For me, if a coin can replace a bitcoin to pay, that's Etherum. Etherum has all the features of a paid coin that is fast, secure, and anonymously fast, with great support from the community. I think the value of this Etherum in 2018 will continue to grow. Etherum is a coin ranked second after bitcoin in the crypto world.
litecoin can also be a good replacement, as its been a copy of bitcoin and the process will be easier too, likewise with eth much quicker compared to
bitcoin, so if payments is concerned eth and ltc can be an options.

In my opinion, I don't think that one day there will be an Altcoin that can progress Bitcoin in price and the market cap. In otherwise, There is a big difference between specifications of btc and the others currencies , And now the majority of users cryptocurrencies They use Bitcoin as a solution for them in  the Financial transactions, although there are difficulties in this period especially with  the price drop ,transactions, fees..
But it is certain that there will be solutions to overcome these problems, and surely
that bitcoin will return strongly and and better than before.

Welcome back 🙏
I trust ethereum on that...ethereum has that capability and potential and if not ethereum then I don’t think any other coin can ever overtake the bitcoins..

there are some really good alternatives but to replace bitcoin there must be something rally good in functionality, maybe tomorrow we'll have some big players (google, amazon, paypal, etc) in crypto world and we may have a really good alternative

That's a great observation. Amazon and Google have the computing power to run a centralized network and might just do it to cut out the fees they pay Visa and Mastercard.

Hi everyone,
Because of high miners fee in bitcoin transaction, is it possible that there will be an altcoin that can replace bitcoin and can be used as major payment for cryptocurrency exchanges?

Currently I see that Ripple could be used for this purpose. May be DGB or dogecoin could be used for that also

I do not think bitcoin need any replacement, what we need in cryptocurrency space is collaboration. Ethereum platform is making history by hosting quality ICO like ALGORY.IO token. ALGORY.IO is providing much needed tools to trade cryptocurrency with!

Bitcoin isn't really a payment system, it's pricing is too unstable and in the US every transaction triggers a taxable event (not sure about other jurisdictions). It is a store of value and a speculative investment. Everything I read from investor class people buying BTC says that are buying to hold for what they think will be significant price increases in the future. That's what people do with commodities, not what they do with a currency. It's what I'm doing. I bought a t-shirt for $30US in BTC earlier this year. It's now a >$100US t-shirt. Dumb move. Should have kept the BTC.

A real currency will have a stable value so people won't hesitate to use it for transactions. That makes it not so great an investment. If you hold real fiat currency over time (dollars, euros, yen, etc) it goes down in value because of inflation. I true digital currency would do the same. A lousy investment. I guess a digital currency that allows staking would get you a little transaction fee, but if that is you goal, put your fiat money in an interest bearing account and hope inflation doesn't exceed the interest rate.

Does DickCoin exist? If it does, and I think DickCoin is replacing Bitcoin at the end of the day. Tongue

It's possible but i don't think it will happen because many people still trust and keep using bitcoins even the fee is so high. If altcoins can replace bitcoin as major payment, maybe it's bitcoin cash or Ethereum. This 2 altcoins is popular and big though, the only different is the price that very different if you compare it with bitcoin price.

Theres small possibility of that, why? because btc as the foundation of crypto itself isnt yet implemented to may countries,an altcoin which its successor would be hard to be accepted.

It is hard to tell which is which and what coin should be the right one. With all the promising development of altcoins for sure their will be one but not as of the moment as bitcoin has its stronghold and still flourishing in the crypto industry.

Absolutely. Moreover, bitcoin has well known technical problem and in the future it will become unsustainable.
Of course, the real bet is WHICH altcoin will replace bitcoin. We'll see :-)

That is going to be Litecoin. Even Warren Baffet was talking about it in his twitter. Charlie Lee has said that in 2018 is going to happen something. We can't know it is going to be a pump or a dump, but I'm going to buy LTC for a positive case.

It is possible now, we can now use ETH for some payments. There are some sites that you can withdraw ETH as a national currency without converting ETH to BTC and BTC to national currency. It's a great idea since ETH is very essential to use and can gain a better profit.

Monero is my favourite coin for payment, its is more secure and privacy is 100% I think that this coins will be in top 5 coins in 2018. One of the best altcoin to invest.
