg. LTC). These coins had nice ideas but none of them could solve any real problem which means they can be considered "failed projects".
They will lose popularity over time and eventually die in the future. Again this is regardless of what happens to bitcoin.

A final category could be same as the one before but coins that had some innovation and could solve some actual problem hence gain some utility (eg. XMR). These coins will remain relevant and could even grow over time. But their future heavily depends on their competition, meaning if another project comes along with better innovation that solves the issues they had (eg. scaling problems of XMR) they would easily and quickly replace the said coins.
Bitcoin's mass adoption could make things harder for these coins.

As I see it an alt coin has to have a hook - something that draws the crowds to it, otherwise it is simply a clone of every other coin that has risen and failed.  Coins such as Tron are ideal as they are gateways to alts that are supported on their network unlike Ether or Binance ones that are increasingly pricing themselves out of the market with ever higher fees.  (Bitcoin is another example where even segwit pushing the data in a block down has created a new style of bidding war for transactions to be included within their blocks).

Some of the major cryptos are becoming places to store wealth comparable to silver, gold and platinum over the centuries, but I can't see any one crypto (Bitcoin included) becoming a global currency.

Developers and advocates need to find niche markets for their cryptos even if it's something as simple as a fast food burger chain or a coffee and doughnut stall at a local market.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?

Nothing I guess, they will still be "alternative" to bitcoin regardless. You don't need to speculate at this one, so far bitcoin's dominance is around 45%-50%, with that it will continue to be the prime mover.

Bitcoin and "stable" does not go in one sentence, it is volatile and going to be as it is based on supply and demand. There will be thousands of altcoins going to be created, as whether it has use case or just pure hype, remains to be seen. Dollar will be challenge, but I doubt that it will simply go down. Maybe you can read this:  Analysts Weigh In on BRICS Currency as Tool to Face US Dollar-Based Sanctions

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.

Same as Bitcoin, it should have use case and people are using it for purposes it was design.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?

It's an asset or others may see some altcoins as Store of Value, so we don't have one size fits all answer for that. It depends on how individuals are going to look at altcoins, if they think it's will give  them good money in the future, then most likely they will HODL. But for traders, then we have exchanges as a medium to do that.

I don't think Bitcoin would deface the presence of alt coins even if it becomes a legal tender, because most alt coins are way cheaper and take in profits although in smaller fraction as compared to BTC. Alt coins want to get bigger too, but the fear is that it doesn't crash sooner than expected.
BTC has shown to be stable over a long duration since its launch and has gained dominance along side Eth which stands strong too.
Alt coins should be traded instead of being kept for long because there's no saying what might happen next.
Also, if altcoins should survive the next century, it would be because of the commitment of the team behind to the success of the coin and it would also be because of good PR and service charge.

Bitcoin has influence on many other coin in the cryptocurrency space but this isn’t to say that bitcoin necessarily have to formal rights to put any Altcoin out of existence regardless of the evolution Bitcoin go through.

Also what do you mean by bitcoin becoming a legal tender? Already people are using bitcoin around the world even in countries that has known disgust for crypto-currency. I don’t believe there would ever be a time the whole world would all agree Bitcoin to be a legal tender at the same time even if that happens altcoins like Ethereum with already existing utilities still Stand good chance.

When bitcoin is fully mined, it does not have to be stable; rather, it will still experience some volatility, no matter how minor, because of supply and demand. If bitcoin becomes legal tender, the crypto market will be the primary focus in the global financial market. As a result, I believe most altcoin investors will strive to make their coins very competitive in the market and would not want the coin to exit the market after a short period of time, as we are experiencing now.

It depends on your perspective; in the crypto market, there are several types of cryptocurrency, and their classification determines their place and how long they will be profitable in the market. You'll know what to do with any altcoin if you do your homework well. Overall, you should be aware that altcoins cannot be relied on in the same way that bitcoin can. So if you trade them, you are trading at risk.

Thats a lot of question but primarily bitcoin will never got like a centralized entity to be stable with. Even it become legal tender, the movement would might still affect altcoins in the long run. Plus not all altcoins are not meant to hold since we knew some or majority of them are premine with an end game approach when VC start selling their loads. Its proven so better pick wise your altcoins.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?
If Bitcoin becomes a legal means of payment globally then the growth in altcoins will be great but behind that there must be those who take advantage of the hype moment looking for profits created in new projects but in the end altcoin tokens will die because on average their only goal is to make profits not its use, so people have to sell and prefer bitcoin.

Altcoins can survive if they can do with new innovations but I'm not sure how long altcoins will last when the relative price of bitcoin will be stable but it doesn't reduce its volatility when the market goes bad due to some negative effects.
Fiat currency will still be widely used despite the general acceptance of bitcoin, but I'm not sure in the near future bitcoin will be able to do that.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
Altcoins will never go away, in the sense that when many altcoins die because they cannot grow there will be new projects with thousands coming.
Altcoins are only a complement to the market.

The average person trades for short term gains but for HODL then bitcoin is better than altcoin which has a lot of risk.

simple reason, because they have a market interest. and their project is used in the long term. indeed there is no guarantee that the altcoin project will last a very long time. so I won't hold altcoins, or trade them for short term gains.
when a new project produces its altcoin, there will be an increase in the number of altcoins in the future. and also some of them will disappear. when they no longer update the project and lose the market.

Bitcoin is a legal currency in three countries, or do you mean a specific country?

Assuming that the average age of the forum is 15 years old and that the youngest member may be 10 years old, most of us will not live to see the last bitcoins mined, and even those who live will not have the physical ability to understand their reality.

What most people get wrong is that only a very small subset of altcoins are actually trying to beat bitcoin in its own game(SoV, currency). A lot of altcoins act like stocks. Altcoins are  not like what it used to be like in 2016-2017 where every altcoin is trying to be money.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.
People continuing to try to start experiments with protocols. That, and because people will continue to be greedy as per usual.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
It depends:

* What altcoin?
* Are you actually more better at trading than holding(or vice versa)?

Always remember that there are like hundred thousands of altcoins in different categories(majority of which are scams or are generally crap projects); but you still cant clump them all up together under one umbrella.

1. Bitcoin is already become a legal tender in El Salvador and Central African Republic, I don't see a massive growth, just a normal growth. They didn't sell their altcoins because you can check on CMC where altcoins market cap is still high.

2. Most altcoins will not survive long enough like Bitcoin, it's still 117 years to go. Everyday there's always a new altcoins, no need to wait until Bitcoin reach it's maximum supply.

3. The reason is because Bitcoin still exist and perform very well.

1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?
If Bitcoin becomes legal tender. I don't see an unregulated asset being adopted globally as a legal tender, but if that happen, altcoins would still be in existence. I don't expect a massive growth, maybe a slow decline.

• Altcoins might not last long enough to when Bitcoin is relatively stable. Except of course innovation takes place and better coins are introduced later on.
• I do not think they would survive the test of time, at least not the ones we are seeing now. Altcoins usually move in circles; the ones created over the past 5-9 years have mostly fizzled out, and been replaced by newer ones which would fizzle out later on.
• Yes, new altcoins and tokens are being created all the time.
• For Bitcoin to be generally accepted, native currencies should have become so flawed that they cannot be used snymore.

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?
• Newer innovation.

• Neither. But if you have to, trade.

Definitely when bitcoin gets attention or even a rise Altcoins also receive some kind of attention too. So in the advent of bitcoin being a legal tender( which I strongly doubt it would take longer time for it globally) then if some alts like ethereum are still in circulation many will trade in them but it depends if they would survive till then.

It will be hard to find bitcoin stable because the market will always have the demand and supply effect even after mining has stopped but its volatility will reduce to some extent. So yes this attention will also drive some get quick towards Altcoins and this time around it could be massive since many wouldn’t be expecting much profit bitcoin. But it all depends on the longevity of them

It will simply be bitcoin dominance that is still keeping them but I strong have believe that so many will be out of the market then

If at all one needs to lay a hand on alt coins then it should be for trading only even that is regarded as a risk or gamble. But on account should one hodl them because they have no value with respect to time. Although there are some that gain profits when hodl for some months or years but it hardly surpasses 5 years and they die off or depreciate to insignificant amounts
