i would suggent you to go for which ever you guys like the most. but from this three, personally i would go for ethereum first, as it is a good altcoin, after that i would prefer Ripple. but it is my personal choice only.
Alts are more possible to multiply your BTC hildings if done carefully. ICX is on discount price now. Another possible is zco, blz etc

Nowadays in market many coins are there but that person is smart who can take the best one however in market there is ETH, Ripple, EOS etc systems are there but they are smart who invest money in bitcoin because of its necessary because this coin have that value and this price may increase in future.
For myself personally, I would prefer to hold etherum as it is very solid
If you want to invest on alt coin you may do this .it’s your choice. But i think bitcoin is the best crypto coin for investment because it is safe and profitable from other coin.
I think playing with investing on ICO is fun. there are some good ICOs this year. Right now I am also watching the ICO of Enlte begin to climb.
ETH and NEO are already proven to be a good investment, its positive that you get a lot of profit if you stick to the two which are your choices as you said but you also thought of investing Ripples. If someone advises you are giving this coin a try, maybe he knew something about it or hold hundred thousands of it. In my view though is that, its all up to you. I truly am a fan of ripples even to stellar which is the competitor of it. Ripples however are becoming quite impressive with their marketing and their technology already and it looks like they are wining the crypto space.
As for me the best investment is the ethereum because it is a reliable coin in which you can invest and not worry if you invest for a long time 
My preferance goes of ETh actually, Eth deals with smart contacts and this is becoming famous among people after bitcoin. Even, there're many people who are moving towards this coin gradually. It has left EOS and Ripple behind. Now, the decision is yours! 
I will suggest you to forget every thing . You should gather your capitals and grab some bitcoins because the price is low now and you will be benefited if you buy it now.
If I were you, I would choose Etheruem. Ethereum is currently doing great in the market. It's price is also rising.

Ethereum is currently the best option if you want to truly invest in altcoin, while the other altcoin such those you mentioned above you people are just speculating depending on the development of their platform. Especially Ripple, not a really good investment choice, in my opinion, but still you need to do your own research.
