Looks like Cinni and Doge are twice in the list (any others ?). You don't have NEM  there   Roll Eyes  , so i only chose NXT. It is just in the edge of exploding from "altcoin" to seriously challence the old and tired Bitcoin.  Cool

The "old" and "tired" Bitcoin? I really think Bitcoin will be the #1 for ever.. It's really hard to create such community for a new coin.   I wish I had more coins of this "old" and "tired" Bitcoin Wink.

I'm currently making my Altcoin portfolio smaller, when I'm done, I just want BTC and a few altcoins. Having a wide spread portfolio really takes time in my opinion, atleast to maintain it..

Bitcoin is very good first step, but tech goes forward fast and i am afraid that the feature "original" won't be enough anymore in 2015. And community will easily be cut in half when some other coin starts getting close to Bitcoin's cap and some of the "Winkelwosses" announce that they have just moved their investments in to new slicker platform....

And in the end there is only few stubborn dude's yelling that Bitcoin is the only crypto and you should never move on... because it's the first one...  Angry ... Cry

RieCoin? The fact that I've never heard about it probably, which means that it didn't had enough promotion.. (And / or because it's shit).

There are too many cryptocurrencies. I think only a few will survive in the long run.

Dogecoin is listed twice and Bitcoin is not an alt

Maybe it has to be repeated:

Dogecoin is listed twice and Bitcoin is not an alt

Not just Dogecoin, several are listed twice.

Bitcoin is not an altcoin. It does not belong on the list.

Litecoin is a no-brainer. It doesn't belong on the list.

You missed Huntercoin. It's absolutely one of the top 5 easily.

As such, I can't vote.

If I were to vote:

1) Namecoin - This is a no-brainer.

2) Huntercoin - Parallel merged mining with SHA-256 and scrypt, human mining. These are BIG deals.

3) Not sure about #3... a few possible contenders...

Kudos to the single Mintcoin member for fully exploiting the BCT registration system and going all "Sybil" with your voting! Smiley

I think some of you chasing insta-profits need to ask yourself are you trying to get rich in a week? Cause that isn't investing or building a currency. That is just gambling.

If you actually want to invest and maybe help build something great then you should probably take another look at Worldcoin. We've had our trials but we are only getting stronger. We have a growing development team, an active forum of our own, many merchants, exchanges and services. We have a wallet release this Friday that will protect us from asics and position us to transition into something even more unique safely. We have big plans and the resources to achieve them but I'm sorry we aren't going to lie and try and convince you that we will make you rich in a week. I guess that means we aren't that promising.....

Ripple could have a breakout year after this piece of news.  It is finally pushing through.

Fidor Becomes First Bank to Use Ripple Payment Protocol

by Pete Rizzo

San Francisco-based decentralized payment network provider Ripple Labs has announced that German Internet direct bank Fidor is now using the Ripple protocol as part of its transaction infrastructure.

With the announcement, Fidor has become the first bank to integrate Ripple’s payment protocol, allowing its customers to instantly send money in any currency in any amount through the bank’s money transfer products at a lower cost.

The move is significant as it will allow Ripple to showcase how its unique open-source approach to payments can be used by banks to replace many of the common intermediaries in the industry, thereby passing on savings to partner institutions, and by extension, their clientele... continued

The PoS coins seem to be a popular choice. I picked black coin, white coin, and mint coin because they seem to be standing the test of time. Mint coin came out months ago, but still seems popular and I suspect the other two might follow the same path.

Could you add ZimStake(ZS) to the list? POW+POS very active community and a star dev. IMHO a coin to keep your eyes on.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-zimstake-zs-pure-pos-no-ipo-premine-sha-256-583591

Your own star developer about himself and this coin:

Quote
I am a new coin developer.
I had fun and I wanted my own coin (Not this one, I have another in the works).
I will maintain and support this coin! However, it is just a little fun for me and hopefully anyone else who decides to join.

So maybe the other coin will be here around next year or so, but a fun coin should not be listed here.
