Altcoins refer to every other coins apart from bitcoin. I disagree with whoever have the opinion that we cannot hodl altcoins because ethereum is also altcoin. There are many good and solid altcoins in the crypto space right now if we can dig deep, such altcoins include Chainlink, Band, DIA, TRB, Ethereum, BNB and many others that I cannot list right now.
It really depends on the person, as for some it could be that way. However, there are many people who are more comfortable doing it for long term. And I am also amongst those who prepare for long term battle, as to be able to gain. I see that people support that altcoin suits better for day trading, and not for holding. I just don't get why.
Lots of altcoins are just pump and dump so it's good to make quick profits. People mostly use altcoins for trading but there are some very good altcoins that will be valued more in future so they are good for long term holding so not all of the altcoins are for just day trading.
Keeping altcoins in the long term is not the best prospect. We simply lost a large number of coins without selling them on time. You need to use the moment and not wait for the manna from heaven.
We can still keep altcoin long as long as you choose the right currency. If you bought Ethereum in December 2018 and held it up until now, you will surely have made a large profit.

I think that some shitcoins are for hours trading, some altcoin for day trading and there are also really good projects as polkadot and HBAR that could be holded for years waiting that we are ready for this kind of technology
In my opinion, absolutely all altcoins are designed to take away your bitcoins, if you invest in these coins... From the whole huge market, few projects are successful!

What you are doing is also a good thing for you, even though it is an old method that is still widely used by some bounty participants today, and some do daily trades in order to get multiple profits through the bounty they have earned, but basically it is equally good in my opinion, because everyone's main goal is to make money while looking for new knowledge in crypto.

It is as easy as setting up an account in binance and then do all your trading. I have told many of my colleagues about this and so far they do not regret joining and making extra by doing day trading.
If you have enough time day trading for certain alts may work for you. There's always movements from this market and having
a good glimpse leads you to pick the right project for your daily trade.
Though there are people who buy or invest and hold from other alternative project believing that taking this assets for good mid-long
investment will bring them more decent profits.

Because most of the new altcoins are currently dumped and then the team leaves the project, that's why many people think they would rather do day trading than hold for the long term

not exactly hours but it can be a day or a week , not long enough because shitcoins are prone to crashes . shitcoins are okay for trade but we should pick new kind after trading the other and not to repeat same coin .
for alts coins they can be good in day trading or whatever time you like , the longer the better . if you can be confident enough on alts why would still pick shitcoins but if your sick and cant stick on altcoins why not pick bitcoin instead as another alternative .
